Math Club superior
T he 1985-'86 Math Team was very
dedicated and included many achiev-
ers. Their sponsor, Mr. Richard Wohlf-

started on a posit ive note this year with a third
place at South's contest and Mike Wilson won
the Marathon A at Creighton University's Math
Field Day." Wilson also took a first place in the
advanced mathematics test at the UNL Actuari-

The team also participated in the American
High School Math Exam and the Northwest
Missouri State Math Olympiad.

Autobody class ,II.
aims for goals
J ames Harris, the vocational .
autobody teacher, has several
methods of training his stu-
dents. Lessons are broken down into
eight modules, but they all aim
toward a common goal.
The first module (mini-course)
is basic metal straigh tening which
introduces the students to the sheet
metal phase. After this, the students
are trained in welding techniques.
After this, they take three more
mods before finishing with advanced
metal straightening.
Only two schools in OPS offer
this kind of training, South and the
Career Center.

Drafting: a
practical art
D rafting is a class where
students learn various
things about the plan-
ning and construction of a home.
Architecture is taught for stu-
dents to learn how to draw up
plans for buildings.
This class is helpful not only
for future architects but also for
future consumers as it teaches
them what to look for when .
buying a home.

Pride a part
of shop classes
T he students in South's shop
classes have a right to be proud.
They are learning skills which
will prepare t hem for a vocation. Under
the guidance of teachers who are experts
in their fields, students learn woodwork-
ing, metal working, electronics and elec-
tricity.
In woods classes, for example, Mr.
Fred Kratzke teaches his students the
fundamentals of working with wood and
then they actually learn how to make
their own furniture .They build cabinets
and shelves, among other things.

show the lower ranking cadets how to perform
and excel.
Outside normal class duties, there are
voluntary activities such as the Rifle Team,
which competes for high ranking throughout
the Omaha area in shooting meets. The Drill

The 1985-1986 school year has been
filled with many "Glory Days." Each of
us has different memories, but they are
centered around one period of time: this
year at South High. If we grow apart and
our friendships fade, we know that we
will always have the visions of how it was.
Our friendships may someday disappear,
but our memories never will.
To all of the underclassmen: make
your last years of high school the best.
Work hard in every class, but don't
forget to have fun. To all of the graduat-
ing seniors: good luck in the future. We
hope you succeed in all that you do.
Each one of us is unique, but all of
us together made this year and this
yearbook special. Thank you to each
student and staff member for making
these last nine months "Glory Days."
