Ichthus Orientation Program (IOP): 5-6 July 2019
The Ichthus Orientation Programme is to
prepare and orient all new appointed
and/or returning teachers and staff for the
forthcoming academic year. The
programme will cover a number of areas
of the school’s operation in academics,
administration and general affairs. The
programme has 3 stages: IOP 1 comprises
the Overall Overview of the Ichthus
School Academic, Non-Academic and
Spiritual Formation Programs. IOP 2
covers the Academic Program of the
school while IOP 3 includes Ichthus School
Spiritual Formation

The visit is a part of the
Christian School partnership/
sister school program of

Ichthus Orientation to New Parents & Students: 15 July 2019
The Ichthus Orientation Programme provide
great opportunities for new parents and
students to know what to expect in the coming
year and also equip themselves for it. They
also get to know the teachers in the different
classes. The schools explains the pattern for
conducting examinations, the curricular and
extracurricular activities, the support required
from parents, homework structure and others.
Vision, Mission, Core Values of the school are
highlighted. The entire Academic,
Administrative and Support Staff are
introduced to parents and certain school
procedures are set.

Parent Talk on Parenting with Love and Logic: 26 July 2019
Our Education Consultant, Mr Bob
Schmidt, conducted a Parent Talk
entitled, “Parenting with Love and
Logic” on 26 July 2019.
Ichthus Parent Talks seek to convey
important principles, information
and practical strategies to parents.
These talks also aim to establish
caring and respectful relationships
and build on the familial Ichthus
Community.

Class Parent’s Meeting: 31 July 2019
As Parent Representatives, Class
Mums/Dads have greatly enhanced
the community spirit at the school.
We are blessed to have a vibrant and
positive parental support and we are
thankful for this. There are strong
personal bonds we share here at
Ichthus and Class Parents foster
them. They are a link between the
school/teacher and rest of the
parents in the respective class.

Whole School Assembly: 26 July 2019
Whole School Assembly highlights school
activities and programmes and focuses on
academic and co-curricular life. It is
conducted with complete and active
participation of students and teachers
and is well-planned.
At Ichthus, we introduce the school’s
Vision, Mission, Core Values, the Faculty
and Staff, Academic Highlights as well as
School Rules during the Whole School
Assembly.

Campak Immunization & Deworming: 9 & 21 August 2019
As part of the local government and
Caringin Puskesmas initiatives, Ichthus
School hosted Campak (Measles)
Immunization and Deworming to our
students in the Primary School. Our
school nurse and Kepala Sekolah
facilitated this activity together with the
physician and nurses from the
Puskesmas.

Independence Day: 16 August 2019
Independence Day/ Hari Kemerdekaan is a national event in Indonesia commemorating the
anniversary of the country’s Proclamation of Independence on 17 August 1945.
At Ichthus, celebrating Independence Day is a festive day that starts with flag hoisting,
cheers and yells and games for parents, teachers and students.

Open House: 24 August 2019
Ichthus School Open House allows
us to open our doors to the general
public to allow people to look
around the premises and learn
about us. OH is conducted to attract
prospective students, familiarize
them (and their parents) with the
facilities, allow new students to
become familiar with facilities and
meet others, or to open informal
communication channels between
school staff and the students and
their parents.

Professional Development 1: 26 August 2019
Professional Development (PD) is extremely important as it gives teachers the opportunity to
self-reflect and develop traits allowing them to lead successful classrooms. PDs are important
not only to ensure the best learning outcomes for their students but also to be more effective
and satisfied in various other aspects of their work. At Ichthus, PD 1 on Philosophy of Christian
Education was conducted by Mr Bob Schmidt, and each participant was credited 2 ACSI CEUs.

Market and Career Day: 28 August 2019
As an interdisciplinary project,
Market and Career Day was
conducted by Grade 4 students as a
result of their learning. Career Day
give students an up-close-and-
personal view of an array of
occupations. Market Day allows
students to learn basic economic
skills like trading, selling, and
bargaining. Working with their
group mates allows the students to
be more collaborative, take
initiative, discerning and be good
communicators.

International Choir Festival: 6 September 2019
The Ichthus School Primary
Choir joined the Penabur
International Choir Festival
and was awarded Silver. The
choir competed with 52 other
groups in various categories.
Ichthus School is committed
to developing students’ skills,
tapping into their talents and
building on their confidence.
We hope that they become
Ichthusians who have a heart
of praise and worship.

Ichthus Family Fun Day: 7 September 2019
In celebration of Family Fun Day,
Ichthus School hosted ‘On Wings of
Poetry’ where all Primary students
delivered poetry in Bahasa
Indonesia, English, Mandarin and
French languages. Afterwhich,
there was a mini-bazaar with games
and kiosks. Aiming for building
community and having more family
time, the Family Fun Day is a yearly
event at Ichthus School.

Semester 1 Field Trip: 11 September 2019
Field Trips are important because
they are a way to bring the
students closer together and learn
on a hands-on way. They have the
opportunity to see new things and
learn about them in a more
unstructured manner.
Semester 1 Field Trips at Ichthus
usually will be a trip to factories
and museums.

Abundance Academy Visits Ichthus: 12 September 2019
Ichthus School welcomed
guests from Abundance
Academy, Rui'an, Wenzhou,
China and ACSI Indonesia led
Pak Agus. They have come to
visit Christian Schools in
Indonesia to see how the
schools are and gather
insights as they start building
on their community in China.

Strategic Retreat: 13-14 September 2019
Ichthus Strategic Retreat is
specially intended for
Leaders of ICHTHUS to focus
on "Excellence and
Community". This year, the
retreat was held at Pullman
Hotel, Ciawi. The fun-filled
event was attended by the
Directors, Principals, Kepala
Sekolahs and Corporate
Leaders of the Ichthus
School.

Pacific Hills Christian School Visits Ichthus: 7-9 October 2019
Ichthus School welcomed
Mr & Mrs Bill and Carolyn
Sakuolas and Mrs Janine
from Pacific Hills Christian
School, Australia. The visit
is a part of the Christian
School partnership/ sister
school program of PHCS
and Ichthus School. There
will be a collaborative plan
on Missions engaging
both schools and the team
will be preparing for
these.

Professional Development Day 2: 11-12 October 2019
Professional Development (PD) is very important as it gives teachers the opportunity to self-reflect

IS Primary G3, G4 and G5 Sleepovers
One of the most looked- forward
event in the Primary is Sleeping over
at school. Students from Grades 3,4
and 5 have their fellowship together
as a class. Joining and facilitating this
event are their homeroom and
assistant teachers who plan fun
activities for everyone to enjoy. This
year, sleepovers were conducted in
October 2019.

Movie and Book Character Day: 24 October 2019
Movie and Character Day was conducted on 24 October 2019 in the Primary where students,
even teachers, dressed up to their favorite movie or book character. They also spoke about
the character in their respective Language Arts classes as part of their project.

White Rock Christian Academy Visits Ichthus School: 1 Nov 2019
White Rock Christian Academy shared about Mission, Service Learning Programs and
Biblical Integration on 1 November 2019. The team was led by Mr. David Michaels.

G6 to G7 Transition Day: 6 November 2020
Grade 6 to Grade 7 Transition
Day was conducted on 6
November 2019 in the IS
Secondary where the G6
students sat for Literature,
Physics and Biology classes from
9.00 a.m. until 11.00 a.m. It was
a good activity for our current
primary students to experience
academic learning in the
secondary school.

Parent Talk on Special Needs: 8 Nov 2019
We hosted a special Parent Talk
on "Debunking Myths on ADHD
and Autism” on 8 November
2019, in the Caringin Auditorium.
We had 20 parents coming for the
Special Needs Talk by Dr Pamela
Neo-Lin, Clinical Psychologist,
Researcher and Educator from
Singapore. She shared awareness
about Autism & ADHD, what they
are and are not, intervention
strategies and case studies with
positive outcomes.

SPK Akreditasi: 1-3 December 2020
Ichthus School SPK Accreditation was conducted on 1-3 December 2020.
Ichthus School was one of 150 SPK schools that participated in the SPK
Accreditation which was, for the first time, organized by BAN. BAN as an
accreditation body sent two assessors to the school. The main task of the
assessors was to see the suitability of the Ichthus School in reference to 8
national education standards.
“Lion King”: 4 December 2019
Ichthus Primary’s Annual Concert featured “Lion King of Pride Rock”. There were 2 shows for
parents of Lower and Upper Primary and each show had different sets of main casts. It was
great to see students take confidence in playing their parts. Indeed, we are blessed.
Community of Ichthus Fathers: 7 December 2019
Parents are very important in the
Ichthus Family. To get more dads to
be involved and to share ministry
ang God’s words with them, the
“Community of Ichthus Fathers”
was launched on 7 December 2019
to connect, do fellowship and share
God’s plan for fatherhood.

Ichthus School Leaders visit The Learning Farm
With the purpose of seeing how sustainable organic farming is, Ichthus School
leaders from both campuses visited Rumah TLF (The Learning Farm) on 16 January
2020. Plans will be made to see how this hands-on learning environment can be
integrated into the Ichthus Curriculum especially in the Secondary School.
PD 3 on 18 Jan 2020: Manna by Dr Suparno
Dr. Suparno shared about Developing an Eternal Perspective as Manna for Teachers’
PD on 24 January 2020. Perspective 1: Temporal vs Eternal (We should live life with
great gratitude to God); Perspective 2: Money or God (We can have money and God
but we can only serve one master: God. We only offer our allegiance to Him.)
Mr Bob shared about Biblically Integrated Big Ideas
during Teachers’ PD on 24 January 2020. He further
shared about 3 Rules in Life: Trust, Commitment,
and Love. Key Question discussed in Session 1 was:
What is a Transformed Life? Session 2 of the PD
focused on teacher workshops how to compose Big
Ideas per subject area.

Special Chinese New Year
Assembly and China Day
on 7 February 2020
Special Chinese New Year Assembly
and China Day for Grade 5 was
celebrated on 7 February 2020.
The Mandarin students took turns
in presenting their poetry, songs
and dances during the Assembly
and the Grade 5 students presented
their interdisciplinary projects on
China Day. It was a festive moment
at school. Both events are parts of
the curriculum in various grade
levels in Ichthus Primary.

Grade 4 Egypt Day on 19 February 2020
Egypt Day was hosted as our Grade 4 students presented their interdisciplinary projects
about this ancient civilization. The program was a result of their learning about Egypt: its
history, civilization, languages, culture and arts.
Dumpling Day
on 25 February 2020
Parents, too, want to have fun! Ichthus South
hosted Dumpling Day on 25 February 2020 and
this was well participated by Indonesian,
Korean and Japanese moms. This activity was
organized to promote parent involvement at
school and share a part of their culture with
each other as well.
Puberty Talk to Grade 5 and 6 Students on 27 February 2020
A simple talk on Puberty was shared with Grades 5 and 6 boys and girls, separately on
27 February 2020. Mrs Charo delivered the talk with the boys and Mrs Asty did the
session with the girls. It was good to hear the students sharing their own questions
about physiological changes in their bodies.
Fire Drill on 27 February 2020
Term 3 Fire Drill was conducted on 27 February
2020 at 10.45 am. This was simultaneously
conducted with Kinderland Caringin.
Fire Drills are regularly
conducted per term to
ensure that SOPs for
emergencies are in
place and practiced. All
people in the Ichthus
Primary premises were
out of the school
building in 2 minutes
and 27 seconds.
Secondary Information Morning
for Grade 4, 5 and 6 Parents
Communicating the academic and
curricular offerings of the Ichthus
Secondary School to Primary parents is
a very important exercise. On 28
February 2020, the Ichthus Secondary
team of leaders, faculty and students
shared about the curriculum and
academic programs, counselling and
university preparation, and student
testimonies were some of the highlights
of the special meeting.
Sulawesi Day on 5 March 2020
As part of the academic learning about Indonesian history, culture,
tradition, language and way of life, Grades 1, 2 and 3 students worked on
interdisciplinary projects focused on an Indonesian island. This year, our
Lower Primary students studied about Sulawesi. On 5th March, they
exhibited their work, and showed skits, songs, poems and dances that
originated in the island of Sulawesi.
PTMs on 13 March 2020
Parent- Teachers’ Meetings
were held to update parents of
the academic performance and
growth of the students at
school. It is a time for school to
meet and see our parents and
an opportunity to give
feedback for the child’s
performance per term.
Last 13 March 2020, we had
our Term 3 PTMs which was
well- attended by students and
their parents.
