Semester 2 After School Activities

After School Activities provide
students with fun learning

experiences outside the four walls of
the classroom. Most often, they join

activities of their choice to further
enhance their skills.

This semester, Ichthus Primary
offered 11 ASAs with 124 students
who participated. ASAs were JACPA
Gymnastics, Soccer U8 , Soccer U12,
Muay Thai, Cooking Class, Games &

Apps Maker, Fantasy Painting,
Basketball, Taekwondo , Badminton,

and English as a 2nd Language.

Preparation Time: Admin Team

As part of the school’s
preparation for the impact of
COVID-19 Pandemic, Admin
Team discussed certain measures
to address the “Work From

Home” set-up.

Headed by Ibu Nina and the
Principals, the Admin team
devised a rotation scheme on
duties and addressed work loads
for everyone. The meeting was

held on 16 March 2020.

As part of the school’s preparation for the impact of COVID-19 Pandemic, the
Primary Faculty and Staff observed social distancing measures as they met on 23

March 2020. eLearning Platforms such as Home Learning Kits (HLKs), Google
Classroom and Zoom videoconferencing applications were discussed. Mini-
trainings were conducted so everyone could familiarize themselves with the new

home learning at the Primary.

Preparation Time: Students

The new eLearning platform set up was communicated to parents and to
facilitate academic lessons, we had to send home all books and other learning
materials left at school during the previous term. All our parents cooperated

well in this activity and our eLearning classes started on 26 March 2020.

HOME LEARNING KIT GOOGLE CLASSROOM ZOOM

HOME LEARNING KIT
(HLKs)

The Ichthus Primary Home
Learning Kit is a weekly

learning plan that indicates
tasks and learning

assignments which will be
done by each student per
subject. It will also indicate
some online links as well as
specific instructions on how
to go about the activities.
HLKs are for Grades 1 to 6.

GOOGLE CLASSROOM

Google Classroom is a free learning
management system, developed by Google for
schools, that aims to simplify creating,
distributing, and grading assignments in a
paperless way. The primary purpose of Google
Classroom is to streamline the process of
sharing files between teachers and students.

Grades 4-6 students will go through some
learning sessions using this platform. They are
to follow the steps indicated in the “Step by
Step Instructions in using Google Classroom as
a Student”.

ZOOM VIDEO-CONFERENCING APP

ZOOM will be used as a real time content
sharing application through a video-
conferencing platform. Each class in Grades
1-3 will go through zoom in all their classes
as facilitated by their respective Assistant
Teachers.

ZOOM is utilized for Grades 1 to 6 classes,
although G4,5 and 6 also tried Google
Meet. More teachers and students prefer
Zoom because of its features.

Virtual Create a Culture Project on 19 May 2020

The Virtual Create a Culture Project
Exhibition assessed the students’ CRITICAL,
CREATIVE and GLO-CAL thinking capacities
learned throughout their primary years. A
rubrics stating criteria used to assess this

project was developed jointly between
teachers and students so that everyone was

aware of what were considered a project
reflecting excellence and deserving of
highest grades. All subject teachers
provided guidance for the students. The
student’s final mark for Create a Culture
Project replaced the marks for the
Semestral Assessment Two (SA2).

Virtual Open House
on 22 May 2020

Led by the school’s Marketing Team, Ichthus
Primary conducted its first Virtual Open

House on 22 May 2020. Just like an actual
Open House, points discussed were about
the curriculum, daily routines, assessments,

faculty composition and welfare of
students. School leaders were ready in

Zoom and answered questions from
parents. There was a virtual tour of the
school, as well. To make the OH more
interactive, pit stops were designed in the

virtual tour.

Virtual PTMs on 2 June 2020

Parent- Teachers’ Meetings were held to
update parents of the academic performance
and growth of the students at school. It is a
time for school to meet and see our parents
and an opportunity to give feedback for the

child’s performance per term.

Last 2 June 2020, we had our Term 4 Virtual
PTMs which was well- attended by parents
from their homes. It was a good academic
exercise knowing that amidst the pandemic,
we still had parents who were eager to know
about their child’s eLearning performance.

Virtual Top Achiever Awards Ceremony on 3 June 2020

The Top Achiever Award Ceremony highlights
the recognition of the students who were able
to shine, persevere, perform and achieve much
during the academic year. They have exerted
much effort to stand out and make a difference

this ceremony is a way to pay tribute to
excellence at Ichthus

Virtual Grade 6 Moving Up Ceremony on 3 June 2020

At Ichthus, the Vision and Mission of the school, Be Attitudes, Fruit of the Spirit,
Ichthus Framework and academic viewpoint propel our students to be better

individuals. Love and care, Christ-centeredness, a drive for excellence, and faithfulness
are the core values which we endeavour each Ichthusian to have. The Moving Up

Ceremony is a day to mark an accomplishment of a 6-year primary school education
that embodies not just learning, but also character building with a heart.
