:
O my uncle, by Allah, if they put the
sun in my right hand and the moon
in my left, I would not abandon this
cause (call of Islam)”.

The Prophet (Say Allahoo alyhee
wa salam) refused their offer. He
would not give up the message.
They also tried other ways to get
him to stop telling people about
Islam. They called him names
and did very mean and hurtful
things to him.
It was said Abu
Lahab’s wife put
thorns in the
Prophet’s path
One day, when Rasool Allah How do you think the intestines
was at the Kabah, Abu Jahl (one smelled? How do you think the
of the leaders of the prophet sallah Allahoo alyhee wa
non-believers) and his friends salam felt?
were sitting nearby. They had
slaughtered a camel the day
before and Abu Jahl
encouraged them to put the
yucky camel intestines on the
Prophet sallahoo Alyhee wa
salam while he did sujood
(prostration). They started
laughing, too.
Another time, a man by the name of
Uqbah bin Abi Muit, saw the prophet
sallah Allahoo alyhee wa salam
praying at the Kabah. He got a piece
of cloth and tied it around the
Prophet’s neck, trying to strangle him.
Abu Bakr was passing by and saw him
and quickly pushed Uqbah away from
the prophet.
The Qurayshis also
began to really hurt the
Muslims, especially the
poor ones.
They would take the
poor Muslims and put
them on the hot, hot
sand, and put rocks on
top of them, so they
couldn’t move. Then,
they would ask them,
“Will you leave Islam?”
But the Muslims would not leave Islam.
So life became very hard for
the Muslims.
After being patient for
several years, Prophet
Mohammed sallah Allahoo
alyhee wa salam told the
Muslims that there was a
very good King in a land far
away and that they should
go there. They would be safe
there.
It was called Al Habasha
And so, a group of Muslims traveled
far to Al Habasha. They were
10 men and 4 women.
This was called “Al Hijra
al Oula” (The First Hijra).
The King’s name was
Al Najjashi.
He was very good to them
and they were safe there.
After some time, the Muslims in the
Habasha heard a ‘rumor’. A rumor is
something that isn’t true that people are
spreading. They heard that all of Mecca
had become Muslim! They got so happy
and some of them returned to Mecca.
But they found that it was not true and
things were still very hard on the Muslims.
They decided to go again to Al Habasha.
This was al Hijra al Thaniya. This time, they
were about 100 Muslims.
When the Qurayshis realized that
so many Muslims had gone to Al
Habasha, they got very angry.
They sent two people there to talk
to the King to send the Muslims
back. They brought with them lots
of gifts to bribe the King but he
did not listen to them.
Instead, he asked the Muslims what Islam was
about and why they had left Mecca. When he
heard them and listened to some Quran, he
believed in Islam, himself.
During this time, two very strong men
became Muslims. They were from the best
and strongest warriors of Mecca.
The first was Hamza, And the second
the Prophet Sallah was Omar Bin
Al Khattab
Allahoo alyhee wa رﺿﻰ ﷲ ﻋﻧﮭم
salam’s uncl
Hamza and Omar were not afraid of anyone
Omar would even go
and make salah at
the Kabah in front of
everyone (something
most of the Muslims
used to be too scared
to do).The Muslims
were very happy that
Omar and Hamza
had joined them.
One day, the Quraysh asked the prophet sallah Allahoo
alyhee wa aslam to show them a sign to prove that he
really was a prophet from Allah.
They asked for a miracle. What is a miracle? It is
something amazing...something humans can’t do.
Allah made an amazing miracle for them. He split the
moon in two.
The Quraysh still did not believe. They called it magic.
They tried asking some travelers who had come from far
away if they had seen the moon.
Even though the travelers said they had seen the
moon split, too, and there was no way Prophet
Mohammed could have worked magic on people from
far, the Quraysh still chose not to listen to the
Prophet.
Finally, the Quraysh decided on a new way
to punish the Muslims and to stop Islam
from spreading. They decided to do a
boycott.
They would not give Bani Hashim or Bani Abdul
Mutalib
● any foods
● or trade with them
● or buy from them
● or marry from them.
● They wrote these rules on a paper and hung it
in the Kabah.
The Muslims were stuck by
themselves in a small wadi called
Sheb Abi Talib.
This went on for 3 years. They
were stuck eating leaves of trees
and skins of animals.
There were some Quryashi
people who would secretly send
food to the Muslims, but it wasn’t
much food.
But there were some people of Quraysh
who felt bad that the Muslims were
starving and had nothing. Finally, they
decided to stop the boycott. When they
went to the paper at the Kabah, they
found the ants had eaten all of the
rules except the words “Bismillah” (In the
name of Allah).
Two Burials
A little while after the
boycott, the Prophet
sallah Allahoo alyhee wa
salam’s uncle, Abu Talib
passed away.
And just a short while
after, his wonderful wife,
Khadijah Radiyah Allah
Anha also passed away.
These two had been the
Prophet sallahoo Alyhee wa
salam’s biggest helpers
and supporters. It was a
hard time for the prophet.
Once Abu Talib passed
away, the Quryahshis
began to be much meaner
to the Prophet.
With things getting very
hard, the Prophet Salahooo
alyhee wa salam decided to
try to find help outside of
Mecca. He went to Taif, a
city near Mecca, with his
servant and friend Zaid Ibn
Hariytha. Prophet
Mohammed talked to the
chiefs there. He told them
about Islam and that Allah
was One. He asked if they
could help him.
But they refused to listen or help
him. Instead, they called the
children of the tribe and told
them to throw stones at the
Prophet and push him
out of the city. The prophet had
to run out, even while they hit
him with the stones, and his legs
bled. Zaid did his best to protect
him, but it was a very hard day.
Tired and hurt, the Prophet sallah Allahoo
alyhee wa salam prayed to Allah. The angel
Jibreel came down and said that the
people of Taif could be punished, but
Prophet Mohammed did not want them to
be hurt or punished. Instead, he hoped that
one day, they would come to accept Islam.
As Prophet Mohammed sat in a
garden, the owners of the
garden saw him and sent their
young slave, Addas, to give him
grapes. Before the Prophet ate
the grapes, he said “Bismillah”.
Addas was very surprised and
curious. What did that mean?
Prophet Mohammed then asked Addas where he was
from, and Addas said, “Nineveh”. The prophet
mentioned how Nineveh was the same land of
Prophet Yunus. He explained how he was a prophet
like Yunus, too, and that the prophets were all
brothers.
Addas believed him.
He was the only person that accepted Islam in Taif in
that visit.
A Meeting at Aqbah
The prophet sallahoo Alyhee wa salam didn’t give
up telling people about Islam and looking for
help, though. Because the Kabah was in Mecca,
people were always coming from far to visit and
do Hajj, and to trade with other tribes.
One day, 6 young men came to Mecca from the city of
Yathrib. They had heard about Prophet Mohammed
and they were curious to meet him. For a long time,
they had heard from the Jews in their city that a last
prophet was coming.
They wanted to know if this was the real last prophet.
They met Prophet Mohammed
at a place called Al Aqaba. The
prophet sallahoo alyhee wa
salam told them about Allah .
He told them he was a prophet
and they had to listen to Allah
and do what Allah likes. He
read to them from the Quran.
They believed in him
and became Muslims.
They promised to go back to their people
and tell them about Islam.
And they kept their promise.
At that time, Yathrib had 2 main Arab
tribes: Al Aws and Al Khazraj. They were
always fighting. Each tribe thought it
was the best.
As the 6 men began to spread the
message of Islam, the people who
accepted Islam from Al Aws and Al
Khazraj began to get along.
Meanwhile, back in Mecca...
One night, the prophet sallahoo Alyhee wa aslam
was sleeping near the Kabah, when he felt
something wake him up. It was the Angel Jibreel.
He had with him a very special creature- like a
horse but with wings. It was called “Al Buraq”.
https://muslimhands.org.uk/latest/2018/04/8-facts-you-didn-t-know-about-masjid-al-aqsa
The prophet rode the creature and went
from Mecca to Palestine. There, the most
amazing gathering took place. All of the
prophets of Allah were at the Masjid Al
Aqsa, and Prophet Mohammed prayed with
them, as their Imam.
After that, the Prophet went up
to the heavens. And he saw the
place of punishment and the
beautiful Jannah.
While Prophet Mohammed was up, Allah
gave the order that Muslims have to pray. At
first, Allah said Muslims have to pray 50
times a day. But as Prophet Mohammed was
going down, he met Prophet Moosa, who
asked him what had happened.
When Prophet Moosa heard that
Allah had given the order for
Muslims to pray 50 times, he told
him to ask Allah to make it less.
So, ٍProphet Mohammed asked
Allah to make it less. In the end,
Allah made it only 5 prayers but
the reward of 50!
Can you name the 5 prayers?
Remember the 6 young men who had met the
Prophet at Al Aqabah? The next year, they came
back to Prophet Mohammed, and this time, they
were 12 men.
This time, the prophet sent with them
Musa'ab bin Ameer to go back with them to
Yathrib.
Musab taught them what he had learned from
the prophet and invited the other people to
Islam. Soon there were more than 70 Muslims
living in Yathrib.
These Muslims came to meet the Prophet at Al
Aqbah again. They promised to take care of the
prophet just like they would take care of their
women and children. These people became
known as Al Ansar or the Helpers.
Life in Mecca became very very hard
for the Muslims. So Prophet Mohammed
told the Muslims to go to Yathrib where
the Ansar were. Slowly and secretly the
Muslims began leaving to Yathrib in
small groups.
It wasn’t easy to leave.
For some Muslims, it
meant leaving behind
family. For others, the
Qurayshis stopped
them and demanded
their money and
wealth. But Islam was
the most important
thing to them.
The Qurayshi kuffar were very angry that
the Muslims were escaping to Yathrib.
Soon there were very little Muslims left in
Mecca. These included Abu Bakr, Ali and
Prophet Mohammed.
Abu Bakr asked the
prophet about going to
Yathrib too, but Prophet
Mohammed told him to
wait. He said maybe Allah
would have Abu Bakr
travel with someone.
Abu Bakr understood
that maybe he would be
the one to go with the
prophet . He got two
camels ready for the great
escape.
The Quryashis finally came up with the most
evil plan. They decided to kill the prophet
sallahoo alyhee wa salam. Each tribe would
send one man from themselves to strike the
prophet ; that way they would all have
worked together to kill him and no single
tribe would get in trouble .
But Allah Subhanhoo wa tala protected his
prophet. Jibreel warned the prophet that the
Quryashis were going to wait outside of his
house to kill him. And Allah gave the order for
the prophet to go to Yathrib.
The prophet asked his cousin Ali bin Abu
Talib to sleep in his bed that night and
pretend to be him.
The prophet also asked Ali to return all of the
‘amanaat’ (trusts) the Qurayshis had left with
him. That was because some of the Qurayshis
would leave their special belongings with the
prophet. They knew he was honest and
trustworthy and would keep their things safe for
them. Even as they were thinking to kill him, the
prophet sallah Allahoo alyhee wa salam was
thinking about them and returning their things.
The Quryashis stayed
outside waiting for the
prophet to come out…
The prophet went out
of his house. He
recited some Quran
as he walked out, and
the Qurayshis did not
see him. Allah
subanahaoo wa tala
made their eyes not
see! He went to Abu
Bakr’s house.
