To solve this, we have to understand what the problem is, first of all. We have to put the pieces of the jigsaw correctly together to form the correct shape. (that is to rearrange the puzzle in the correct form). 2. Next, think about all the possible ways to rearrange the pieces of the puzzle. 3. Then, pick, according to you, the best way to rearrange these pieces. 4. Now, start making the puzzle. 5. While doing so, if you feel that your method is not working, switch to your other possible solutions and retry. Repeat steps 3 to 5 until you get a perfect shape of the jigsaw. Programming is like talking to a computer. To communicate with our friends and family, we speak in human languages like English, Thai etc. Similarly, in order to communicate with the computers, we use a language called “computer language” or “programing”. There are hundreds of human languages present in the world for communication with one another various. In the same way, we have lots of different computer languages available to communicate with the computers. Some computer languages are “text based” while others are “visual based”. Text-based programming: the language that we type in the form of sentences or set of instructions Visual-based programming: drag and drop of blocks to perform specific tasks that are given to the computer In human language, the combination of words is termed a “sentence” and in computer language we call that an “instruction” or a “command”. There are different online and offline tools available through which we can explore the wonders of programming. Let us try out the programming on the website www.code.org. On this free plat form, we can explore the unlimited free options available. Let us see how this visual-based programming works on code.org. Suppose we have a character on the computer screen and we want to move that character forward, then we just need to drag the block which says: “FORWARD” and run the program. That character will move forward. If we want to move the same character backward, we just need to drag and drop the block which says: “BACKWARD”. We can even give an instruction to the computer how far or fast that character should move. We can change the size and physical appearance of the character as well. Usually when we write sentences in our language we may make some mistakes and the teacher corrects them for us. In programming, we call that sentence mistake an “error”. Our software will tell us we are making an error and will ask us to correct that error to see the results of our program. Without even flying to another place, we can experience the place virtually just by sitting in front of a computer screen. This is the beauty of technology. There was a time when people used to keep records, write letters, make calculations, and wrote books manually by hand. Nowadays, technology has eased up our lives. There are different text editing tools available through which we can write anything anywhere in no time. These text editing softwares are helping the world in numerous ways and saving everyone a lot of time. One basic common text editing software is Microsoft WordPad. To save data on the computer, we are required to save the files we create. For example: You wrote a poem on WordPad. You will save this file with a specific name. Once we start creating different files on the computer we need to save those files in a Folder. A folder is a place where you keep your files. Let us assume you have a tiny library in your house. Your mother asks you to arrange the books on the shelves in the library. To keep your shelves organised, you will sort the books according to the subject and place them accordingly. Information Safety When you are surfing information online, it is very important to keep your personal information safe and secure. • While using the internet, do not share your information like name, age or home address to any stranger. • Do not trust anybody over the internet whom you have never met. books go in one block of the shelf, all English books go together in another block of the shelf, so on and so forth. Similarly, we want to keep our files organised in our computers as well. For this, we will keep all similar files in one folder. For example, all poems that you have typed will go in the folder labelled “Poems” and the letter that you typed will go in another folder named “Letters”.
