E is for the Elf-Child, in the novel, the townspeople called Pearl the Elf-Child.

F is for faith, the book is based upon a Puritan community, therefore they have
faith in every situation.

G is for Governor Bellingham, he is the governor of their community.

H is for Hester Prynne, Hester is one of the main characters in the book and is the
mother of Pearl.

V is for violent, the townspeople were violent with their words towards Hester and
Pearl.

W is for Winthrop, when the meteor goes across the sky, the townspeople take it
as a sign of his entry into heaven.

X is for Xenophobia, Pearl has xenophobia since she is afraid of strangers.

Y

Y is for young, at the end of the novel, Dimmesdale appears to be younger.

Z

Z is for zeal, the Puritans in the book had a zeal for God’s glory.
