Since, CIS is a nonprofit organization, from time
to time, we have unique opportunities that get
passed down to students. This happens by having a
partnership department in the CIS central office and
they seek out relationships within the community.
Therefore, we inherit resources to support our students
further. For instance, CIS was nominated by Harris
County and United Way to identify students who were
eligible for COVID-19 emergency relief funds, Macy’s
donated men’s and women’s winter jackets, vendors
donate event tickets, school supplies, and this is just to
name a few.
• My specific CIS@LSC-Tomball program is tailor
based on my needs assessment of the campus.
• Gather information by speaking to administration,
instructors, staff, and students.
• Use data to develop and implement a year-round
program to support students and help them achieve
their educational goals.
• Program marketing. We go into the classrooms to do
CIS presentations on the program and services, tabling
events, share our program on D2L community, flyers,
info graphs, Instagram, and partner with other campus
student support programs.

• Licensed clinical social worker by the state of Texas to provide individual counseling, support
groups, crisis intervention and support, consult on the BIT team, psycho education material through
the LSC VPSS email that goes out to all enrolled students, share resources on a D2L community
group, provide school supplies, connecting them to community resources to meet their basic needs
such as food banks, shelters, sliding scale medical clinics etc.
• Host a variety of workshops on relevant topics to address students’ concerns or improvement on
their current skill set.
• Solicit donations from LSC employees to help provide students with a holiday meal for
Thanksgiving and Winter break.
• Developed a self-care accountability support group to focus on our personal movement goals.
The goal of this group is to decrease anxiety, stress, and depression.
• Participate in the LSC VP Student Success Division meetings
• One of the two CIS College Cluster Leaders, where we lead/participate in the CIS college cluster
meetings, CIS in-service training meetings, and professional development trainings that are required
to keep my licenser in active status.
• Send a monthly report on all the activities and data of the CIS@LSC-Tomball program to the
President, VPSS, LSC System office CIS Liaison, and CIS central office.
