From The Editor’s Pen ……..

Leaders don’t wait,

They shape their frontiers.
The bigger the challenge,

The greater the opportunity.

Hearty greetings to the readers of e-PRERNA - The Inspiration
The session 2020-21 is a session of transformation, and has shown
expanding and changing definition of education. While corona has
atrociously rattled our lives, the role of a teacher too has undergone a sea
change in this crucial period.

From chalk to chat, from blackboard to white board
From offline to online, from real to virtual
………………but we did not give up.

As always D.A.V GEVRA under the dynamic leadership of our Principal
Mrs. Manisha Agrawal has steered through the storm and kept the torch of
education and learning glowing.
In this edition of e- PRERNA we are elated to share the achievements and
creative activities accomplished by our students connoting their flair and
zeal.
Our children are our treasure and we are committed to protect
and preserve them for a better future. Becoming techno-savvy is a requisite
for e-learning but keeping the mobile away and communicating and
respecting people is an education for life . Life is not to compare and
compete, life is to care and console. During this unprecedented time we need
to instill optimism, compassion, kindness and generosity to make our
children productive members of society.
A word with my dear students who are confined to their homes, away
from school or friends.
Everyday is a miracle. The pleasures and joys lift us up, the challenges and
adversities lift us even higher .Feel the strength and capacity in you and embrace
each moment with purpose and passion for the good you can do. If you want to
get the most out of your efforts then make that effort in first minute than in the
last, use your time and energy to make progress not to make
excuse……..Remember!!!!
Time and Tide waits for None.

Reminiscences of School Days

My school life is really an ideal one. It is ideal in the sense that it’s a
period of training our minds . The impressions which people acquire
during school, remains with them throughout their life. My school life
has prepared me to develop good habits as well as right and rational
thinking. It has made me duty-bound and obedient. Respect for
teachers and elders is my abiding faith. I obey my teachers and parents
and this is also one of the good habits that I have developed during my
school life. It is also the place where I have got great friends for lifetime.
I am blessed to be competent at both scholastic and co curricular
activities. All the qualities I’ve acquired are blessings of my school, they
have earned me immense love and respect from my teachers and
friends. My teachers have always encouraged and helped me in all
possible ways.

One of the greatest experiences of my school life is when I was elected
as the Associate Head Boy of the School. I am thankful to Principal
madam, Mrs. Manisha Agrawal for trusting me and bestowing me with
this opportunity. I have always remained committed to maintain dignity
and discipline of the school. It was really great to be the associate head
boy of this prestigious school.

PREFECTORIAL

I am grateful to our Principal, Mrs. Manisha Agrawal ma’am, the management,
teachers and students who have always believed in me and my abilities to lead the
school.

To be appointed as the Associate Head Girl of DAV Public School is definitely a
blessing as well as a great honour. For me it has brought both a sense of pride and
responsibility and the opportunity to serve the school. DAV Public School has
given me everything one could ask for. The school aims at providing integrated
development which inspires us to explore horizons beyond academics.

To every DAVIAN, I would like to say ‘grab all the opportunities that come your
way and make the school flag flutter high. The future depends on what you do
today’. I feel extremely grateful to be benefitted from the care of the teachers who
have helped me to overcome all the obstacles and leap forward on my educational
journey.

A leader is one who creates a culture where everyone can put forward their ideas
and feel that they are valued, therefore with utmost sincerity, positivity and
kindness. I shall work hard to achieve my goals and also help others to excel in
their strive.

COMPETITION

I grew up idolizing my teachers and my desires turned into a passion. I am a teacher
not only by profession and of course by my passion too. While this institute, my
colleagues, my students have given me bag full of memories.
I want to quote that I was a disciple throughout these days. While I was tutoring
kids, I was a tutee myself.
I joined D.A.V. Public School in the year 1989. This was a humongous challenge to
prove myself as a social studies teacher which I knew was a subject of least interest
to children. As a social science teacher I had to demonstrate my passion and
commitment to my pupils. I sourced appropriate study materials, allowed my
students to present themselves in the class, selected learning material to achieve
curriculum objectives. I analyzed needs, interests, strength and weaknesses of
students while developing my lesson flaw. As a social science teacher I had to foster
independent thinking with critical attitude in my students. Social science deals with
a variety of changes in society and hence I tried to keep myself updated with every
passing day.
With many ups and downs during these 31 years of my career the toughest spot
was ‘COVID-19’. The whole world was mournful of the situation and so was I.
Teachers were putting all their skills for online classes and I was confronting my
biggest apprehension COMPUTERS. With the help of supportive teachers,
colleagues and students I could turn this situation into a juncture. The biggest
support was received by our respected principal ma’am Mrs. Manisha Agrawal from
whom I learnt to use ‘Google Meet’ app initially.
This institute is a place of worship for me. I will always remember our shared
laughter, joys, and struggles. Thank you for being my travelling companies along a
large and important part of my way.
I am thankful to the almighty for giving me this journey which proved to be the best
for the rest of my life.

THE MAGIC OF FIVE

“VEDIC MATH is the key to solve any hard operations within our finger tips.
Here are 3 basic Vedic math operation related with 5 to make your calculations
faster and easier.”

SO LET THE MAGIC BEGIN

1. To find the square of any two digit number with 5

in its unit place

STEP:1 Write the product of 5 x 5 i.e. 25 and keep it apart.
STEP:2 Multiply the given tens digit with its successor.

The general syntax is:

Step:1 y5 x y5=___25 [y is any real number]

Step:2 y x (y+1)

Step:3 y5 x y5=y x (y+1)25
Ex (75)2=____25
7(7+1) = 56
... (75)2 = 5625

2. Multiplication of any number with 5

STEP:1 Identify whether the number is even or odd number
STEP:2 IN CASE OF EVEN NUMBER

 Divide the number with 2
 Add zero(0)in units place.
 EX…2464 x 5=2464/2 = 1232

Finally 2462 x 5 = 12320
STEP:3 IN CASE OF ODD NUMBER

 Subtract 1 from the given odd number
 Add 5 in the units place

EX…3775 x 5 = (3775-1)/2 = 1887
Finally 3775 x 5 = 18875
3. Dividing a large number with 5
STEP:1 Multiply the given number with 2
STEP:2 Move just one decimal point to left.
EX…245/5 = 245 x 2 = 49.0 or 49
EX…2129/5 = 2129 x 2 = 4258 = 425.8

"Atmanirbhar Bharat"

After breaking the shackles of slavery of decades, our
country is constantly moving towards self-
reliance. After independence together Indians have
worked hard with their skills, endurance, honesty and
brought development. Now India is prospering in
technology, medicine and all such factors that is
necessary for a good life. Natural resources are tamed
in a skillful manner and yield is exported from our
country and now we are no more depended on foreign
countries. No one in the whole world can compete with
us. Our country has greatest man power. Scientific
progress like "Mission Mars and Chandrayaan-2" has set
an example in front of the whole world. So, in this way
we are heading towards "ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT".

The Sun is extremely hot. And still shines in dawn’s early light.
It orbits our planet – NOT! She looks like a star
Let’s fly to the Sun As from Earth, it’s not far.
It will be lots of fun Our neighbour’s sparkling sight.
And remember the course we’re to plot. Earth is third from the superb Sun.

So cold, it would make the plants wilt. With hot and cold water
Such icy-cold air For summer and winter.
