TWHBEA changes Annual
Breeding Reporting Dates and

Foaling Year Dates

On January 19, 2016 a motion was passed to change the annual reporting of the breeding year beginning and end
dates. The reporting dates are therefore changed from October 1 – September 30 to September 1 – August 31.
The stallion breeding report deadline for a breeding season will also be changed to October 1st from its’ current
deadline of October 15th. The new filing date is 30 days from the end of the breeding year that the stallion report reflects,
giving the stallion owner/custodian 2 additional weeks to submit their report each year. This change modifies all applicable
forms on the TWHBEA website, effective November 2016, after the bulk of the season’s stallion breeding reports have
been received in our offices.

This change allows foals born on or after September 1 through August 31st of the following year to be considered the
complete foal crop for that particular breeding season. This is a change from the current foaling year of October 1st –
September 30th.

The effective date of the change is September 1, 2016 and will be reflected on stallion breeding reports filed October 1,
2017 and in the foaling dates for those born September 1, 2017 and after.

So, in a horseshoe as it were, there is nothing different this year from previously followed practices except that foals
born after September 1, 2016 fall into the 2017 crop and next year’s stallion breeding reports are due on October 1, 30
days after the breeding season is completed.
