As we prepare on our upcoming winter meetings at TWHBEA I want to invite all members past
and present to come by TWHBEA in what we are referring to as a Homecoming.
Like has been said many times before “your house is never as clean as when company is coming”.
Please take a tour of our iconic building and see it shine.

TWHBEA has had over the years approximately 84,000 unique members since 1935 and has registered
500,000+ Tennessee Walking Horses. We are now preparing for our future service for those and all the
new members to come. We are doing this through preparing and updating everything from our building, our
computer systems and our web presence. We still have in my experienced opinion the greatest equine for all
ages ever produced. Our old motto rings true “Ride one today, Own one Tomorrow!”

You will soon be able to see much of TWHBEA’s history from the past 55 years with the beginning of the
Voice of The Tennessee Walking Horse magazine. In December electronically archived Voice magazines will
be viewable through our website. We have “The 60’s” completed and will be adding each decade as they are
scanned and archived. The Voice Magazine is the History Book of our great breed and TWHBEA. For our
pedigree research professionals and for those who would like to see older horses from their own companions
pedigree, we are also compiling a “Research Version” of these scanned voices whereas you type in a
name and it will show each photo, each listing in a show result or news story and each ad ever run on that
particular, horse, person or place. As a self-described “Walking Horse Nerd” I can’t wait until it is completed.

We have had a wonderful year with many positive things happening in our show rings, our trails, in our
businesses and in our personal enjoyment of the Tennessee Walking Horse. Our Homecoming Festivities will
allow us all to discuss all the great things going on in everyone’s unique world of their Tennessee Walking Horse.

If I don’t get to see you, I want to wish each and every one of you a wonderful holiday season and a very
Happy and Prosperous New Year in 2018.

It has been my honor and pleasure to be your President.

Thank you for a great year!

FROM YOUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR | GENERAL EDITOR

TWHBEA – Lewisburg

RORY R. WILLIAMS

Executive Director|General Editor

Happy holidays to everyone. This has been a good year with the shows and breeding
numbers up; it appears the gloomy days of uncertainty are behind us, but keep up your
guard. Always do what’s right, so that positive influence may continue in our industry.
The association met budget in registrations and memberships and exceeded expectations for mares
bred on the 2017 stallion breeding report metric. So, all in all, we feel very good about the year
and sincerely positive about the coming year, 2018. Horse shows were fantastic this year and I am
anxious to see them again this coming spring, summer and fall. I’m sure you all are ready for a short
break to recuperate with some downtime, some family time and big doings over the holidays!

The magazine production was off a bit from expectations but still did very well in 2017, being the
first whole year working with a new graphics and layout company, Open Look Business Solutions,
Inc. We appreciate the hard work they give us as we tax them with ever increasing complexity and
urgent turn-around times. Thanks to all our customers that purchased ads this year – without you,
there would not be a magazine at all. So, THANK YOU!! We are certain that 2017 editions will be
kept for years to come and referenced in the future for a look back at what a great year it was.

As we move into 2018 with predictions already being positive for foal registrations, we ask that
you help us grow even bigger and better. To keep costs down for purchasing ads, we need more of
them from typical AND non-standard entities and we need payment at point of sale. It only makes
sense, after all. Let’s all work together and find those businesses and people. Please remember that
we have multi-ad discounts available and other options for telling “your story.” We are thrilled at the
opportunity to feature your family, your barn/stables and your horses.

The season of giving is upon us; give thankful praise to the One that gave us salvation through
Jesus Christ’s birth. Be of a clean heart and right spirit. Honor the gift given to us and share His love
with your neighbor.

Here is the Christmas edition of the Voice of the Tennessee Walking Horse™; we truly hope you’ll
enjoy our magazine.

When you pull your big horse trailer out of the

for the next week plus four horses, you never
know what adventures await you. We headed out to
Guthrie Oklahoma for the Western Dressage World
Championships at the Lazy E Arena with high hopes
and a year’s worth of practice and planning. It was
an easy trip and hordes of people were waiting for us
to arrive with leis and music. Like a bad episode of

Protect Your Pet | Protect America

Led by the great pretender—The Humane Society of the United States—EXTREME
animal rights organizations beg for money under the false pretense of animal
welfare, but their money is actually used to disrupt all animal agriculture, hunting,
fishing and even pet ownership. Donations to these organizations are not
intended to help local animal shelters, which are located within and supported by
their local communities.

Protect The Harvest was created to defend and preserve the freedoms of
American consumers, farmers, ranchers, outdoor enthusiasts, and animal owners.

OUR MISSION: Inform. Protect. Respond. @Protect Harvest
/ProtectTheHarvest
INFORM /ProtectTheHarvest
America’s consumers, businesses and decision-makers
about the threats posed by animal rights groups and anti-
farming extremists.
PROTECT
Our freedoms and way of life by creating lasting legal
safeguards for farmers, ranchers, hunters, anglers, and
animal owners.
RESPOND
To the activities of radical groups by opposing their efforts
to pass laws or enact regulations that would restrict our
rights, limit our freedoms, and hinder our access to safe,
affordable food.
