The Christmas In July Horse Show
started off the 4th of July shows
and was held at the Bedford Ag Center
in Shelbyville, Tennessee, but due to
weather was moved to the Calsonic Are-
na for the final night. Chris Bobo, David
Sisk and Sam Sorrell were judges for the
three day event of 72 classes. The show
had 438 entries over the three days and
thrilled new show manager Carol Missil-
dine with the great success of the show..
Mach 1 with Jimmy McConnell were
named the Christmas In July Grand
Champions for owner Donnie and Char-
lotte Taylor. Reserve went to Minor
Ordeal and Tyler Baucom for the Mona
Dean family and rounding out the top
three was Joe Pa and Winky Groover.

July 22nd at the MTSU Livestock Center Playmate and Claire Winstead
in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The World Reserve Youth High Point Champion-

of the Tennessee Walking Horse. The Adult High Point Champion- El’s A
classes were split between Youth 11 Poppin and Rachel Cowles

Scholarship Recipients
The Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association recognizes the impor-
tance of youth to this industry and the significance of supporting and encouraging tomorrow’s
leaders. The TWHBEA Educational Scholarship Program was established in 1993. In 2017 the
Glenn Dowell Foundation started contributions to this program. This year we have awarded five
$1,000 scholarships, one graduate scholarship and four undergraduate scholarships Congratula-
tions to the recipients and good luck in your continued education.

Ally Puckett of Wartrace, Tennessee, is receiving a under-
graduate scholarship. She is attending East Tennessee State
University. Upon completing her Bachelor of Science in
Nursing, she plans to apply to the Vanderbilt University’s
School of Nursing Nurse-Midwifery program. Her goal is
to join the nursing education community as a professor of
nursing. Ally is another one of our scholarship recipients
that was born into the walking horse industry and has
