American National Becomes Title Sponsor of
TWHBEA GO! and Motivated Mares Programs

American National Insurance has signed on as an
annual sponsor of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’
& Exhibitors’ Association (TWHBEA) and will be the title
sponsor of the Gelding Opportunity (GO!) and Motivat-
ed Mares programs. Because of their sponsorship, $1,000
will be added to the jackpot of each program this year.
The sponsorship money along with the nomination fees
collected will be paid out to the top mares and geldings in
each division (performance and pleasure).

“Thanks to the support of American National Insur-
ance we’ll be able to increase the payouts in these two
programs by over 200% compared to last year,” says Mark
Farrar, TWHBEA Executive Director. “We look forward
to working with Dean Crawford and American National
Insurance to grow these programs and reward members
who are showing mares and geldings.”

Points for TWHBEA programs are accumulated
through September 30. With many shows between now
and then, this is a great time to sign up and start accu-
mulating points. The nomination fee is $25 per horse and
more information can be found at www.twhbea.com (The
Breed > Programs) or by calling 931-359-1574.

TWHBEA Hosts
Industry Associations

The TWHBEA Executive Committee re-
cently hosted representatives from the Tennessee
Walking Horse National Celebration (TWHNC),
Walking Horse Trainers’ Association (WHTA),
Walking Horse Owners’ Association (WHOA),
and Foundation for the Advancement and Support
of the Tennessee Walking Show Horse (FAST) for
an informal luncheon to discuss the current

state of the industry and share accomplishments
and challenges. TWHBEA Executive Director
Mark Farrar commented that while each associa-
tion has their own mission, ultimately we all want
what’s best for the horse and our industry. “We
may not always see eye to eye on every issue, but
I feel like our members expect us to communicate
and work together wherever possible.”

Tennessee’s Horse Pays a Visit to Tennessee’s Capital

TWHBEA celebrated National Ag Day on March 22 with a return to
Ag Day on the Hill in Nashville. It’s been several years since the walking
horse industry participated in the event, but TWHBEA teamed up with
The Celebration to make sure the official State horse was well-represent-

visit from the reigning World Grand Champion, JUSTIFIED HONORS.

Big Changes for 2022 National Futurity

The Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ & Exhibitors’ Association (TWHBEA) and The Celebration have been
in communication for the last two months regarding combining and merging classes into one comprehensive
schedule which would eliminate the TWHBEA National Futurity as a separate show on the first Wednesday
evening of The Celebration.
For the past several years TWHBEA has included jackpot classes and at the 2021 Futurity had a schedule of 28
classes. TWHBEA and The Celebration are both interested in promoting a true Futurity and getting back to
having true Futurity classes that qualify entries for the World Grand Championship classes at The Celebration.
David Sisk, TWHBEA Vice President and Chair of the Breeders’ Committee, said his committee had several
goals they wanted to achieve this year – return to a true futurity, bring two and three-year-olds back into the
program, make sure there are classes in every division for nominated entries, and build excitement and greater
recognition that will start making the futurity prestigious again.
“I am extremely excited about these changes to our show and I look forward to the excitement they will bring
to this amazing breed’s Futurity program. TWHBEA has been a great collaborative partner as we have worked
through the details,” said Celebration CEO Warren Wells.
Sisk echoed Wells’ excitement and added, “We’re excited to be adding two and three-year-olds back to the Fu-
turity program and appreciate The Celebration working with us to add more excitement and provide additional
recognition of the breeders of Tennessee Walking Horses.”
The entry deadline for Futurity nominations will be the same as The Celebration entry deadline on August 2,
2022. The nomination fees:
• Sire – $200 plus on stud fee donated to auction
• Dam – $50
• A $200 fee can be paid for a foal as a weanling for that foal (and mare) to be included in the Futurity for
all four years.
• Weanlings – $50
• Yearlings (previously nominated) – $50
• Two and Three-Year-Olds (previously nominated) – $50
• Two and Three-Year-Olds (not previously nominated) – $250
An online nomination form and more information about the TWHBEA National Futurity can be found at
www.TWHBEA.com/futurity.
