APPRECIATION INRODUCTION OF SUNGAI LEMBING

ASSALAMUALAIKUM, a praise of gratitude to Allah, Lord of all the worlds for the grace be-
stowed on His servants. Surrender to the desired destiny to the contents of nature completely.
Grateful to the divine blessings for successfully completing this book. Every discussion that
has been made is not as easy as planned and every one that is planned does not always go
smoothly. All the efforts and experiences will definitely be seen as strength and life lesson in
each group member even if they have fallen several times. We would like to thank the lectur-
ers of Measured Drawing for the 2021st December Session for giving us perfect guidance and
explanations from the very beginning since this assignment was distributed until the process of
completing this book. In addition, we thank the lecturers for trusting us to complete this book
successfully. Without the help and commitment of the lecturers, prayers and support for the
students, this book would not have been made possible

Sungai Lembing is a small town in the Kuantan District,in Pahang,Malaysia. It is located about
42 km (26 miles) northwest of Kuantan. The town was established in the 1900s as a tin mining
community when the British company Pahang Consolidated Company Limited (PCCL) estab-
lished the tin mining industry there after mining activities were started in 1886. Sungai Lembing
have their own electricity , schools , cinemas , petrol stations and a hospital.

In 1926, devastating floods caused mining activities to be halted for three months. The Great INRODUCTION OF ASIAN BRITISH HOUSE
Depression and the Japanese occupation of Malaya drastically affected the mining industry in
this town. Since the independence of Malaya, Sungai Lembing declined as global demand
and the price of tin fell, resulting in the closure of the mine in 1987. Many people fled, causing
amenities such as shops and gas stations to be closed.

After 2001, Sungai Lembing was revitalized as a heritage tourist attraction with the opening of
the Sungai Lembing Museum. The government's subsequent investment has made this area as
one of the most important tourist attractions in Pahang. In 2014, the town had a population of
around 5,000 people. Large fires in 2019 raised concerns over the preservation of the historic
buildings

Asian British House, is a historic residential settlement built in 1948. Originally
this land was a vast and wild forest before settlers come in and develop to build
the town. This house was built and renovated by the British company Pahang
Consolidated Company Limited (PCCL) because the first house owner is Mr.
Haji Hanapi is one of the staff who serve there in the beginning. Now,he has
passed down the house to his son,En. Ashari @ Samsudin Bin Haji Hanapi.

En. Ashari @ Samsudin Bin Haji Hanapi who was born in 1937,who is now 84 years old,had served as an as-
sistant staff of PCCL Hospital Sungai Lembing in 1964 for 2 years and got married in 1963. Originally this
house was just an ordinary wooden house. However, it has been modified in stages from year to year.

This house is actually called as Asian Bungalow House based on the address, but we
changed it into the new name because we want to make it more unique name than before-
also meaningful for our Measured Drawing Project.

owner of the house is Malaysian. Meanwhile, the terms of British, because of the architec-
ture who sent from PCCL company from British.

The floor plays an important role in a building and it provides a flat surface to the building.
This house uses 2 types of floors,namely wood and concrete. Wooden floors are found in the
Living room, Guest area, Family area, Master bedroom, Bedroom 2 and Bedroom 3. Mean-
while,concrete on the porch,veranda, Dining area, Store, and Kitchen .

CONCLUSION

The traditional or well known traditional Malay house is part of the highly valued archi-
tectural heritage of Malaysia. It has been designed and built by most people to show
how skilled and creative they are in the field of architecture. It displays wisdom in the
use and expansion of space according to current needs, weather adaptation and the
use of building materials.
