Surgical Patient Positioning

Vac-Pac's

Olympic Vac-Pacs have been used for more than 30 years in
thousands of hospitals for improved surgical positioning. Vac-
Pacs are soft pads, which are available in various sizes and
shapes, filled with thousands of tiny plastic beads. the Vac-Pac is

moulded around the patient, then a suction line is attached.

As a vacuum is created inside the Vac-Pac, outside atmospheric
pressure forces the beads together, and the
Vac-Pac becomes firm.

When the suction line is disconnected the Vac-Pac retains its firm,
moulded shape to hold the patient securely in position.

After surgery the valve is opened and as air re-enters the Vac-Pac
it becomes soft again, ready for re-use.

External Fixation

External Skeletal Fixation (ESF) is a useful tool for the veterinary
surgeon providing advantages in the management of numerous
fracture types and locations.

ESF helps maintain joint mobilty and use of the limb as well
as providing a lower risk alternative to internal fixation where
infection is present.

IMEX™ Veterinary, Inc. of Longview, Texas was founded in 1990 with
the mission of providing the veterinary surgeon with premium,
affordable external skeletal fixation (ESF) pin technology.

Unlike traditional and newer KE frames the IMEX™ ESF system
features dramatically improved connecting rods and positive
threaded pins used directly through the primary clamp bolt
to enable much simpler frames whilst improving stablility and
patient safety.

With the IMEX™ ESF system there is much less emphasis on full-
pins and frame complexity with safe pin corrider philosophy to
reduce patient morbidity. This makes the overall system more
economical, reduces operative time, makes it
safer and more effective.

LINEAR FIXATION KITS

Linear external skeletal fixation (ESF) is the most
common form of veterinary ESF and usually consists
of percutaneous transfixation pins attached to one
or more external bars. Specialised pin gripping
clamps are typically utilised to connect external bars

and pins.

SK® starter kits are designed to provide all necessary hardware to construct a reliable frame on a given patient. The
selection of clamps, rods, drill bits, drill sleeves and wrenches is identical for each kit option. Available in four kit
choices differentiated by half-pin style (Duraface® or Interface®) with an option on those selections for pointed or
no-point versions. Recommended kit: Part No. 300 SKTDF (shown below).

HYBRID FIXATION KITS

When components of a traditional linear ESF and circular ESF
frames are combined they are considered a Hybrid Frame.
These hybrid frames are practical alternatives to transarticular
ESF frames for stabilisation of very small fracture fragments.
In addition, hybrid frames can be alternatives to complete
circular ESF frames for selected growth deformities.

The SK™ Hybrid Starter Kit contains a large variety of components to allow construction of advanced hybrid frames
or multiple hybrid frames. Some items within the starter kit can be interchanged with others from the linear or
