In Bazi principle of fate and luck forecasting, is to analysis the Heaven Stem and Earth
Branch of the year, month, day and hour pillars as well as the Generating and
Controlling Cycles of the 5 Elements.
Bazi has 8 characters which are derived from 10 Heaven Stems and 12 Earth Branches.
In total, there are only 22 characters and it is not so di cult to remember.
However, the interpretation of the relationship between the Generating and
Controlling elements in Bazi can be very di cult for some people.
By converting a person’s date and time of birth to a Bazi with the Heaven Stems and
Earth Branches together with the relationship of Generating and Controlling
principles, a set of analysis tool called 10 Deities or 10 Gods or Shi Shen 十神 can be
used.

5 Rats Method To Plot Hour Pillars  

The formula of Five Rats Method (Wu Shu Dun)

The last pillar in the Ba Zi erection is the hour pillar.

To erect the time of birth, the 5 Rats Method [Wu Shu Dun] can be used.

The formula of 5 Rats Method (Wu Shu Dun) :-

The difference in Time Zone  

If the birth time is on the border line, for example, 9.05am, although it belongs to [Si E6]
hour, some countries may adjust their time for energy-saving purposes. If the fate and
luck of a person does not correspond to the forecasting, it is advisable to adjust the time
to an earlier [Shi Chen], that is [Chen E5] and check again.

If someone is born on the other half side of the earth with a di erent time zone, we do
not need to adjust his [Ba Zi] to the time in China. This is because the calculation is based
on the relative positions of the Earth, Sun and planets.

Luck Cycle is to determine a person’s luck in his whole life. It takes 10 years to change to
another luck cycle.

Luck Cycle is derived from the month pillar.

Male born on Yang year and Female born on Yin year: Forward sequence.
Male born on Yin year and Female born on Yang year: Reverse sequence.

We use the [Wan Nian Li] to erect the Ba Zi chart.  
Based on the Year Pillar, [Gui H10, Wei E8] belongs to Yin year.
For a male person born in Yin year, we use the reverse sequence for the Luck Cycle.

The derivation of Luck Cycle is based on the month pillar.

As the month pillar is Jia H1, Ying E3, the reverse sequence for the 1st luck pillar is [Gui
H10, Chou E2], 2nd luck pillar is [Ren H9, Zi E1], 3rd luck pillar is [Xin H8, Hai E12] and so
on.

One luck pillar lasts for 10 years. What age to start in the 1st luck pillar?

The determination of the age is based on the number of days from the day of birth to the
“Jie” day.

10 Years Luck Cycle is a time table of a person’s life. A person foresees whether his luck is
good or bad by checking the 10 Years Luck Cycle.

The 1st luck pillar is the beginning of the Luck Cycle.
The change period from the 1st luck pillar to the 2nd luck pillar is known as Jiao Tuo.  

Male born on Yang year and Female born on Yin year: Forward sequence.
Male born on Yin year and Female born on Yang year: Reverse sequence.

Count the number of days from the Birth day to the last day of the current month Jie.

Yin Male, Yang Female - Count Backward
Count the number of days from the Birth day to the rst day of the current month Jie .

From the day of birth, every 3 days is represented by 1 year. Do not count the day of
birth but count the next day until the [Jiao Jie] day.
We consider the whole year, if it is only 1 day, do not count it as 1 year.

If there are 2 days, treat them as 1 year.

A male born in Yin year requires a reverse count to the 1st day of the current month (Jie).

 
Every count of 3 days is equivalent to 1 year. Therefore, 6 days is equivalent to 2 years.
We consider the whole year, if it is only 1 day, do not count it as 1 year. If there are 2 days,
treat them as 1 year.

 
In this case, the rst luck pillar begins with the age of 3, the next luck pillar will take over
at the age of 13, 23, 33, and so on.

Elements of its Hidden Heaven Stem.
In total, there are 12 Earth Branches:-
There are 3 Earth Branches with only 1 Hidden Heaven Stem, Zi E1, Mao E4, You E10
There are 2 Earth Branches with 2 Hidden Heaven Stems, Wu E7, Hai E12
The remaining 7 Earth Branches have 3 Hidden Heaven Stems.
Hidden Heaven Stem gives important information for Bazi analysis. It is useful to
remember them. They are divided into 3 groups for easy memorization.

[Ba Zi] has 8 characters which are derived from 10 Heaven Stems and 12 Earth
Branches. In total, there are only 22 characters and it is not so di cult.
However, the interpretation of the relationship between the Generating and
Controlling elements in [Ba Zi] can be di cult.
By converting a person’s date of birth to a [Ba Zi] with the Heaven Stems and Earth
