2. ประโยคเงือนไขที่ไม่เป็ นจริงหรือเง่ือนไขสมมติ (Unreal Condition or
Hypothetical Conditions, Supposition) ซ่ึงแบง่ ออกเป็น 2 ลกั ษณะคือ

2.1 เง่ือนไขทีไ่ มจ่ ริงหรือเป็นไปไม่ไดใ้ นอนาคต (Unreal Condition in
Future) มรี ูปแบบโครงสร้างดงั น้ี

1. ใน If-Clause ท่ีแสดงเง่ือนไขไม่จริงในอนาคตน้ี จะใช้ “were”
กบั ทกุ ๆ ประธาน
2. รูป Future Simple in the Past น้นั ก็คือรูปทยี่ อ่ มาจาก Future
Simple
เพยี งแตเ่ ปลี่ยน “will” เป็น “would” หรือเปล่ยี น “shall” เป็น
“should”
3. ความหมาย “were” “would” และ “should” จะแสดงการสมมติ
ท้งั ส้ิน เช่น

“If my boyfriend were here.....” แสดงวา่ ฉนั รู้ว่าแฟนของ
ฉนั ไม่มีโอกาสจะอยทู่ ่ีน่ีไดเ้ ลย

“If I won the lottery……” หมายความวา่ ผมไม่มที างท่ีจะ
ถูกรางวลั ลอตเตอร่ีไดเ้ ลย

“If I were an Emperor…..” ถา้ ผมเป็นจกั รพรรดิ ประโยคน้ี
แสดงถึงความเป็นไปไม่ไดอ้ ยา่ งยงิ่

ขอ้ สังเกต If I had had the money, I would have bought a new car.

I should never have done that work if you had not helped me.
I might never have gone to see it if you hadn’t told me about it.

1. รูป Future Prefect in the Past คือรูปทย่ี อ่ มาจาก Future Prefect
Tense แตเ่ ปล่ยี น “will” เป็น “would” หรือเปลยี่ น “shall” เป็น
“should”
2. ความหมายของรูปเงื่อนไขไม่จริงยอ้ นอดีตน้ี จะมีความหมาย
เหมือนกบั โครงสร้าง “wish + Past Perfect” กลา่ วคอื เป็นเงือนไข
ของส่ิงทีเ่ กิดข้นึ แลว้ และไดก้ ระทาลงไปตรงขา้ มกบั รูปประโยค
เสมอ หรือเป็นเง่ือนไขที่ตรงกนั ขา้ มกบั ความเป็นจริง (Contrary to
the Facts) เช่น

“If Sirichet studied hard…..” (=ผพู้ ดู กลา่ วพาดพิงถงึ การ
เรียนของศริ ิเชษฐ์ทีแ่ ลว้ มาและเป็นความจริงทเ่ี กิดข้ึนแลว้ ศิริเชษฐ์
ไม่ไดต้ ้งั ใจเรียน เขาจึงสอบตก)

“ If you had asked him…..” (= ผพู้ ูดกล่าวพาดพิงถึง
เร่ืองราวทีแ่ ลว้ มา และความจริงทีเ่ กิดข้นึ คอื คุณไมไ่ ดข้ อร้องเขา เขา
ก็เลยไม่ช่วยคณุ )
