About Us

What we do

Our most important product is knowledge. The knowledge of high temperature thermal insulation textiles and relevant
applications. Whether we weave, braid or coating in house or partner with other leading manufacturers, we can make or
supply the worlds largest range of heat resistant and high performance textiles. Textile Technologies Europe Ltd, formally
known as Cheshire Ribbon Manufacturing began production of trilby hat band ribbons in 1900’s. Over the past decades,
we have accumulated a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience in thermal insulation and heat resistant textiles.
We perceive ourselves to be a “knowledge centre for all things heat related”.

How we think

At Textile Technologies Europe Ltd, we operate on the basis of a simple philosophy: ‘Treat others as you want to be
treated’. This philosophy is reflected in the relationships between the company and all of its employees, how the employees
treat each other, how we treat our customers, how we treat our suppliers, and, we hope, in our personal lives.
The philosophy is simple in statement, but has a tremendous effect. It forces each of us to think about putting ourselves in
the other person’s shoes, and then treating that person as we would want to be treated in the same position.

How we work

Knowledge of high temperature insulation textiles is the essence of what we offer to our customers. Consequently, our
advisors are all people with a technical background. This ensures clear communication. From our sales perspective,
our philosophy enables us to put ourselves in the position of our customer. If we are the customer, we want service,
knowledgeable sales advice, good-quality products at a fair price, and on-time delivery. Therefore, we want to give our
customers exactly what we would want and treat them how we would want to be treated.

* These products are designed to reflect ‘radiant’ heat and not designed to be in direct contact with the heat source. Whilst the aluminium foil is
rated up to 400°C it can be limited by the underlying adhesive used to laminate the foil to the glass. If the product is used in very close proximity to
the heat source then Shieldtex780 or MET-TEX should be considered.

Technora® Webbing Tape

• Manufactured from virgin Technora® para aramid yarn produced exclusively by the 350°C
Teijin® chemical company.

• The main characteristics of this fibre include high tensile strength, a high modulus of
elasticity and excellent resistance to heat and chemical agents, especially acids and
alkalis.

• Technora yarns are very fine ensuring the tapes have a homogenous and regular
resting surface making it an excellent product that will not mark hot sheets of glass.

• Technora tapes have excellent mechanical characteristics (excellent resistance to
cutting, abrasion, tearing and compression) while maintaining the same heat resist-
ance characteristics (up to 350°C).

Applications

• Technora tapes are used for many industrial applications and especially as protective covering for sliding rollers in
hardening furnaces in the flat glass industry.

PBO Zylon® Webbing Tape 650°C

• Manufactured from 100% PBO yarn. This is truly a ‘high tech’ yarn with better heat and
abrasion resistance than any other high performance yarn yet maintaining a very soft
feel.

• It has superior tensile strength and modulus to aramid fibres (such as Kevlar®’).
• It also offers excellent chemical, creep, and cut/abrasion resistance.
• The tensile strength and impact energy absorption of PBO is more than twice that of

aramid yarns.
• Rated to 650°C.

Applications

• Excellent covering for rollers or pushing devices in the hollow glass and aluminium
processing industries.

• Prevents thermal shocks and micro cracks that may be fatal during bottling operations.
• Can be used for guiding items along automatic production lines when folded.

Basalt Webbing Tape (Twill Weave)

• Excellent exhaust insulation wrap. 700°C

• Higher tensile strength than E glass.

• Maintains integrity at temperatures up to 560°C. Basalt fibre exhibits
superior temperature resistance compared to E glass fibres in the range

300°- 560°C.
• Short periods to 700°C.
• Resistant to electromagnetic radiation.

• Excellent resistance to chemicals.

Applications

• Excellent Exhaust Wrap.
• Excellent heat insulation of pipes in nuclear plants as basalt is known to resist degradation caused by radiation.
• Basalt also functions in very low temperatures down to – 260°C so are useful for insulating liquid nitrogen tanks and pipes.
