Our One Minute Goal Setting : A Summary
We teach ourselves what we want to learn when:
1. We take the time to quietly think about what we really want to teach ourselves.

And decide what our goals are.
2. We write our goals in the first person, present tense, as though we are already

achieving our goals. (For example: “We are enjoying the homeroom session
with our homeroom advisor.”)
3. We write down our goals briefly, so we can read them often in only one minute.
4. We are specific when writing our goal. We set a date to achieve our goal.
(For example: “We are enjoying the open notebook session.”)
5. We use good-feeling words. (For example: We enjoy ....) Each time we read
our goals, we imagine how good we feel.
6. We took one minute, several times a day, to stop and look at our goals and at
our behavior – and then we see if our behavior matches our goals.

ETIKA BERSAHABAT

Berusaha
menjadi riri anda yang hebat!

2. Kepercayaan asas persahabatan - Ikhlas dan jujur. Jangan sesekali merosakkan
pemikiran orang lain. Fikirkan dahulu apa yang ingin anda katakana.

3. Fahami hati budi orang lain - Setiap orang berbeza antara satu sama lain. Jangan
melabel orang sebelum mengenali mereka. Setiap individu mempunyai
kelebihan masing-masing. Luangkan masa mengenali dan bergaul dengan
rakan.

Adakah
anda suka pada orang yang ringan tangan? Apabila anda merasakan begitu,
anda orang pertama yang perlu melakukannya.

5. Rendahkan ‘hidung’ anda - Buang rasa sombong dan bongkak. Memang perlu
menghargai diri tetapi bukan menunjuk-nunjuk!

bantu anda kea rah kejayaan.

MENJADI SAHABAT SEJATI

4

10. Mengikhlaskan hati anda - Persahabatan yang berlandaskan keikhlasan kekal
lama.
bersifat hipokrit. Tunjukkan diri anda yang sebenar.

11. Ringankan tulang menolong rakan-rakan - Jadilah orang yang suka menolong
orang lain. Orang yang menerima pertolongan anda pasti menyukai anda,
menyumbang keintiman persahabatan jangka panjang. Mungkin satu hari nanti
anda pula yang memerlukan pertolongan.

mendapatnya tetapi jangan jadi kaki bodek!

13. Jangan terlalu banyak bercakap - If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at
all…..

kesalahan orang lain.

15. Buang perasaan syok sendiri - Manusia memang suka menyatakan kelebihan
dan kemahiran yang dimiliki. Jangan sangka orang suka dengan cerita anda.
Kurangkan bercerita tentang diri sendiri sebaliknya fahamilah orang lain.

16. Tunjukkan tanda setuju - Hargai idea orang lain dan menzahirkan jika anda setuju
dengannya.

17. Jangan hanya pandai mengkritik - Wujudkan suasana yang positif. Elakkan kerap
merungut, mengkritik dan mencari salah orang.

18. Pandai memberi respons - Apabila orang lain berkomunikasi, tunjukkan yang
anda minat dengan perbualannya dan berikan tumpuan. Sekiranya ada cerita
lucu, senyum dan ketawa. Tunjukkan simpati dan sedih bila mendengar berita
malang. Elakkan menyampuk perbualannya.

MERAMAIKAN RAKAN

Pertama kali berjumpa, berkenal-kenalan.
Berkawan biar seribu, berkasih biar satu.

masa anda pula memerlukan pertolongan.

4. Berbudi bahasa - Jangan sombong, riak atau takbur.

keras kepala kerana mereka dulu makan garam. Jangan berlagak pula dengan
Junior.
daging saudara sendiri. Amalan mengumpat selalunya berlarutan hingga

Basit

(1) Orang yang bodoh atau tidak tahu. Orang ini dia tahu dirinya bodoh maka ia
belajar dan ia akan menjadi pandai. Contohnya seperti kita semua. Kerana
kita sedar yang diri kita ini bodoh maka sebab itulah kita belajar semoga kita
menjadi pandai = Bodoh ------------ Belajar ------------- pandai

Murakab

(2) Orang yang bersusun dua Jahil (Bodoh)

i) Orang ini bodoh

tetapi memandai-mandai.

= BODOH - TAK TAHU IA BODOH - TAK MAHU BELAJAR

---------- MEMANDAI-MANDAI

mengerjakan ibadah, sebab apa?.

harta benda milik maktab. Harta benda maktab adalah umpama milik pelajar
yang perlu untuk dipelihara bersama.

How to Act and Look Smart

You only get one chance for a first impression. Coming across as sloppy and ditzy can
give people the impression that you aren't as smart as you really are. Keep reading
for tips to appear sharp and smart as well as having knowledge of the world and
what's around you.

Steps1

1. Take a few days or weeks to look at yourself and how you present yourself to
others. You know your friends like you but how are you seen by your boss, your
teachers or strangers on the street. Look at your physical appearance and also
your mental take on things.

o Take a digital photo of yourself each day in your different outfits

o Look at your behaviors and see what you do that generates negative attention
and what generates positive attention. Think about why you do certain things.
Do you do things to be controversial? To get attention? To look like your friends
or to fit into a certain group? Evaluate your results. You now know something
about yourself by the process of introspection. Do your results apply to the
general population? Probably. Now you're a philosopher!

o Understand you can still sharpen up your look and not lose your integrity or your
friends.2

2. A very good way to look smart is to learn random trivia. You have to know a little
about something, then stock up on trivia. Did you know that Martin Van Buren was
the 8th president and started his term in 1837? See? If someone is talking with you
or with you and some friends talking about something, and you know a little trivia
about it, then you should bring it up. Don't interrupt them or you'll look like a jerk.
But remember, there is a fine line between dropping little bits of trivia here and
there and being a know it all. Beware of doing this too much.

3. Realize you can still keep your personality and style. If you tend to dress frumpy or
older than you really are you'll need to let go of your comfort zone and be willing
to try something new.

4. If you're younger you will need to talk to your parents about the changes you'd
like to make. You can slowly evolve your wardrobe by adding in smarter looking
pieces. Don't expect to be able to go out and drop a lot of money on new
clothes. Looking smart cost money.

5. Look at the people you respect and think of the things that set them apart from
yourself. Is it the look? The confidence? Do they just seem more engaging

6. Stop living in your little box and start looking outside of it

18

o Read at least 20 minutes of news everyday online

o Read about different subjects or people that interest you

o Visit museums, art shows, historical sites, planetariums, etc. Soak up the world
around you. Awareness always makes you more knowledgeable and you will
have more intelligent things to talk about.

o Walk away from the video games and don't spend all night on the computer
chatting with friends. You don't have to give either up entirely but you should
scale back to make room for other things.

7. Get involved in a charity or civic duty. This will really broaden your view of the
world and bring you much more knowledge about people and society

8. Spend time talking to people older and more experienced than you. Talk about
the past, events in history they experienced and ask questions.

9. Participate in class when you're in school and don't fade into the background. Be
sure to answer as many challenging questions as you can, but avoid commenting
on obvious ones as they will garner no respect and a wrong answer will make you
look foolish. Ask questions and openly talk to the teacher about the subjects and
ideas behind them either during or after class. Your teachers will respect your
interest even if it's newly found

10. Do your homework and be prepared. This includes reading, reports and even
extra research

11. Don't feel pressured to comment on everything. Sometimes the best thing to do is
just to listen. Plus, others will value your opinions more if they are less frequent.

12. Don't try to bluff your way through topics. The people that actually know about it
will spot a phony a mile away. Instead, wait for the conversation to drift to
something you are familiar with or direct the conversation in that direction.

13. Ask questions. Seem engaged. Don't pretend you know everything. The smartest
people ask lots of questions. It's called the Socratic Method.14

14. Surround yourself with smart friends and interesting people.

15. Evaluate your clothes and start adding smart looking pieces to your wardrobe

a. Pants and jeans

b. Shop for pants that are tailored and fit you well in length, in the waist and in
overall fit. They can be stylish and trendy. So long as they fit well you appear
that you took time in putting the outfit together.

c. Shop for jeans that fit appropriately. If they are really long you should wear
heel (ladies) or have them altered. No one looks smart in hugely over-sized
jeans that drag the ground. You look like you found a pair of pants and didn't
care if they fit.
19

d. For the guys, non-baggy corduroys or khakis are good, and in the summer,
khaki shorts.

e. T-shirts are fine but avoid controversial or rude graphics.

f. Avoid grossly over-sized shirts. Start looking for shirts with social messages,
vintage rock bands and smart comments.

i. Make sure the shirts are within your interest. You don't want someone to ask
about your message and you not understand what it means. It's fine to wear
your favourite band shirts but dress them up with a blazer so you turn it into
your look and not appear as if you've emerged from a Hot Topic yard sale.
You can keep a lot of your current wardrobe, just polish up the other
elements.

g. Don't wear t-shirts all the time and if you do you should top it with a blazer,
and accessorize with a belt and appropriate shoes.18

16. Wear dress shirts sometimes to mix it up. Buy shirts that are cut to fit your body
type. Look for lengths that are appropriate, not too short and not too long. Plan
ahead and don't go reaching into the back of your closet for your old styles
when the seasons change.

a. Girls and ladies should look for pieces that appear tailored and flatter their
good features. Don't hide under bulky sweaters and sweatshirts but look for
tailored looking pieces. Get a combination of short and long sleeve. If the fit
is good you can mix it up with fun colors and trendy prints.

b. Guys should wear appropriately sized shirts. Add variety by choosing fun
colors. If the fit is good you can really mix it up with fun colors and trendy
prints.

18. Men and women should avoid wearing athletic attire and shoes unless you are
actually doing something athletic. This doesn't mean wear it because you'll be
doing it later in the day, this means unless you are actually at the gym, running
laps or in PE you need to keep your athletic wear in a bag. This includes your
favorite player jersey.

19. Wear shoes that are undamaged (free of deep scuffs and wear), that fit well
and that can be polished (unless suede). You can get some well-made shoes
with fun colors that enhance your look and make you look polished while still
keeping your personality21

20. Men should invest in a few pairs of shoes both in black and brown. Again, look
for shoes that can be polished and aren't worn out.

21. Pay close attention to personal hygiene

a. Shower and shave regularly. At least once daily or more if you participate in
sports.

20

b. Wear a nice fragrance or body spray

c. Guys should get hair-cuts every month or so. If you sport a longer style you
should at least get the hair trimmed from the back of your neck. You can still
be long and funky but you need to keep it shaped and clean looking.

d. Hairy necks look sloppy and dirty

e. Ladies should avoid coloring their hair unless they have the time and money
to maintain the look and the roots.

f. Black may be cool now but it may look unnaturally dark. Go for colors that
compliment your skin tone.

23. Get a skin care regime and stick to it daily.

a. Wash and exfoliate with the appropriate skin care products for your skin type

b. See a dermatologist if you have acne or skin problems24

25. Seeing is a good thing. Get glasses if you need them.

• Get your eyes checked if you haven't in a while, can't see from the back of
class or get headaches when you read or spend too much time on the
computer.

• If you need glasses you should shop for a neutral colored plastic (brown,
tortoise shell or black) frame or a metal frame.

• If you wear more silver jewelry you should get a silver frame.

• If you don't need them you can get non-prescriptions ones but you do run
the risk of being teased if you're caught. Glasses are a commitment. Instead
of getting contacts and fake glasses just don't get the contacts. Go with
glasses for the most studious look.

26. Be genuine. You'll appear smarter if you talk about things you know something
about. Sure, you can carry around quantum physics books but when a person
familiar with the topic starts engaging in conversation you'll look like a phony
and stupid.

27. Expand your knowledge of your interest. If you like music you can read books
about your favorite bands, the music industry, older bands that inspired the
bands of today, digital production, instruments, etc. The same goes for art,
history, fashion, psychology, religion, etc. Carry those books around and you will
look smart and be infinitely more interesting than someone who fakes it.

Tips

• Don't pretend to know more about something than you do. If people find out
then you will look absolutely ridiculous.

21

• Listen and ask questions. You're more engaging when you ask questions than by
nodding and pretending you understand everything.

• Keep up with school and work duties. You can only look so smart when you're
being a slacker.

• Ask to take harder classes and don't just take easy classes to be lazy.
• Ask your boss to send you to training or provide training for advancement or

management
• Smart people know when to ask for help. If you don't understand a subject you

should get extra help or tutoring.
• Don't brag about being smart. It's the people that don't have to talk about it that

come across as the smartest.
• Sit next to smart people in classes (chemistry, biology, etc.) where you get to

team up. It keeps you on your toes and you'll be less tempted to goof off.
• Ditch friends that are a bad influence and don't make you a better person. You

can be guilty by association.
• Compete in contest as school which require essays, artwork or testing. Even if

you don't win it will be great experience.17

PERSONAL GROOMING TIPS

Personal grooming is a form of personal hygiene. Personal grooming is very important
for a positive self-image. The very first look of an individual gives an idea how well
maintained and well-dignified that person is and what kind of personality he possess.

Few of the personal grooming ideas that can be followed are:

• Wear right clothes for the right occasion. Wearing appropriate clothes goes in handy
with good personal grooming.

• Apply deodorant or body spray every morning and keep a container with yourself
in case you need it.

• Don’t drench yourself with perfume or aftershaves. A subtle fragrance is more
pleasing to the senses than the overwhelming ones.

• Shampoo your hair often and keep it healthy and shiny.

• Cut and trim your hair regularly. Your hair cut and style should complement directly
to your facial features and shapes. The cut should also be according to the
profession you are pursuing. For example, the hair cut that is suitable for a profession
may not go with the financial sector.

• Keep your finger nails neat and clean. Avoid painting them with dark or bright
colors unless it is a special occasion.

• Clean and moisturize your skin daily, on a regular basis, especially if it is a dry and
flaky skin.

PERSONEL HYGIENE TIPS

By: Rachel Mork

These personal hygiene tips will keep you neat, clean and happy. Proper personel
hygiene is essential for social interactions and respect in the professional arena, so
make sure you cover these personel hygiene basics every day for optimal results.

Shower Daily

Whether you feel grungy or not, a daily shower is a must. Shower every morning and
after all athletic activities. You may not be able to smell your body odor, but others
will.

Limit Fragrances

If you use scented soap or shampoos, go easy on competing fragrances. Coordinate
your fragrance choices in such a way that you only apply one scent or two
complementary scents at a time. Be aware of the fact that many people are sensitive
to fragrance; a strong fragrance may offend, not attract some people. Think through
your life circumstances. Will you be in any confined spaces such as cabs, elevators or
shared cars with other people? If so, lighten up on the fragrance.

Wear Clean Clothes

Make sure you wash all clothes after a couple times of wearing them, after one
wearing if you got sweaty at all that day. Hang clothing immediately after removing
from the dryer; iron any clothing that needs attention. Use a tape roll to remove pet
hair or lint.

Brush Your Teeth Three Times a Day

Brush your teeth three times a day for dental health for fresh breath. Be sure to floss
daily and to brush your tongue, which can harbour bad-breath-producing bacteria.
Carry mints for in between situations. If you have recently drank coffee or eaten
anything potentially offensive-think onion, garlic, blue cheese or strongly spiced foods-
be sure to brush or use mints before talking to people.

Keep Nails Trimmed and Clean

Wash hands thoroughly, removing dirt from underneath nails daily. Keep nails neatly
trimmed and free from all debris.

Pluck Stray Hairs

25

Both men and women need to be on the lookout for stray hairs in places hairs don’t
belong: the nose, ears, brow, chin and upper lip area. As men get older they need to
pluck or clip wiry nose, ear and eyebrow hairs; women need to wax upper lips and
pluck stray hairs if hair becomes long and unsightly. Not sure if you need to pluck or
not? Err on the side of caution and pluck.

Cover Up Acne

If you have acne, you’ll want to use a cleanser specific for acne prevention and cover
breakouts with a cover up designed to heal and prevent more ache.

Prevent Foot Odor

Dust shoes with baby powder, change socks often-especially after athletic activities-
and allow shoes to air out in between wearing.

Blot Oily Skin

Buy a pack of oil-blotting sheets and use them to soak up excess oil during the day.

TEMA : KEBERSIHAN

Here’s what you need to do immediately:

1. Prioritize.

Take a step back and reaaaaally look at your room. What is the biggest offender?
Shoe piles? No visible floor space? Crusty old dishes? Crusty old dishes and half-empty
glasses of curdled milk under the bed that are creating a sour odor? Crusty
UNDERWEAR? Try to see your room for the first time, treating a shared room as if it were
completely yours. What’s most immediately shocking? What’s the first thing that might
snag someone’s gaze? (Hint: it’s the underwear.) Time spent: 10 seconds.

2. Get rid of the major offender(s).

Refer to the Priority Messes identified in step one and TAKE CARE OF THEM. If it’s clothes
and shoes all over the floor, run and get the laundry basket, pile everything into it
(shoes at the bottom), and set it against a wall. Oh, ha ha, you were just about to do
a load of laundry! Alternately, you can grab a garbage bag, stuff everything into that,
and throw it in your closet. It’s just a bag of stuff you’re donating and, no, they cannot
look through it. Time spent: two minutes.

If it’s books and papers, fly around your room, picking up every single book and sheet
of paper, regardless of what they are, and put them all in two tidy piles on your desk
or on the floor by your bed, with the smartest/trendiest books and magazines on
display. The Hunger Games and On the Road can go on top of the latest issue of
Highlights (still a really good magazine). Look how much you read! You’re so cultured!
Time spent: one minute.

3. Hide anything super-personal.

We all have crap we don’t want other people to see, especially the first time they
come over. Scan the room for potentially embarrassing items, such as dental
headgear, wart-removing cream, the Justin Bieber singing toothbrush (gag gift,
right?!), prescription bottles, the notebook in which you’ve practiced writing your
crush’s name linked with yours, Vagisil, Monostat, foot fungus spray, the neti pot,
Preparation H, used Q-tips, and anything aiding digestion. None of these things are
shameful, OBVS, but they’re not exactly things you need your new friends to be
intimately acquainted with. Time spent: 30 seconds.

4. Open all the windows.

Seriously, even if it’s freezing. Air the cave out! Now spray one (ONLY ONE) squirt of
your perfume right in front of your door, close to the ceiling, and fan it around with
your hands. Perfect! Now anyone walking in will have a first impression of a good-
smelling room. And your crush will get a waft of your scent, which is always good. Time
spent: 30 seconds.

5. Quickly make the bed.

28

The bed is the biggest thing in your room; making it will give the impression that the
room is a lot more tidy. Don’t spend too long on this, just pull the sheets up and drag
the coverlet over the top. Tip: if you want it to look like you definitely did not just make
the bed, lie down and then get up again to leave an I’ve-been-sitting-on-this-bed
body imprint. Place the one item you were obviously just engaged with (e.g., laptop,
book of poetry, collage) on your now-neatened bed next to your pillows. You were
totally just lying here a minute ago, doing something awesome! You are always doing
cool shit. Time spent: one minute.

6. Get rid of anything perishable that has already perished.

Grab all crusty dishes/water glasses/Tupperware from old lunches and run them to the
kitchen sink. Then take the overflowing trash out. Remember: there’s a HUGE
difference between “messy” and “gross.” Clutter = messy. Anything that mice and
roaches might like to make a nest in = gross. Time spent: three minutes.

7. Put a clean gym sock on each of your hands.

Get one wet. Now you have a scrubber and a duster. Use the wet one on anything
sticky, like rings from juice glasses. Run the dry one over all surfaces at eye level and
anything truly, horribly dusty. Time spent: two minutes.

Great! Your room is now passably neat (ish)! If Cool Person hasn’t shown up yet, it’s
time to make your room look like someone mysterious and fascinating lives in it (which
is true!). Got a lamp? Got more than one lamp? Throw a red or pink sheer scarf over
the tops of them, like they do in Almost Famous. A sheer T-shirt or tank top will work as
well. When you flip the lamps on, the room will be bathed in a rosy, cozy glow. (Don’t
forget to take the scarves off after your visitor leaves—this is a potential fire hazard!)

Attack the top of your dresser, grouping and clustering items together until it looks like
you planned for them to be with one another: makeup/scented items lined up in a
row, photos in a cluster, and all figurines/toy models grouped together like a mini-
shrine to teenagehood.

Finally, add carefully edited “mess” back into the room for realism. For example, hang
a pendant necklace off the edge of your dresser, held in place by a trophy or figurine.
“Accidentally” drape your favorite concert T-shirt on the closet doorknob. Do a last
lightning check. Did you: (1) put all garbage bags full of clothes or trash out of
eyesight? (2) Hide your journal? (3) Erase any blinking computer chats that say
something like “OMG!!! I JUST LOVE HIM / HER SO MUCH I CAN’T BELIEVE HE / SHE’S
COMING OVER”?

Excellent. Your room looks like it belongs to a casually neat person, a person who
never has to worry about someone coming over unexpectedly, because everything
is always this way! Now put on your favorite album, starting it smack in the middle,
because you’ve been listening to it this whole time, alone in your awesome room. ♦

How To Make A Bed Like A Hotel

By: Dav Davis

Break Studios Contributing Writer

Every time you go on vacation, you probably swear you’re going to learn how to
make a bed like a hotel does. Hotel beds are notoriously indulgent – luxurious and
beautiful and designed to help you sleep like a baby. It’s actually easy to make a bed
like a hotel does, and it only takes a few of minutes. Not only will your “hotel bed” be
more comfortable, but it will also be more inviting – and that’s something both you
and your next overnight guest will appreciate!

To make a bed like a hotel, you’ll need:

• A set of sheets, (one flat sheet, one fitted sheet, and two pillowcases)

• Two pillows

• A blanket, if desired

• A duvet

• Decorative pillows, if desired

1. Make the mattress itself as comfortable as possible. If you haven’t done it in a
while, flip your mattress over. If it smells stale, spray it with an odor neutralizing spray
or sprinkle it with baking soda and vacuum it. If your bed is hard, add a piece of
memory foam or a filled mattress pad.

2. Prepare your bedding. If your sheets are old or stained, buy new ones. While some
people swear by high thread counts, focus on cotton quality instead. Choose
100% combed cotton sheets with a thread count between 200 and 400. Before
you make your bed like a hotel, wash your sheets and, if necessary, your duvet
cover, mattress pad and even the duvet itself.

3. Put the sheets on the bed. Start with the fitted bottom sheet, pulling it tightly across
all four corners. Then, stand at the foot of your bed and shake the flat top sheet
out over the bed, adjusting it so that it drapes evenly and has equal overhang on
each side. At the top of the bed, smooth the hem into a straight line right along
the edge of the mattress. Then move to the bottom of the bed and gently pull it
downward until the sheet lies smooth, with any excess hanging off the bottom of
the bed. A smooth finish will make a bed like a hotel.

4. If you use blankets, put them on your bed using the same process. Stand at the
bottom of your bed and billow out any blankets you use (not including the duvet)
until it covers your sheets. Move to the top of the bed adjust the hem, arranging
it six to eight inches short of the headboard. Fold the top sheet over the blanket.
Smooth the blanket out by pulling it down at the bottom, allowing any excess to
dangle.

30

5. Perfect the art of hospital corners. Stand on one side and grab the sheet and
blanket, pulling the edge up about twelve inches from the end of the bed. Lift the
edge to make a diagonal fold. Lay the fold onto the mattress and pull it smooth.
Tuck the hanging portion of the sheet and blanket under the mattress with your
other hand. Drop the fold and pull it smooth then tuck it under the mattress.
Repeat this process on the other side of the bed.

6. Fluff up your pillows. Inch your pillow into the cases little by little. If the pillowcase
is longer than your pillow, tuck the top edge around the end of the pillow, slipping
it inside the bottom edge. Fold the bottom edge in, creating a smooth pocket.

7. Fluff up your duvet and toss it over the blanket and sheets. Make sure it’s even on
all sides, and align the top of it with the fold of your sheet.

8. Add your pillows. Center the pillows you sleep with along the top of the duvet. To
really make your bed like a hotel, add a decorative pillow or blanket, and voila!
Get ready for a night of luxury!

DIARY OF AN UNBORN BABY **

OCTOBER 5-- Today my life began. My parents do not know it yet, I am as small as a
seed of an apple, but it is I already. And I am to be a girl. I shall have blond hair and
blue eyes. Just about everything is settled though, even the fact that I shall love
flowers.

OCTOBER 19-- Some say that I am not a real person yet, that only my mother exists But
I am a real person, just as a small crumb of bread is yet truly bread. My mother is.
And I am.

OCTOBER 23-- My mouth is just beginning to open now. Just think, in a year or so I shall
be laughing and later talking. I know what my first word will be: MAMA.

OCTOBER 25-- My heart began to beat today all by itself. From now on it shall gently
beat for the rest of my life without ever stopping to rest! And after many years it will
tire. It will stop, and then I shall die.

NOVEMBER 2-- I am growing a bit every day. My arms and legs are beginning to take
shape. But I have to wait a long time yet before those little legs will raise me to my
mother's arms, before these little arms will be able to gather flowers and embrace my
father.

NOVEMBER 12-- Tiny fingers are beginning to form on my hands. Funny how small They
are! I'll be able to stroke my mother's hair with them.

NOVEMBER 20-- It wasn't until today that the doctor told mommy that I am living here
under her heart. Oh, how happy she must be! Are you happy, Mama?

NOVEMBER 25-- My mommy and daddy are probably thinking about a name for me.
But they don't even know that I am a little girl. I want to be called Kathy. I am getting
so big already.

DECEMBER 10-- My hair is growing. It is smooth and bright and shiny. I wonder what
kind of hair mommy has.

DECEMBER 13-- I am just about able to see. It is dark around me. When mommy brings
me into the world it will be full of sunshine and flowers. But what I want more than
anything is to see my mommy's face. What do you look like, mommy?

41

DECEMBER 24-- I wonder if mommy hears the whispering of my heart? Some children
come into the world a little sick. But my heart is strong and healthy. It beats so evenly:
tup-tup, tup-tup. You'll have a healthy little daughter, mom!

What is happening? I hear noise. I feel something sharp and it hurts! Oh how it hurts
me! NO, Mommy NO! Oh Mommy! Please, Mommy! I'll be good for you! Please love
me, Mommy! Things are black and the pain is gone now.

DECEMBER 28--Today my Mother killed me!
