6.2 Consultation and Training Committee The Consultation and Training Committee had organized 8 programs from January to December 2023. Here are the lists of the programs. No Program Date 1 WORKSHOP ON DATA EXPLORATION WITH PYTHON This workshop took place from 8.30 am to 1 pm virtually via "Google Meet". This workshop was delivered by Prof. Assoc. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Kadri bin Junoh from the Institute of Engineering Mathematics. The implementation of this workshop aims to introduce Python software to help postgraduate students and also lecturers involved in research and teaching. By using this free software, researchers and lecturers can solve research problems more easily and effectively. By the end of the workshop, participants can master 'Python' to solve problems in the fields of mathematics, management and even engineering. 1 st March 2023 2 SMART CODING & ROBOT FOR KIDS This "Smart Coding & Robot for Kids" workshop is a robotics workshop conducted to give exposure to school students related to the basics of programming and learning robotics. With this, it can help participants better understand the basics of robotics programming. The workshop were divided into two sessions. Each session lasts one hour and 30 minutes and is limited to 25 participants per session. Each student will be loaned a set of robots to use during the running workshop which will be provided by Tech Up Sdn. Bhd. A total of 50 participants aged 8-13 from various schools have successfully participated in this workshop. 8 th March 2023 63 IMK ANNUAL REPORT 2023

7.0 COMMUNITY SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND UNIVERSITY SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ACTIVITIES 7.1 International STEM & Innovation virtual Colloquia Series (ISICS) 2023 The global concern regarding the diminishing interest and motivation among students in the Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics (STEM) field has impacted not only Malaysia but is pervasive globally. This issue has notably affected both school and university levels, evident in the declining enrollment of students pursuing STEM studies. This deviation from projected numbers is poised to adversely impact the country's future human capital. In response, it is imperative for universities to proactively engage in addressing this challenge by collaborating with schools and education departments to bolster interest and motivation among students for STEM studies. The UniMAP International STEM & Innovation Virtual Colloquia Series (ISICS) emerges as a pivotal initiative, offering a platform for renowned scientists and technologists to share their knowledge and experiences in STEM. By showcasing real-life applications and scientific discoveries, ISICS aims to instill an appreciation for the beauty of STEM among students. Executed virtually through online platforms, each colloquia series features distinguished speakers, contributing to the achievement of several objectives: (i) Elevating students' interest and motivation in STEM, aligning with UniMAP's commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). (ii) Facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise from global STEM experts to students at both school and university levels. (iii) Advocating for the advancement of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines in Malaysia, with UniMAP taking a prominent role. Under the leadership of Dr. Mohamad Nazri Abdul Halif, serving as the chairman of ISICS, the program involves key staff members such as Dr. Khairul Anwar Mohamad Khazali, Dr. Hafizudin Mohamad Nor, and Ts. Muhamad Hafiz Masran from the IMK staff. Additionally, various committees from different faculties and centers contribute to the success of ISICS. Highlighting the achievements of ISICS from January to December 2023, the program conducted five series of talks featuring prominent scientists, including Nobel Prize winner Prof. Martin Chalfie, ACM Turing Award Winner Prof. Dr. David Patterson, NASA engineers Alicia Dywer Cianciolo, biomedical engineering expert Prof. Rory Copper from the University of Pittsburgh, USA, and CEO of Medika Natura, Mr Abdul Razak Mohd Isa.
