The 2020 student leaders were selected during Term 2. Throughout the year we have done jobs
such as setting up mufti days, talked to the parents of the school, and we are currently working on
the ideas for the end of year social graduation and gift to the school. The gift will be presented at
the end of the year. It will be an A1 wordle of the SHS logo. This will be presented in a frame. All
this is funded simply from the students of Year 8.
We student leaders are often called up for small jobs too. It includes morning tea duty (filling in for
the teachers), helping little kids, and many more. Th¡e opportunity of being a Student Leader has
most definitely helped us with our public speaking skills, and the skill of teamwork (when working in
committees and organising meetings for different events).

Learning During Lockdown
- By Clara, Liam W, Lucas B
During lockdown, we had to do ‘distance learning’ where we completed all of our work
at home (you could also call it homeschool). It was very different from our regular
learning because the only contact that we had with our teachers or classmates was
via google meets or emails. This meant that we had to be a lot more independent in our learning
because we couldn’t always ask our teachers for help.
Learning from home was easier but also harder from working at school. They each
have lots of positives, but they also have some difficulties. At school, you can be
distracted by your classmates but at home, you could be distracted by your family or
belongings/things. You also can’t ask your peers or teacher for help without it turning
into a drama and a total nightmare. At home, you could choose your working hours
(when you did school work), but at school you have to do writing now, reading then, maths later, PL
after that, then art and inquiry. However, this meant that you could fall behind because
you have no-one telling you to do your work so it doesn’t get done (conveniently,
this is the one time you can get away with not doing the work and some people may
have taken advantage of that). Some people also got their restricted or full license
during lockdown. Lockdown gave students a chance to learn more things like how
to bake cupcakes or brownies. During lockdown, students got to interact and spend
more time with their family (if they weren’t essential workers).
Learning during lockdown wasn’t all bad. There were some good things like that you could choose
when you did your maths, writing, inquiry, etc. But there were some bad things, like that you could
get distracted by your belongings or family/siblings. It was an interesting experience for many people
across New Zealand and the world.
Google Meets
- Will M, Gabi, Antonio
Furry Friday, Freaky Friday, Fun Friday, all amazing, and thoroughly entertaining
google meetings that distract us from our boring lockdown life. Catching up with
classmates wearing ridiculous costumes, lets us have a laugh or two. Even though
the sound kept glitching, and our screen continuously freezing, these themed meets
were a pleasure to attend. Sharing our work, and the occasional game, it was a
challenge that we had to learn to overcome.
Even though some of us, including me, had to have a license interview online, it did
not take away from the experience, and if anything, made it even more meaningful. Quite a few students
also had meaningful “happy birthday” sung to them online. It was quite funny to listen to, as the sound
was delayed, but that made it even more special.
These fun and creative virtual meetings were a perfect way to make us feel as if we were back in the
classroom. We could communicate almost as perfectly as we could before we were put through lockdown.
We were very lucky that the technology is capable of bringing us together no matter where we are. I
personally wouldn’t be able to stand not only being physically separated from my friends and non immediate
family members, but also virtually.
At times the meetings could get laggy, and it would be hard to understand what one another is saying.
But it was our only alternative, and I think we were all willing to take it. Google meets were also commonly
used throughout the year for non school related catch ups. They were perfect for random catch ups to
talk rubbish with mates, just like the days before lockdown.
Google meets was certainly a highlight of lockdown, as we can all agree they were delightful. It was a
new experience for everyone, but we all handled it maturely, even if maturely meant wearing an absurd
outfit. As we saw our teachers in feather boas and ridiculous hats, we were reminded that we are not
facing this challenge alone.

EVENTS DURING 2020
OUR YEAR 8 STUDENTS
Ballroom Dancing Competition
- By Alex, Kyra-Lee, and Crystal
This year, ballroom dancing was a little different. Last year, and all
the years before, nothing went seriously wrong with the dancing
competition, but this year it got delayed massively. This delay was
because of the nasty virus known as COVID-19, which caused
a lot of happy dancers to fall into a state of dissatisfaction that
the whole competition was delayed till Term 4! This also meant
that the inter-schools dancing was canceled, so all was looking
downhill. But then, an angel descended… Jonny Williams - who
offered more lessons until the competition in Term 4, Week 5.
So not all was looking downhill.
The students trained hard for hours on end to be able to take 1st
place, unfortunately, this was written 1 minute before the day of
the competition (I didn’t actually write it that late, don’t worry)
so we don’t know the victors as of now. The offer of coming 1st
could not be refused, so the students danced harder than ever
before! The holds? Amazing! The poster? Amazing! The smiles?
Spot on! Now all that was left was to use our little smidgens of
practice wisely and hope and pray that we wouldn’t come last.
We are all very thankful that the wonderful Year 8 teachers set
all of this up for us and we could not be happier. If any Year 6
and below students are reading this… Good luck.

Year 8 Camp - By Ella, Issy, Amelia
The Hunua Ranges is the home of a very
special camp - Camp Adair. In March this
year, 14 cabins stood in front of the Year
8’s, as they awaited an awesome time.
The teams enjoyed the smaller activities
that prepared them for the bigger ones
later in the week. Unfortunately a very
critical fire ban was in place, meaning
there was no campfire. But we had a blast
with some very funny trivia questions to
score some marshmallows.
On the first and second days we did the
smaller activities, which included air rifles, bushcraft, and raft building. But in no way did these prepare
us for the high rise activities - The Pamper Pole, Super fox, High swing, Abseiling and the Pirates walk.
Everyone gave everything a go, and we all stepped out of our comfort zone for all of the activities. Our
teams were mixed with girls and boys - we did everything together. However without the help from the
parents, we wouldn’t have been able to experience anything.
In the smaller activities, we were able to: see nature up on the hills and across the bridge, some
groups were lucky to see some big insects like stick insects, each group got a turn with the air rifles -
shooting real lead at the tins and rubber ducks that were being aimed at. For raft building, you needed
knowledge. To get new materials, you had to answer questions/riddles. In the end we had made rafts
from rope, bamboo, and inflatable rings. Now all that was needed was the ability to float, while holding
up over 3 people.
With all the high ropes looming above us, our hearts beat rapidly. But it seemed, once you’d done it,
you had no idea why you were scared. All you wanted to do was go on it over and over again. Everyone
was pushed to their limits and tried their hardest - even if they didn’t want to.
Each activity group had to work together to come up with their own, original skit. We had time
to practice at school and at camp, to make sure they were perfect. On our last night, the groups
performed them to the whole of Year 8, including the teachers and parents. There were heaps of
different ideas, and they were all very entertaining. There were things from fairytales to tv shows -
talent shows to the Olympics.
With all of these fun things, we all had a price to
pay - cleaning the toilets and doing the dishes for
breakfast, dinner, and lunch. Some groups had the
opportunity to think of a different set up for dinner.
One night, no one was allowed to talk - A Silent
Dinner. We all sat at separate tables with our star
signs, writing down on a sheet of paper as if we were
talking.
One afternoon we had an amazing time on the
08 St Heliers School Yearbook 2020
mudslide and, when it went slightly darker, we
were able to experience the glow worms as we
walked through the bushes. Around an hour later
we followed rope and gripped tightly as we weaved
through the Burma Trail. Working as a team, we
passed on the information saying if there was a tree
or tree roots coming up.
Camp was amazing - something we are all very
grateful for, as we were able to experience the fun.
All of the activities pushed us to our limits and, when
we didn’t want to do it, everyone still tried.

Sports
Year 8 Sports Leader
- By Sylvie, Ellie and Preston
This year, a lot more students in Y8 had the
privilege to be a Sports Leader and help around
the school. Sadly, due to Covid-19, we were out
in the cold a little bit in this role, but we all still
enjoyed every minute of the job. We’ve had the
opportunity to help with little kid’s sports, both
SHS swimming sports events and hopefully, Term
4 athletics. Before lockdown in Term 1, a few of us
got to help out with the Year 5&6 swimming sports by doing the scoring, helping with the ropes, setting
the chairs up and packing them up.
We have shown responsibility in our Sport Leader roles, doing the job to the best of our ability, while
also having a lot of fun. The SHS school values have underpinned what we do to help around the school,
taking care of all the sports equipment. We have tried our best all year and loved being able to help SHS
in this role.
Swimming Sports
- By Chloe Powell
Swimming sports was hands down the best competition we have had to start the
year. People on the side lines were shouting their house names supporting their
teams. Some teams had ‘cheerleaders’ dancing on the side and cheering for their
team. Everyone was dressed up in a colour to represent their house. Not only was this
year’s swimming sports a great campaign for Year 7 and 8
students, but it was also an enjoyable and a great way of
experiencing a fun and different way of Physical Education.
The team houses (Whero, Kakariki, Kikorangi and Kowhai)
showed extreme sportsmanship as well as being very supportive of their own
house team. As Mr Nevalangi quotes, “This year was one of the best swimming
sports because it looked just like a high school event.” This event challenged
people a lot but everyone pushed through the pain and gave it their all.
2020 Swimming Sports was amazing. Everyone had a blast. There were some swimmers who really stood
out in the two or three lengths, for example, Chloe Powell, Ellie Schwartfeger, Parker Percy-Brown, and
Clay Sapir. There were also people who stood out in the one lengths like, Cara Prest, Lucas Rose, Abbey
Kane, Jordan Roberts, and Emilia Reghenzani. As well as individual races, there was also a fantastic house
relay at the end. Everyone who was in their house relay team pushed super hard and
gave it their all and in the end, the Year 8 Kikorangi won the relay.

Y8 Eastern Zone Netball
- By Abbey Kane and Isabella Hinds
Screams and cheers came from the sides of the netball court as we took our positions. The wind was as
sharp as shards of glass up against our bodies. Loud buzzes of whistles screeched from miles ahead. The
wind picked up its pace and blew soaking drink bottles onto the chalky green courts.
At the end of an amazing day of competition, the Year 8 boys came out in 2nd, the Year 8 girls B team
came 5th and our Year 8 girls A team played well, but the placing didn’t reflect the quality of the games.
We put our heart and soul into every game we played, working
tirelessly until we couldn’t play anymore.
We learned from our mistakes, got back in the game and tried again.
Our teams encouraged others to give it a go, and showed exceptional
sportsmanship to, not only the teams, but to the empires, parents
and the public themselves.
The highlights of the day were that everyone was in high spirits, and
we burnt out all of our energy. The opposite teams were extremely
rough (and also tall), but of course, we kept going and pushed on.
When we found out that our Year 8 boys came 2nd, we knew our glory was still there. Celebrations carried
on and we all had a great day. The other teams were fair, nice, and thankfully none of them argued with
the opponent’s team. Everybody had a positive attitude, even when we were falling behind. It was an
honor to play with our friends on the court.
St Heliers Cross Country
- By Clay Gordon and Zach O'Dwyer
School cross country was an awesome day with everyone
giving their 100%. The conditions were excellent, with
warm and sunny weather throughout the whole day.
Thankfully this made the ground a lot more dry, and for
the first time in SHS history nobody lost a shoe! All the
parents and teachers were on the sideline giving the
students lots of support, as everyone tried their hardest
to do better than last time. A special mention goes to the
handful of parents who acted as marshals and helped
open the gates and show the directions. Also, a good
job to the top three places for the girls and boys - Issy
1st, Olivia 2nd, Imogen 3rd and Zach 1st, Tom N 2nd and
Clay G 3rd. It was an overall great performance for the
last cross country race at St Heliers!

Boys Music Group
- By Ollie Henton and Aleksandr Kostygin
Some of us have been with the Boy’s Music group since year five, and it has been a great adventure.
We have sung many different kinds of songs, some that we would even listen to in our own time. I know
that all of us year 8 boys are very heartbroken that this is our last year in BMG but all good things must
end, the drip must finally stop. But I know all of us will continue to sing in the future. Even though we
get together once a week for half an hour, it has always been fun to sing along with the other BMG
members. It has had a huge part of our lives at St Heliers.
Senior Choir
- By Ruth Gerson and Amelie Hartinger
Since I have been in choir, (since year three)
I have had an awesome experience meeting
up every Friday and I have really enjoyed
performing at assemblies and events every
year, except for this year. Sadly due to COVID
-19, we haven't performed but we have
had fun learning different types of songs,
warm-ups and have had as many practices
as possible. Mrs. Herbert is the teacher
and the organizer of Choir and always has
great warm-ups and songs for us to sing and we always sing a variety of different songs throughout the year. The
highlights for the Senior Choir have been singing at the fair last year, at Excellence assemblies and at the Christmas
market while being dressed up in Santa hats and accessories. One of our favorite games is a game that we always
play at the end of the term, where the whole of the senior choir splits into small groups, then Mrs. Herbert chooses
a topic and every group chooses a song to sing that relates to the topic.

It was a strange year for Tech Support in 2020: may experience! Tech Support wasn’t just a job for us to do, but it was
going from hosting normal assemblies with also a learning experience for many of the members. We’ve been lucky
parents, to recording “virtual” assemblies to have the opportunities to learn about networking infrastructure,
with no parents! Luckily we always had firewalls, servers, the chrome browser, and bandwidth. This year has
enough members to complete the job - we been a great year for Tech Support, and allowed us many different

2020 Librarians
Being a library monitor for 2020 is very important and it is a great experience. All
monitors have enjoyed doing their job, whether it was in Term 1 and 2 or Term 3 and 4
of this year. It is definitely very cool to be able to have the opportunity to run, and look
after, the library on our different library days. When being a library monitor, there are
routines and different sorts of things we can do. There are many highlights of this role
such as: being able to help younger kids with their books, being able to read, and of
course we get to help other people out while doing the role (which is very important).
From everyone's perspective, we think that we enjoy it because we like helping. The library is a very important part
of the school. It’s very educational and it helps us. Seeing loads of kids coming into the library with a smile on their
faces is so good, because it can make our day and seems like they love the school. After the library closes, it's great
because we help the school library get cleansed by tiding the shelves, and picking up books and putting them in the
right places. Being a school librarian is a fun experience and we all very much love seeing happy readers.
Selwyn College Tech
- By Jordan Roberts and Theo Koningham
Over the past terms, we have had the pleasure of going to Selwyn College on Thursday’s
for Tech. We have had the subjects of coding, cooking, and woodwork. One of the three
subjects that we learnt at Selwyn College was learning how to plan and cook meals. We were
learning how to use different equipment in our cooking and what they all do. Our focus for
the term was to create simple, healthy lunch options, which ranged from potato wedges,
sushi, muesli bars, and for our final lesson we had to make something using tomatoes,
eggs, carrot, bread, milk, cheese, and ham. This challenge was to teach us to improvise
our cooking skills with random ingredients, and everyone learnt how to improvise with the
ingredients that they had. One of the other skills that we learnt this year was woodworking.
We had to plan out what we were going to make, how it was going to benefit us, and all
the measurements for our creation. Once we had done all that, we got a piece of plywood
each, to cut, glue and sand until it met the criteria. At Selwyn College we also have had
the experience of coding. We created small games that were made on scratch. This was a
little hard because we had to use our technical side of our brains. There were many types
of games that we could establish, like an escape, puzzle, or any type of game. Our focus
was to create a simple or advanced (if you were up for the challenge) game that were to
show our skills that we learnt in coding.
We all learnt different and unique skills, which helped us learn how to plan, create, prioritize
and analyse. Overall, Tech taught us a bunch of different skills that we will hopefully use
in our future.

EPRO8
- By Ben McNally and Emilia Reghenzani
This year, eleven Year 8 students had the opportunity to participate in the 2020
Epro-8 engineering challenge. Due to Covid-19, the usual plans for the contest
had to be scrapped according to social distancing guidelines. The format of
the competition this year caused the teams to have to make their creations in
school instead of in a communal hall. This was achieved with the availability
of Epro-8 kits which each school could buy, and then create their mechanical
marvel with. As usual there was a criteria each team had to follow, although
this time around there was considerably more focus put on creativity; we
had to build a mechanical animal that displayed a key robotic feature of the
real thing. Our school put forward three teams of year 8 students to enter the
competition. One of the Year 8 teams ‘The Razzle Dazzle Constructors’ made
up of Emilia Reghenzani, Caitlin
Pendleton and Sylvie McLean
came 6th in the Eastern Suburbs
category, creating a peacock with
its tail fanning. Altogether, the teams
had an incredible time doing the
competition, even if it was quite
different from normal.
Two Y8 teams then went on to
compete in the semi finals in
late November where they had to
complete a challenge, but this time
it was like the normal competitions
that we have competed in previously.
Mathex
- By Will Dickson
Every year SHS participates in an Auckland-wide maths competition called
Mathex. After an extensive trialing stage, eight students from Year 8 were
chosen to represent the school, in two different teams: the A-team was Ben
McNally, Sam Paterson, Will Dickson, Josh Scholtz, and the B-team was
James Chadwick, Liam Wells, Nico Eady, and Lucas Banks. This year’s Mathex
competition did not go as planned, due to the second lockdown in Auckland.
Unfortunately it was cancelled only a week out from the competition. Luckily
we finally got the go ahead and the competition was held on Thursday 29
October. A brilliant night was had by everyone. Beyond teaching students
core maths problem-solving skills, Mathex has taught it's participants just as
importantly, how to work as a team.

Arrival
Here we started. We knew the road would be long, and the trials would be many, but we also knew that we
weren’t travelling this path alone. There were many stop and re-route signs coming ahead of us, but so far the
traffic light was green, green for go! The first week we were all on our learners, we still needed assistance and
guidance, so luckily we had the best teacher, Mrs Herbert, ready to help us. Most of the days were intense
listening to the rules of the ‘road’ and learning what privileges we would be allowed once we moved on up
onto our Restricted and Full. We were all ready for the journey ahead, revving up the motor in our cars.
Camp:
As we drove along our journey, we came across a river, full of bumps and turns. We all had to adjust into boats
as camp came along. Separated from our friends, we weren’t particularly close with our crew, nevertheless, if
anyone could adjust it would be Year 8. Settling into our cabins, there was a strict time schedule. Through
many tough challenges, the crew formed a close bond and the ship could sail smoothly. All in all we had an
amazing time in our cabins, facing challenges and taking a leap, literally, out of our comfort zone.
Lockdown:
Lockdown came, as suddenly as Covid-19 came and our world was flipped upside down. The boats we were
travelling in were no longer sturdy enough to support us anymore, so once again we had to adapt, but this
time into rocket ships. Our rocket ships were strong, they had technology to help us keep in contact with the
people we were separated from. It had GPS, with Aunty Cindy telling us where to go next. It had powerful
boosters that pushed us to keep going. Most importantly, we had a support crew, so whenever we needed
help, our answers and support were just an email, a text or a phone call away. Everyone travelled to the same
destination, but we all took different paths, different exits and even some roundabouts, yet after 8 weeks our
rocket ship expedition had reached our destination. Lockdown was over.
Back Again:
Here we were, it might’ve as well been the first day of school, because we basically got a Summer Holiday. As
much as we wanted things to be completely back to normal, they weren’t. There were new rules like: only
entering school through certain gates, not being able to come into the premises until 8:30, sanitizing basically
every 2 minutes, and trying to keep out of peoples moist breath zone. Our rocket ships were too big for this
highway, our boats were not made for cement and our cars were not strong enough. The only options were
trucks, they were just big enough for us to zoom up hills and just small enough to fit under tunnels. The only
thing that didn’t change was our support crew, they were still there, Aunty Cindy was still there, we never
needed to feel like we were going through our journey alone. Little by little, we drove back into normality and
signs came up ahead of us like “10 days Covid-19 Free!” “20 days Covid-19 free”, we even managed to reach
“100 days without community transmission, until something came up on our dashboard, something that said
our rocket ships would be needed for again.
Lockdown Take 2:
This lockdown really came as a shock.. We were back up in our individual rocket ships for another surprising
ride. But this time being on our rockets was not completely new to us, so finding our happy place was not at
all hard. We got out of lockdown in record time and headed back to school, to quote Mrs Herbert “Bright eyed
and bushy tailed”
Return #2 - a safe landing:
A sense of normality returned as we arrived back in school, finally in level one. Everyone was excited for
ballroom dancing and a trip to the cinema. Our class had a lot of fun, making jokes and having a good time.
We did a lot of practising, for ballroom dancing and for athletics. We knew we had to do better than all of the
other classes. It was a busy term with everyone looking forward to going to college next year, but we managed
to stay sane and get everything done. Towards the end we had a graduation to look forward to, and of course
our final goodbyes. This was a year we would remember forever.

Dear Mrs Ward,
2020 has been a turbulent, and sometimes difficult year for our learning. But through
this, we have had so many great times, including our learning. Even though we’ve had
several lockdowns, learned at school and home (as well as your jury duty), we have still
had a fantastic year.
Although this year has been a twisty roller coaster ride, we’ve gotten through while
having heaps of fun. Several great times that have to be touched on are: Camp Adair,
lockdown for our class and learning at school (including the across Y8 learning).
When we started on day one, we had no idea how this year was going to pan out for us
at school. We didn’t even know how much we’d like Y8. We were just getting to know
each other and easing into the workload for the first couple of weeks. Then several
more passed, fraught with the anticipation for camp - one of the highlights of our year.
Camp was amazing, with everything being fun. The food was awesome and all of the
activities were so cool to participate in. It was an amazing team bonding exercise.
When we got back from camp, Covid-19 in NZ was picking up, so some people began
to take the chance to get their Restricted Licence. In Week 8, we moved into Level Four,
and had to go home (the school holidays being extended) for life in lockdown.
Our life in lockdown was very different - almost nobody alive had ever been through
something like this. You were very organised and we had lots of fun attending virtual
google meets (sometimes themed very strangely). It was a welcome change from
school and the first week was strange. Once we settled into it, we began to really enjoy
it. People bumped into each other on walks a lot more, and we generally had to email/-
do a google meet for help. We had two lockdowns so, by the second, we were able to
just get into it and do all of the work. Over both lockdowns, we had quite a few people
get their licences, which was very exciting. Getting back to school after this was differ-
ent, but it was great to be able to personally see all our friends. School had some great
parts as well.
At school, the learning has been made far more interesting/fun than it could have been
and has had many highlights. We never knew that Y8 could turn out to be such a good
year - with a great teacher and our amazing class. The across Y8 learning for Inquiry,
Maths and Literacy have been great and a great opportunity to work with new people,
get their expertise, what they have to offer to you, and do something new. It has been
fun to plan our own timetables to get the best out of our learning. There were also
creative ways for us to present our learning - the Soundtrack Of My Life or other assign-
ments like our sculpture - they were not just work. Whenever you set us tasks, it wasn’t
just like "oh, I need three things for the reading P/L, I'll put in this, this and this." Each
task that you set us were ones that we learnt something from (even if we do not see it).
We would like to thank you for everything you have done this year. We are so lucky to
have been in your class. Having you as our teacher is something we are all so grateful
for. We have had an amazing year of our last primary/intermediate or time at SHS (we
will hopefully try to visit when time allows).
Our class fits together just like a puzzle, and we are all perfect as a class. There is no
teacher quite like you. No school year like this.

Class Report
By Sylvie, Theo, Holly & Angela
Room 19 has had a lot of ups and downs this year, with a minimal amount
of sports, lots of Google Meets, assignments, and fun highlighting our
year. We all had a very exciting time in lockdown, from sleeping in, to
watching Netflix, dressing up for Freaky and Formal Friday, and much
much more. On top of that, Mr Nevalagi had provided us with some cool
challenges to do over lockdown, such as pancake art, wearing over 30
layers of clothing, and covering ourselves in stuffed toys. Coming out of
Level Three, some of our classmates found it harder than others to get
back into a school routine, BUT we all pulled together to help each other
out, and really enjoyed being reunited after not seeing each other in
person after a very long time away from school.
Our class has our own special values, we created the Pillars of Greatness
to help us make sure our class has a healthy and cheerful environment.
These Pillars of Greatness give us a strong foundation to make sure that
we challenge ourselves, be positive, show consideration, initiative and
resilience. The pillars have taught us to take responsibility for our actions
and show respect for each other. We have promised to live up to these
expectations and tried our best to make our class a better and happier
place. “Don’t be sorry. Be better.” - Mr Nevalagi, 2020.
During our time at school, we have completed many learning tasks which
have kept us challenged such as essays, flash talks, a speech analysis,
and a whole bunch of laps for reflections. We haven't had a lot of time to
do sport at school because of Lockdown but we have made the most of
every chance we have been given whether it was just normal class sport
or house sport. We have been pushing ourselves to improve in writing,
reading & maths so that we can learn more and better ourselves. We have
had an amazing year as the seniors of SHS and are looking forward to our
first year in college.

What Lockdown Looked Like In Room 19 By Holly & Angela
During the past two lockdowns, Room 19 has been on a rollercoaster of adventures. Through homeschooling, Google
meets and sleeping in, Room 19 was able to develop a sense of responsibility and we united as a team to push through
this crazy time. We had challenges, successes and goals to overcome in the time of two very diverse Lockdowns.
Sleeping in was one of the luxuries in lockdown, as well as getting to make our own daily routines, and eating whenever
we wanted to. There were horrible days, when parents forced us to exercise and ride our bikes, while counting the
number of stray teddy bears in our neighbourhood. There were also days we valued, like waking up a minute before our
9.30am check-in.
Every morning of the school week, we attended Google Meets to check-in with Mr Nevalagi and our peers. A few of us 25
ended up doing a fun Kahoot! where we invented funny names and played to win. One of the parts we missed most in
our second lockdown was Ballroom Dancing - hopefully we get a chance to do it again Term 4.
