What’s

YOUR COLOUR?
E ver wondered what influences interior home and décor
trends? Well I’ve noticed how it all begins with what the
fashion industry finds trendy, and in this case it’s florals with
bold colours and intricate patterns – but still making sure that
every individual taste is catered for.

The use of bright and vibrant colours seems to be standing out

Garden Route, this dreamy home is a piece of
heaven on Earth for its family. “Being nestled

paradise,” says the owner.
A property that has been designed as a sanctuary
for this family and an escape from their busy
lifestyle, this holiday home is not your typical beach
house. Instead it celebrates strong contemporary
architecture and refreshingly modern interiors.

The simple brief to the architect detailed a
contemporary home of straight, clean lines with
structural features that would complement the
natural surrounds of the location.

“We wanted to create a home that speaks to
our personalities and the style we love – all which
dictated the choices in the architectural approach,”
adds the owner.

In contrast, the open-plan kitchen is a bold

From it all, the owner comments on the elements

– designed by blu_line – effortlessly integrates with the
surrounding architecture of this contemporary home.
Briefed to create a space that allows for free movement,
blu_line ensured the design accommodates for indoor
as well as outdoor functions. This was achieved by the
use of multiple materials such as Nero glass, Champagne
aluminium, stone and concrete to accurately capture the
desired indoor/outdoor look and feel. With showrooms
in Cape Town and Johannesburg, blu_line is known
throughout South Africa for its high-end kitchen design
and fine workmanship.

Embracing its location, the home has been
designed to savour the indoor-outdoor living
experience with majestic Highveld views at
every turn.

The living area, which is situated on the
ground floor, opens up to a beautiful lanai that
features an entertainment area as well as an
inviting pool and jetted hot tub. This is a space
that’s perfect for both hosting guests and
having a quiet night in.

The interior is simple yet classy, with luxe
finishes and furnishings. Opting for a neutral
colour palette, the owner wanted a modern feel
for the living areas. And with the assistance
of an in-house interior designer, the look was
curated and executed with ease.
