1 INTRODUCTION

As we all know, there are four types of essays which are:

ARGUMENTATIVE
EXPRESSES AN EXTENDED ARGUMENT FOR A PARTICULAR THESIS STATEMENT. THE PROMPT WILL
OFTEN ASK YOU TO ARGUE FOR ONE OF TWO POSITIONS, AND MAY INCLUDE TERMS LIKE
“ARGUE” OR “ARGUMENT.”

EXPOSITORY
PROVIDES A CLEAR, FOCUSED EXPLANATION OF A PARTICULAR TOPIC, PROCESS, OR SET OF
IDEAS. IT DOESN’T SET OUT TO PROVE A POINT, JUST TO GIVE A BALANCED VIEW OF ITS SUBJECT
MATTER.

DESCRIPTIVE
GIVES A VIVID, DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF SOMETHING—GENERALLY A PLACE OR OBJECT, BUT
POSSIBLY SOMETHING MORE ABSTRACT LIKE AN EMOTION.

NARRATIVE
IN MOST CASES, THIS IS A STORY ABOUT A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE YOU HAD. NARRATIVE ESSAYS
TEST YOUR ABILITY TO EXPRESS YOUR EXPERIENCES IN A CREATIVE AND COMPELLING WAY, AND
TO FOLLOW AN APPROPRIATE NARRATIVE STRUCTURE.

Objectives

-TO SHOW DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE FOUR TYPES
OF ESSAY
-TO SHOW STEP BY STEP OF A WRITING PROCESS
-TO GIVE EXAMPLE OR IDEA HOW EACH ESSAY SHOULD
LOOK LIKE

Reasons

-SO THAT THE STUDENTS COULD UNDERSTAND
HOW AND WHEN TO USE A TYPE OF ESSAY
DURING WRITING
- IN ORDER FOR THE STUDENTS TO BE ABLE TO
WRITE THOROUGHLY WHEN WRITING ESSAY
-SO THAT STUDENTS COULD USE CORRECT
TECHNIC WHEN WRITING ESSAY

3 EXAMPLES OF ESSAY

: ARGUMENTATIVE

As online learning becomes more common and
more and more resources are converted to
digital form, some people have suggested that
public libraries should be shut down and, in their
place, everyone should be given an iPad with an
e-reader subscription.

Proponents of this idea state that it will save
local cities and towns money because libraries
are expensive to maintain. They also believe it
will encourage more people to read because
they won’t have to travel to a library to get a
book; they can simply click on what they want to
read and read it from wherever they are. They
could also access more materials because
libraries won’t have to buy physical copies of
books; they can simply rent out as many digital
copies as they need.

3 EXAMPLES OF ESSAY

: ARGUMENTATIVE

However, it would be a serious mistake to
replace libraries with tablets. First, digital books
and resources are associated with less learning
and more problems than print resources. A study
done on tablet vs book reading found that
people read 20-30% slower on tablets, retain
20% less information, and understand 10% less
of what they read compared to people who
read the same information in print. Additionally,
staring too long at a screen has been shown to
cause numerous health problems, including
blurred vision, dizziness, dry eyes, headaches,
and eye strain, at much higher instances than
reading print does. People who use tablets and
mobile devices excessively also have a higher
incidence of more serious health issues such as
fibromyalgia, shoulder and back pain, carpal
tunnel syndrome, and muscle strain. I know that
whenever I read from my e-reader for too long,
my eyes begin to feel tired and my neck hurts.
We should not add to these problems by giving
people, especially young people, more reasons
to look at screens.

3 EXAMPLES OF ESSAY

: ARGUMENTATIVE

Second, it is incredibly narrow-minded to
assume that the only service libraries offer is
book lending. Libraries have a multitude of
benefits, and many are only available if the
library has a physical location. Some of these
benefits include acting as a quiet study space,
giving people a way to converse with their
neighbors, holding classes on a variety of topics,
providing jobs, answering patron questions, and
keeping the community connected. One
neighborhood found that, after a local library
instituted community events such as play times
for toddlers and parents, job fairs for teenagers,
and meeting spaces for senior citizens, over a
third of residents reported feeling more
connected to their community. Similarly, a Pew
survey conducted in 2015 found that nearly two-
thirds of American adults feel that closing their
local library would have a major impact on their
community. People see libraries as a way to
connect with others and get their questions
answered, benefits tablets can’t offer nearly as
well or as easily.

3 EXAMPLES OF ESSAY

: ARGUMENTATIVE

While replacing libraries with tablets may seem
like a simple solution, it would encourage
people to spend even more time looking at
digital screens, despite the myriad issues
surrounding them. It would also end access to
many of the benefits of libraries that people
have come to rely on. In many areas, libraries
are such an important part of the community
network that they could never be replaced by a
simple object.

3 EXAMPLES OF ESSAY

: EXPOSITORY

To begin with, while traditional education considers the main value of
educational process to be the knowledge transferred to the student,
Botkin’s innovative education presents the knowledge as a means rather
than an end, at the same time orienting at the development of the
student’s personality through knowledge. It is less concerned with
controlling the educational process, trying to create circumstances in
which the student would establish his or her own goals and achieve them,
while transforming his or her own self and self-regulating the studying
process.
Traditional education represents in itself more or less stable structure,
without undergoing dramatic differences in the course of years. The
accumulation of knowledge goes on, of course, but only in the subjects
where it is impossible to avoid, for example, history and literature, which
are being expanded all the time. Curriculum for exact sciences, like
physics or mathematics may not change for decades. Botkin offers
another decision, which presupposes that educational system is dynamic,
ever-changing structure that is being regrouped and renewed constantly,
with new programs and educational disciplines appearing all the time.
As opposed to reproductive nature of traditional education (the student
perceives information and reproduces it), innovative education is
supposed to be only and specifically creative process. It should teach
students to create text irrespectively of its subject, understand
information even if it has never been perceived by the student yet, solve
any problems by means of independent thinking rather than applying pre-
existing, memorized solutions.
It also cancels the long-lasting tradition of relationship “teacher-student”
as “superior-inferior”, making both the teacher and the student equal
participants of educational process, who work on one and the same task
in cooperation, rather than submission. Any kind of outside control is
supposed to be harmful for the process and, therefore, abolished, with its
place taken by self-control, mutual control and coordination.
Of course, the self-sufficient system of education based on equality of
teacher and student may look really alluring, but all the same, it is more
of a utopia than reality. Botkin idealizes children and thinks that it is
possible to create such system; reality would most likely say “no”.

3 EXAMPLES OF ESSAY

: DESCRIPTIVE

Over the years that I knew her, I gained an uncommon respect for the
librarian at our high school. In one word she could be described as
"eccentric", but only because she refused to accept the stereotypical notion
of what the term "librarian" had come to mean. The students thought she was
just plain weird, but those who took the time to know her realized she was a
person searching for a comfortable identity.

At first glance, she could indeed be a formidable figure to behold. Her hair
was most often in disarray simply as a result of her compulsion to go
everywhere in tenth speed. Not only was her gait a marvel, but her purpose
was also a wonder. She always gave one the impression she had a mission,
and, at that express moment, had been called forth to duty. When classes
would commence, she would proudly stride off to her room, as if a group of
novice missionaries awaited her divine intervention.

Her habit of dress, however, was not in the least missionary-like. In fact, the
students used to kid her about getting a summer job as a highway flagman.
The brighter the colors, the more she became entranced by their iridescence.
As she flashed through the library, students became hushed as if a bolt of
lightning had struck. In the morning, her emerald greens and hot pinks were
eye-openers for the rest of us when she walked through the staff room door.

Characteristically, her first words were a singsongy "Good Morning!"
whereupon everyone would look up waiting for the next outpouring. She had
an unconscionable taste for polysyllabic words – the more syllables the
better. She used them with such flair, they looked good on her; and we could
only smile, nod and try to make a witty rejoinder. Too often, we would be
unfamiliar with the words, so she would again march off to another venue
with the assurance that she had stymied the lot of us.

Though she spoke precisely, as you might expect of one in her position, her
voice was always at peak volume. A favorite response of the librarian’s aide
was, "You shrieked, madame?" In fact, students could audit her classes in the
hallways, or on a clear day, even in the lunchroom.

3 EXAMPLES OF ESSAY

: DESCRIPTIVE

Similarly, her other ways did not resemble those of a librarian. She was easily
flustered – not at all cool and composed like some of her predecessors. One
particular day nearing the Christmas holiday, a very well-established physics
teacher on staff kissed her full on the lips in front of almost all her colleagues.
She went into a rage and made it clear that another such liberty would be
inexcusable. Later that day, some mischievous students, who had gained
access to the crawl space above the library, lowered a rubber chicken into
her office, suspended a rope decorated with mistletoe. By the end of the day,
her patience was severely tried and so it was no surprise to any of us when
she polkaed too exuberantly at the staff party and knocked over the
Christmas tree. What would have been embarrassing for many others was
often summarily dealt with by "The Happy Booker," the pseudonym she was
not unhappy to have bestowed upon her.

When our colorful librarian moved away to new lifestyle, chic hairdo and
trendy clothes, we felt cheated when a very acceptable, but normal lady
came to take her place. Who would wake us up every morning with the word
for the day? Whose voice would be ringing through the halls even after the
last bell had rung? Would she realize she had taken a part of us away with
her? Most importantly, would she realize the legacy she left behind?

3 EXAMPLES OF ESSAY

: NARRATIVE

What is your attitude towards loneliness? Do you think it is a curse when
you are isolated from the rest of the world, left face-to-face with
yourself? Or do you, on the contrary, seek it, appreciating each moment
of silence you can snatch from the surrounding world? These small breaks
can help you replenish your energy and reorganize your thoughts so that
you can start each day as a new one—not as an extension of a previous
one. As for me, I am more of the second kind of person; solitude for me is
a gift, which is valued less by people than it should be accorded.

In my childhood and teen years, I had a perfect place to go to when I felt
like being on my own. In a small town in the centre of America, where I
lived back then, we had a steep hill on the outskirts. On its top, an old
warehouse stood. No one, even older people, seemed to know who built
that warehouse in such an inconvenient place, and what for. Some said
smugglers used it during World War II for their own purposes; others told
stories about local slaveholders who lived in our town a long time ago—
those people were thought to have kept slaves in the old warehouse. For
us children, that old wooden shack was a haunted place with a grim,
bloody story of love and treason.

None of the townsmen had ever visited the old warehouse. Children were
scared and adults did not feel like climbing up the steep slope for no
reason. For most of the year, I was its only visitor. With my legs dangling
from the attic’s crossbar, usually with an apple in my hand, I watched the
sunsets and sunrises, and tiny ants running here and there, and the birds
in a nest above my head (for some reason, they were not afraid of me),
and the life beneath my outlook point. During such moments, what was
meaningful to me was only what I could see, hear, touch, or smell. My
school worries, arguments with friends, unrequited first love, and even
Mrs. Finch’s cat that I accidentally ran over by my bicycle—all this, as well
as many other things—did not exist. And now, when I reminisce about my
childhood, I remember the warm golden light, soft shades in the attic, the
smell of fresh hay, and the tile rooftops of my town.

3 EXAMPLES OF ESSAY

: NARRATIVE

Sometimes, as I visited the warehouse, I met other people there. Usually
they were vagabonds, staying for a couple of days before moving ahead,
or seasonal workers traveling across the entire country further to the
west. When this happened, I behaved like a cautious animal, and
fortunately, I never had problems with them. If they stayed long enough, I
would bring them some canned food, and in exchange, they told me their
stories or joked with me. I heard stories of loneliness and long railway
trails; unpaid labor and failed marriages; crashed hopes and vehement
dreams. In their voices, I could hear the wisdom and the ignorance of the
world. They shared their fears, their grief, or their joy with a 13-year-old
kid from an American no-name remoteness, knowing he will not spill the
beans. Or even if I would (though I never did), still they saw me for the
first and last time in their lives.

I believe that the old warehouse determined my life. The destinies of
other people—perplexed, complicated, but at the same time keen and
full of real-life—helped me understand myself and the world around me,
providing me with answers to issues that worry teenagers. Who am I? Why
is everything as it is? Who are the people around me? What should I do?
How should I treat others? Those vagabonds, those people, whom people
in our town contemptuously called “low-lives,” taught me things much
more valuable than what I could study in vaunted universities.

I still enjoy solitude, when I have a free minute. And, just like in my
adolescence, I enjoy the company of unfamiliar random people, who
appear in my life for several moments: in an airplane, in the train, in a
hitch, in a cafe. They tell me their stories and leave—and I carefully write
them down….

I am a writer, you know.

4 DRAFT OF WRITING

: DRAFTING (ARGUMENTATIVE)

As we all knew, the world now are facing
dangerous epidemic, so due to that, students
are facing problem in continuing their
learning. In the past, we onlu have traditional
learnig which is face to face learning,. But
now, we have two methods of learning which
are tradtinal learning and online learning.
Online learning is a rapidly expanding
environment which allow the users the
flexibility of operating outside of the constant
of time and place. Online learning also knon
as “learning that takes place partialy or
entirely over the Internet.

4 DRAFT OF WRITING

: DRAFTING (ARGUMENTATIVE)

Both study methods have their own

advantages and disadvantages. We can’t say

that online learning more helpful than

traditional learning because online learning

also have their own disadvantages. So, lets

see together what are the advantages and

disadvantages of online anf traditional

learning. First of all, online learning is

considered conducive to students who favor

self-regulated learning. It is because

sometimes the lecturer cannot attend the

class eventhough through online but still they

give their students a task that need to be

completed on a certain time. In this context,

students who favor self-regulated learning will

like it because they have their own time to

study the materials given by their lecturers.

While traditional learning provides students to

learn face to face with their lecturers. For

example, if they do not understand certain

things, then they can directly ask from their

lecturers about that.

4 DRAFT OF WRITING

: DRAFTING (ARGUMENTATIVE)

Another advantages of online learning is that
it have the potential to open the pathways for
more oppurtunities for students in a small,
rural or low socioeconomic school districts.

Not all students are lucky to continue their
studies, sometimes not everyday they can
attend the classes. Maybe they gave a
problem with transportation due to lack of it
like cars or busses. But by having an online
classes, they can attend the classes every day
on the right time.

While, another advantage of traditional
learninf is students get the oppurtunities to
learn with their friends. Unlike online learning,
they are some students whom their houses are
near to each other attend the classes
together, but there are some students that
they attend the classes alone. Study with
friends is more fun and interesting because
students can meet face to face and exchange
their ideas. Also, the got to complete their
tasks together.

4 DRAFT OF WRITING

: DRAFTING (ARGUMENTATIVE)

As I said, we can say that online learning is
more better than traditional or otherwise. In
this pharagraph, I will show the disadvantages
of both methods. Online learning is very easy
amd more efficient, but when it comes to
connection, there are somes need to struggle
to find a good internet connection. There are
some students need to go out from their
houses just to find better connection. In this
context, we can see that when it comes to
connections, online learning will cause some
troubles to students.Besides, there are some
students that do nt have enough equipments
for online learning such as laptop, phone ad
others. As a students, the most important thing
that we need to have is laptop. By using
laptop, students get to attend their classes via
Google Meet, Google Classroom or any other
platforsm. Eventhoug students have their own
smart phne but still it is limited to use for
online learning.

4 DRAFT OF WRITING

: DRAFTING (ARGUMENTATIVE)

Now, let’s see the disadvantages of traditional

learning. The first one is the process learning

of traditional learning is limited only in the

classroom. Students are prohibited from

bringing an electronic devices like laptop and

phone because it may brings distraction to

students. So, the facilities to obtain

information are very limited. Besides,

traditional learning is not suitable for

introverts students since they are not

comfortable to talk in front of many people. It

is very hard form them to participate actively

in the classroom since they are too shy to give

thei opinion to their classmates. Unlike online

learning, students can turn off their camera

while talking. So it is not very embarrassing for

them to give out their opinions.

4 DRAFT OF WRITING

: DRAFTING (ARGUMENTATIVE)

In conclusion, it doesn’t matter if students uses
any learning method in their study as long as
they are happy and comfortable with it.
Online learning has their own advantages so
same goes to traditional learning. I think right
now it is better for us to study using online
learning method since cases is still with higher
amounts. But in certain subjects, I think it is
better to learn it face to face. For example,
medical studies like operate someone, I think it
is better to learn face to face since it is easy
to learn through online. So, I hope after this, I
will not listen any arguments over this topic.
There’s no more people who only supports
online learning or there’s no more who only
supports traditional learning.

4 DRAFT OF WRITING

: DRAFTING (EXPOSITORY)

Paragraph 1

A. Hook statement: People have been comparing between online learning and traditional learning lately
B. Brief background: This is because ever since the existence of pandemic Covid-19, more and more
students have been shifting from traditional learning to online learning because it is unsafe for the
students to meet their teachers face to face.
c. Thesis statement: What is the similarities and differences between traditional and online learning?

Paragraph 2: Body paragraph 1

A. Topic sentence: Both traditional and online learning require reference materials as a method of
gaining knowledge.
B. Supporting evidence: It is proven by common sense observation that there is a lot of benefit from
extensive reading, (Waring 2000,2006)
C. Analysis evidence: From extensive reading, students get to enhance their understanding of a lesson
thus increasing their knowledge
D. Concluding: Hence, reference materials are acquitted by the students in both traditional learning
and online learning in order to increase student’s knowledge.

Paragraph 3: Body paragraph 2

A. Topic sentence: Another shared similarity between traditional and online learning is both traditional
and online learning provide assignments.
B. Supporting evidence: According to Teachmint@wp, assignments are task given to students and must
be completed by them
C. Analysis evidence: The purpose of it is to analyse the understanding of students
D. Concluding: Therefore, assignments are provided by both traditional and online learning to help
students reflect on their learning.

Paragraph 4: body paragraph 3

A. Topic sentence: One of the vital differences between traditional and online learning is the
interaction between students with their teachers.
B Supporting evidence: Traditional learning approach in synchronous learning only while online learning
can be both synchronous and asynchronous learning.
C. Analyse evidence: Online learning is praised for its flexibility. For instance, students can study while
working (hart, 2008). Contrastingly, traditional learning only offers face to face interaction. As a result,
students cannot do other things besides studying
D. Concluding: To conclude this, both traditional and online learning have different approach regarding
their interaction and both of them have their own pros and cons on that approach.

Paragraph 5: Body paragraph 4

A. Topic sentence: Finally, the difference between traditional and online learning is the pace of
receiving feedbacks.
B. Supporting evidence: In traditional learning, students can exchange idea directly without any lag in
the classroom while online learning might use online platform to communicate during unsynchronous
learning.
C. Analyse evidence: Students can receive feedback and knowledge easier and faster using traditional
learning hence students will be more satisfied, (Bourne & Moore, 2003). Contrastingly, when using
online platform during online learning, this could be a problem for students who need quick reply from
peers and lecturers
D. Concluding: Thus, the pace of receiving feedback between traditional and online learning create a
different between both style of learning.

Paragraph 6: Body paragraph 5

A. Restating thesis statement: There are so many similarities and differences between traditional and
online learning.
B. Summary: Both of the style has it own’s pros and cons.
C. Unanswered question: Therefore, students need to adapt both style in order to maximized their
learning.

4 DRAFT OF WRITING

: DRAFTING (DESCRIPTIVE)

The sea has always been part of my life, as I was born in a small coastal
town. I am one of those lucky people who can see it every day and enjoy
its incredible beauty and power. My parents brought me to the beach
when I was a small child, and I were immediately impressed by its limitless
horizon, color, and waves. My best childhood memories are connected with
the sea, which is not surprising anymore given the fact that I spent all my
free time there.
When I was a small kid, it had nothing except for the sand and pebbles, as
well as the long pier that divided it into two parts, which were simply
called “left” and “right.” Although these parts were the same beach, they
have always looked different to me. The left side is shorter, but it has a
much better view on the coast, which ends with the tall red cliff that is
usually seen when the air is clear. The right side is longer and less curvy,
and it has more pebbles than the left one. It is also surrounded by the
water, as it is washed by the sea on the one side and by the lake on the
other. I liked to be on both sides of the pier as the left side reminds me of
my lost kitten while the right side reminds me of being there with my late
grandmother.
When I was a young kid, the sea and the lake were sometimes joined by a
small strait that usually dried up in summer. My father used to go fishing on
the lake, as it was a peaceful place where one could relax and simply
enjoy nature. However, the sea has always attracted many people,
especially in summer. People like to spend their time by going to the beach
as the beach offers them so much beautiful scenery of the never ending
sea view. Local residents have begun building cafes and shops near the
pier to attract tourists, and the road that led to the beach was eventually
overbuilt with lodges, hotels, and shops. Someone even built a café on the
pier itself, making it a noisy place with loud music and drunk tourists. The
beach itself, however, has remained intact for quite a long time.

4 DRAFT OF WRITING

: DRAFTING (DESCRIPTIVE)

Authorities have constructed changing facilities here and there, but they
did not change the view much. In some ways, the beach was still a nice
place to spend time, especially if one took some pains to walk away
from the pier and all the noise. During the past years, however, the local
authorities have developed a plan of reconstructing the place to make it
more convenient and attractive for tourists.
As a result, several cafes were built right on the left part of the beach.
On the right side, the long beach promenade was built, which required
cutting down some old trees that grew there. On both sides of the
paved road, many small shops and cafes were built, blocking the view of
the sea. What is worse, there are now many beach chairs, umbrellas, and
other stuff designed to make the experience more convenient for
tourists. The left side of the beach that has always attracted me with its
wilderness and space has become flooded with tourists, who do not
even realize how wonderful it is to laon the hot sand and simply listen to
the sound of the waves and seagulls.
I miss those days when I could come to the beach to connect with
nature. I used to walk along the coast looking for some beautiful shells
brought by the waves.

4 DRAFT OF WRITING

: DRAFTING (NARRATIVE)

Since middle school, I have always liked to read manhwa and manga or
the words that people used to called it; comics. It's excite me knowing
full well all those stories that I've read was based on people's
imagination. There's this one manhwa artist that I truly adored. Keeping
up the update on all her works shows off how much a fan I am towards
her. Crazy much? However, that's not what I am going to tell you. The
stories goes like this. It happened in the middle of hot summer days
when I realized something odd had occurred to me. One morning when I
opened my eyes, things that I see before me shocked me. Before I knew
it, seeing just the colour of the ceiling made me awake. I gasped in
surprise as I sat upright. My eyes flailed around, immediately recognise
that the bedroom that I was in wasn’t mine. Heart thumping loudly, my
mind wandering into yesterday memories, trying my best to remember
what did happen yesterday. Though, no memories came upon. “What
have I done?” I thought, combing my fingers through my short hair—wait,
what! Short hair? I abruptly get out of the bed and roaming around the
bedroom, only to find myself the seconds later having staring contest
with my what I guessed my own reflection. I was stunned. Taking a few
steps closer to the mirror, I stretched out my hand. "Just look at that
face," I said out loud. A fresh-good looking faced, glossy yet fluffy to the
touch jet black haired, fine jawline. Oh gosh! It looks like straight out of
manhwa stories. His face is picture-perfect. Truthfully, it this were to be
my face, I might also kiss myself. But for real, who and what exactly had
happened to me?

After all those surprises, I had decided to explore the house. Surprisingly,
the house was in a neat condition: no speck of dust, the furniture were
arranged fitly, and no dirty laundry. For an unknown man, this house
deserved an applause since it is beyond my expectations. As I was
checking all spots in the house, the sounds of ringing phone could be
heard. I walked towards the origin of the sounds and stumbled upon a
smartphone; placed on the coffee table in the living room.

Under it, lay down a stack of white paper. Staring down, I pondered over
the question whether I should answered the call or not. It would give me
the hint as who owner this body is but if any possible that this owner is a
celebrity, it would be a hot news if they knew that this owner isn't the
right person. "Sigh! What should I do?" As it takes about 10 minutes for
me to decides, I brave myself and picked up the call.

"Hello?" Deep and hoarse voice came out from my mouth.
"Miss Aura?" The ones on the other line said. Anxiously, I looked at the
phone screen. The word 'Manager' shown. 'Manager?'
"How do you know my name?" I suspiciously asked.
"I know it from the owner of the body that you're in right now."
"Wait, the owner? That means he's not dead. Where is he? Let me see
him. I want to get my body back."
"..." There was a pause as silence took in.
"Hello?"
"Please forgive me. If you want to know furthermore about the details,
you can call your number."
"My number... You mean, my-"
"Yes, your phone number. I'd like to have a talk with you for more longer
but unfortunately, I'm a busy man. So then, I excuse myself first."
"Wait-!" The manager ended the calls, leaving me dumbfounded. Taking
in all the information, I plopped down the couch and sigh heavily. Hastily,
I made a call to my number only to be picked up by a girl with my voice.
Getting to hear my original voice even though it's only for a couple of
hours since I've lost my body made me sighed in relief.
"Ah, let me guess. Aura, right?" My body said.
"Yes, I am. I'll be straight to the point. I want my body back, Mr. I-don't-
know-who"
"It's harsh but I can get used to it."
"Get used to it?"

4 DRAFT OF WRITING

: DRAFTING (NARRATIVE)

"Nevermind that. Come at Fairytale Cafe at 11am and goes straight
away to the back of the cafe and you'll see you again." As he said what
he wants, he ended the call. I slapped my forehead hard, grunting. "Who
exactly is this guy?"

The clock strike eleven in the morning as I walked into the back of the
cafe just like the unknown man wanted. I'm for sure ain't a brave person.
Truth be told, I'm an introvert. I hardly ever talked to people especially my
classmates at school. I used to spend my time alone at the rooftop,
reading comics and sometimes staring into nothing. It makes me feel
safe, like I am in my own world where nothing or anyone can hurts me. It
is my precious barriers and who knows that the time has come for me to
turned it off. "This meeting should be worth my time." The walk towards
the table feels like eternity. My heartbeat quickened as I wondered about
the person who I was going to meet. How old is he? Perhaps in his
twenties? What does he do for living? "Aura, here" A voice which I'm so
familiar with greeted me. There he was in my body, sitting down at the
chair, waving his hand out. "Let's start our stories, shall we?" The unknown
smirked. I could tell that he really enjoyed this as I've had no choice other
than saying yes. We talked and talked as both us explain in details about
what happened before we switched our bodies. Overall, we knew that
neither me or him did anything irregular but how does in the world this

The bustling little town did gave me exhausted especially when the Comic
Expo is being held at the centre of town. Ah, you may be wondering how
could I got here. You see, it all happened batch at the time when we're in the
cafe. "I need you to replace me," he said in a serious tone. Before I could
protests, both of them had dragged me out and throw me in the back sit of a
black Mercedes Benz car. Reece briefly explained to me the things that I
need to do once we get to our destination. Smile, greet and sign. Those three
things that I need to do freaked me out real hard. For an introvert like me,
that would be out of my list. Though, how much I wanted to run away from this
nightmare, I couldn't do anything since I don't know Reece's address and thus,
I complied to his orders. As my first customers approach me, I stunned at the
cover of the comic book that she hold. "Isn't that..." I whispered silently to
myself. The comic book which laid in front of me is none other than the
manhwa I've read online, which I adored the author. Gasp! Reece is the
author. I turned my head towards him just to see him stiffled a giggle from my
reaction. "You're quite slow, aren't ya?" He muttered.

I watched as people left with wide smile plastered on their lips, feeling
satisfied that they got their favorite author's signature. Though, I feel bad for
deceiving them as I'm not the original artist, I can't help but to grinned when I
saw their happy faces. It somehow tickling my heart. The atmosphere lasted
only for a moment until the lights flickering on and off, making the crowds go
panic. I jumped out of the chair, heads turning to the left and right. "Am I
going to die?" I asked in a lower voice. "No, you're not," said Reece, as he
gripped tightly on my arm. Not only the lights went wrong, the two of us felt
the sudden headache. I held my head, painfully. "It... hurts" The lights went off
completely leaving the crowds in a total darkness. When I opened my eyes
back, once again I found myself laying down in bed. Though, this time it was
my own bedroom. I blinked for a couple of times just to make sure whether
the events are real or just an imagination of mine. Sighing, I rolled over to the
side of the bed, reaching out to get my phone. "It really was a dream..."
Sitting up, I unlocked the phone and see some messages. "Ah, maybe it is
real"

The sea has always been part of life, as I was born in a small coastal
town. I am one of those lucky people who can see it every day and enjoy
its incredible beauty and power. My parents brought me to the beach
when I was a small child, and I was immediately impressed by its limited
horizon, color, and waves. My best childhood memories are connecting
with the sea, which is not surprising anymore given the fact that I spent
all my free time there.
Therefore, the beach is a special place for me, a place where I can be
alone with nature and a place where I can spend time with my friends.
The beach somehow can calm my messed up mind just by looking and
enjoying the breeze. In some way, it is one of my best friends, the one
that calms me down when I am sad or stress and the one that inspires
me with its immaculate beauty. The beach that is located in my town has
changed much since my childhood.
When I was a small kid, it had nothing except for the sand and pebbles,
as well as the long pier that divided it into two parts, which were simply
called “left” and “right.” Although these parts were the same beach,
they have always looked different to me. The left side is shorter, but it
has a much better view on the coast, which ends with the tall red cliff
that is usually seen when the air is clear. The right side is longer and less
curvy, and it has more pebbles than the left one. It is also surrounded by
the water, as it is wash by the sea on the one side and by the lake on
the other. I liked to be on both sides of the pier as the left side reminds
me of my lost kitten while the right side reminds me of being there with
my late grandmother.
When I was a young kid, the sea and the lake were sometimes joined by
a small strait that usually dried up in summer. My father used to go
fishing on the lake, as it was a peaceful place where one could relax
and simply enjoy nature. However, the sea has always attract many
people, especially in summer. People like to spend their time by going to
the beach as the beach offers them so much beautiful scenery of the
never ending sea view.

As a result, several cafes were built right on the left part of the beach.
On the right side, the long beach promenade was built, which required
cutting down some old trees that grew there. On both sides of the

The left side of the beach that has always attracted me with its

I miss those days when I could come to the beach to connect with

Staring down, I pondered
over the question whether I should answered the call or not. It would
give me the hint as who owner this body is but if any possible that this
owner is a celebrity, it would be a hot news if they knew that this owner
isn't the right person. "Sigh! What should I do?" As it takes about 10
minutes for me to decides, I brave myself and picked up the call.

"Hello?" Deep and hoarse voice came out from my mouth.
"Miss Aura?" The ones on the other line said. Anxiously, I looked at

the phone screen.

If you want to know furthermore about the

details, you can call your number."
"My number... You mean, my-"
"Yes, your phone number. I'd like to have a talk with you for more

longer but unfortunately, I'm a busy man. So then, I excuse myself first."
"Wait-!" The manager ended the calls, leaving me dumbfounded.

Taking in all the information, I plopped down the couch and sigh heavily.
Hastily, I made a call to my number only to be picked up by a girl with
my voice. Getting to hear my original voice even though it's only for a
couple of hours since I've lost my body made me sighed in relief.
"Ah, let me guess. Aura, right?" My body said.

"Yes, I am. I'll be straight to the point. I want my body back, Mr. I-don't-
know-who"

"It's harsh but I can get used to it."
"Get used to it?"

It

turned it off.

As we all knew (ws:know) , right now the world
are facing dangerous epidemic (what
epidemic? State the name of the epidemic) ,
so due to that, students are facing problem in
continuing their learning.studies. In the past,
we onlu (ws:only) have traditional learnig
which is face to face learning,. But now, we
have two methods of learning which are
tradtinal learning and online learning. Online
learning is a rapidly expanding environment
which allow the users the flexibility of
operating outside of the constant of time and
place. Online learning also knon as “learning
that takes place partialy or entirely over the
Internet.

ws:wrong spelling

4 DRAFT OF WRITING

: EDITING (ARGUMENTATIVE)

Both study methods have their own
advantages and disadvantages. We can’t say
that online learning is more helpful than
traditional learning because online learning
also have their own disadvantages. So, lets
see together what are the advantages and
disadvantages of online anf (ws;and)
traditional learning. First of all, online learning
is considered conducive to students who favor
self-regulated learning. It is because
sometimes the lecturers cannot attend the
class eventhough through online but still they
give their students a task that need to be
completed on a certain time. In this context,
students who favor self-regulated learning will
like it because they have their own time to
study the materials given by their the lecturers.
While traditional learning provides students to
learn face to face with their lecturers. For
example, if they do not understand certain
things, then they can directly ask from their
lecturers about that.

4 DRAFT OF WRITING

: EDITING (ARGUMENTATIVE)

Another advantages advantage of online
learning is that it have the potential to open
the pathways for more oppurtunities for
students in a small, rural or low socioeconomic
school districts. Not all students are lucky
enough to continue their studies, sometimes
not everyday they can attend the classes.
Maybe they gave (ws:have) a problem with
transportation due to lack of it like cars or
busses. But by having an online classes, they
can attend the classes every day on the right
time.

4 DRAFT OF WRITING

: EDITING (ARGUMENTATIVE)

While, another advantage of traditional
learninf learning is students get the
oppurtunities to learn with their friends. Unlike
online learning, they are some students whom
their houses are near to each other, so they
can attend the classes together, but there are
some students that they attend the classes
alone. Study with friends is more fun and
interesting because students can meet face to
face and exchange their ideas. Also, the got
to complete their tasks together.

4 DRAFT OF WRITING

: EDITING (ARGUMENTATIVE)

As I said, we can say that online learning is
more better than traditional or otherwise. In
this pharagraph, I will show the disadvantages
of both methods. Online learning is very easy
amd more efficient, but when it comes to
connection, there are somes some students
need to struggle to find a good internet
connection. There are some students need to
go out from their houses just to find better
connection. In this context, we can see that
when it comes to connections, online learning
will cause some troubles to students.Besides,
there are some students that do nt have
enough equipments for online learning such as
laptop, phone ad and others. As a students,
the most important thing that we need to have
is laptop. By using laptop, students get to
attend their classes via Google Meet, Google
Classroom or any other platforsm. Eventhoug
(ws:Eventhough) students have their own
smart phne phone but still it is limited to use
for online learning.

4 DRAFT OF WRITING

: EDITING (ARGUMENTATIVE)

Now, let’s see the disadvantages of traditional

learning. The first one is the process learning

of traditional learning is limited only in the

classroom. Students are prohibited from

bringing an electronic devices like laptop and

phone because it may brings distraction to

students. So, the facilities to obtain

information are very limited. Besides,

traditional learning is not suitable for

introverts students since they are not

comfortable to talk in front of many people. It

is very hard form them to participate actively

in the classroom since they are too shy to give

thei (ws:their) opinion to their classmates.

Unlike online learning, students can turn off

their camera while talking. So it is not very

embarrassing for them to give out their

opinions.

4 DRAFT OF WRITING

: EDITING (ARGUMENTATIVE)

In conclusion, it doesn’t matter if students uses
any learning method in their study as long as
they are happy and comfortable with it.
Online learning has their own advantages (try
to change word advantages to benefits) so
same goes to traditional learning. I think right
now it is better (more better) for us to study
using online learning method since cases is
still with higher amounts (keep increasing) .
But in certain subjects, I think it is better to
learn it face to face. For example, medical
studies like operate someone, I think it is
better to learn face to face since it is easy to
learn through online. So, I hope after this, I will
not listen any arguments over this topic.
There’s no more people who only supports
online learning or there’s no more who only
supports traditional learning.
