Medical Gas Terminal Units / Outlets

Infections, such as MRSA and C. difficile, are caused by microbes that thrive on objects we
touch every day. Antimicrobial Copper kills the microbes that cause those infections.
Three main characteristics make Antimicrobial Copper the most effective touch surface
material:

Continuously kills microbes
• Efficacy as an antimicrobial is scientifically proven to be far more effective than silver-

containing coatings
• Proven to continuously kill the microbes that cause infections
• The only solid metal touch surface approved by the US Environmental Protection

Agency (EPA).

G. Samaras SA uses antimicrobial copper for the Never wears out
caps of the gas outlets. This kind of cap is suit- • Continuous and ongoing antimicrobial action
able for the prevention and/or elimination of • Remains effective even after repeated wet and dry abrasion and re-contamination
various microbes, bacterias, fungi and viruses, • Natural oxidation does not impair efficacy.
ensuring maximum purity in supplying medical
gases to the patient. Safe to use
• Not harmful to people or the environment
• Inherently antimicrobial, no chemicals added
• Completely recyclable.

3.3.2 Quick action fittings/probes/adapters

G.SAMARAS S.A. manufactures high quality quick action fittings/adapters/probes ensuring great durability. They are being produced
from brass (agss from aluminum) while they bear sticker or engrave of the gas. They meet the following international standards:

3.3.3 PG profiles

The specific aluminum profile can be considered as a substitute for a bed head unit. It is a simple and cost efficient solution and is in-
dicated in cases of minimum available space. It can be installed either wall mounted (PG-EX) or wall embedded (PG-EM) while it can
accommodate basic components of a typical bed head unit such as medical gas outlets, electrical sockets, switches, etc.

3.5.2.3 Remote Management System (Medimote) MGSAP G1

HTM02-01 ENISO7396-1 TCP/IP

G. Samaras S.A. telemetry system can be used to transfer data captured remotely. Any analogue signal, usually from a transducer, or
digital signal can be interfaced to the hardware. Also, digital information can be transfered through Modbus and the telemetry
system digital (GPRS) to the Web Interface.
Remote monitoring has become an essential part in everyday life. The ability to monitor, control and manage remote devices is an
important factor for companies that can’t afford equipment failure.
Remote information is transmitted via the HTTP POST protocol to a HTTP server or via TCP/UDP to a server. The data are collected in a
database and the readings for each individual station is displayed through the portal. Data is sent at a pre-defined transmission interval
via the User Interface at initial installation or from the web application remotely.
If sms alerts have been configured, a registered engineer will receive an sms/e-mail if a threshold/criteria is monitored.

3.6.1 Wall mounted BHU

The wall-mounted Bed Head Unit is installed externally on the wall
above the patient’s bed. It provides all the necessities for the treatment
of the patient by the nurses (medical gas outlets), but also includes var-
ious features that add to the patient’s comfort during his hospitaliza-
tion, like lighting, electrical sockets and low voltage circuits (e.g.
telephone, data, nurse call etc).

I. Aluminium profiles - coloring
The bed head unit is manufactured from a special profile of aluminum
and coated with electrostatic paint.
The units are supplied in a white standard color RAL9016 or gray an-
odized. Optionally, any color of the RAL scale can be supplied too. All
G. Samaras BHU profiles are equiped also with one or more distinctive
decorative aluminium profile DR that can have any possible RAL color-
ing. This decorative aluminium small profile DR can be replaced by the
profile Type-R (rail profile add-on) for rail support system according to
DIN (25x10mm) in the profiles Alexandra-R, Theodoro-R, Kallipolis.

All units are labeled CE0653 to guarantee a high level of safety for patients and personnel.

VERTICAL BED HEAD UNITS 3.6.3 Power Column / Bed-side Locator

A. Power column. The power column may consist of a single or double profile. It includes
all the necessary gas and electrical outlets, as well as data and equipotential sockets. It
may also bare a rail for hanging various equipment. In case it is necessary it can include
an embedded lighting and medical gas alarm panel.
Its main advantage is that it provides a 360° access to the patient. The power column
gives to the care givers the ability to move around the bed without any obstacles and it
also provides direct access to the critical area where the head of the patient is found.

B. Bed side locator. The bed side locator is made of two different materials. A frame made
of aluminum which includes all the necessary electrical and data outlets and an internal
part made of HPL or aluminum.
It optimizes the hospital’s investment because it combines practicality and durability. Its
internal part is a hard and durable material that offers great protection to the walls from
bariatric beds and still its frame part can provide the essential to the nursing staff and
the patient electrical and data supply, by carefully placed outlets, which are protected
from damaging contacts with the bed, by having a specially designed inclined position.
It comes in various sizes in order to cover the needs of any type of bed the hospital uses
and it is very easy to install, use and clean.

C. Light. For a complete solution, bed side locators and power columns can be assisted
with a light placed on the wall behind the patient’s bed. The light can come in various
sizes and powers.

Our kids series of bed head units is specially designed to cre-
ate a more friendly and comfortable atmosphere to our little
friends. At the same time they cover all usual equipment of
a typical bed head unit such as medical gas outlets, electri-
cal sockets, lighting, data etc.
G.SAMARAS SA offers a various models which can cover dif-
ferent needs in horizontal or vertical layout. They are being
manufactured by extruded aluminum profiles of a great se-
lection of colors whereas the front cover with the kids theme
has the following options:
1. Direct printing on the bed head unit
2. Sticker of special design
In both options the materials that are being used are suitable for indoor use, resistant in all typical hospital detergents and disinfec-
tants and guarantee the long life of the graphics.
All bed head units are being designed and produced according to the specifications of each project there are lots of graphics available
for your choice!

CEILING SUSPENDED BED HEAD UNITS

ATHOS series

For special placement, when the bed head unit cannot be placed on the wall, it can be otherwise suspended from the roof by a special
aluminium “BR“ profile or hung on the “ΒR“ profiles which are placed from the roof to the floor. Gases and electrical connections are
made through the “BR“ profile. There are three versions: for small loads of trolley (≤80kg), for heavy loads of trolley (80-150kg) and extra
heavy load (>150kg). Those solutions can be used in ICU instead of using ceiling pendant arms.

ROUND - BRIDGE BED HEAD UNITS

AEGEAN series

Bridge Bed Head Unit is an alternative solution for operation theaters instead of ceiling pendants. It is an ideal solution to be used in com-
bination with laminar flow installation. Laminar flow ventilation is used in modern operating theatres to reduce the number of infective or-
ganisms present in the air, which may lead to post-operative wound infection. The bridge Bed Head Unit can also provide easy access to
the various instruments that are needed during an operation, by hanging trolleys that can move along the four sides of the construction.

3.6.7 Aluminum Structural Framing - BR Profile 100
100
BR profile is heavy profile made of thick (up to 7cm) aluminum which comes either elec-
trostatically painted or anodized. Profile “BR” for suspended BHU
This is a smart solution that can be used in various applications. It is mainly used in cases
where the BHU cannot be wall mounted and has to be suspended from the ceiling, but
it can also serve as support for fixing BHUs on the side of this profile. By using a number
of connectors it can virtually support any application or load.
One of the main advantages of this profile is that it combines practicality and aesthetics.
Any structure can be quickly and easily assembled and disassembled even without hav-
ing any special tools or skills. Its channels can also be used for hanging movable equip-
ment. Last but not least, every single profile is reusable and can be adjusted in order to
form a new structure according to the needs of the end user.

Electrical sockets / Data sockets PRODUCT PORTFOLIO

Bed Head Units

The electrical sockets are being installed
on the Bed Head Units and on the Ceiling
Pendant Arms and play a very important
role for the medical staff and also for the
patients. Their importance is crucial be-
cause the medical team must always have
an access to a constant supply of electricity
to connect various monitors, tools and ma-
chines. The white sockets are used for nor-
mal electrical supply, the green for supply
from generator and the red for supply from
UPS. Various types of electrical sockets
could be installed according to different
norms which are posed in each country.
Moreover, special needs (with led indica-
tor, with cap, etc ) may be covered.
The Equipotential sockets are being placed
close to the electrical sockets to protect
the users of various machines and tools
from static.
The Data sockets provide to the users the
ability to have access through them to a
network cabling for data transfer. They are
suitable for connection with telephones,
monitors, etc.

3.7 CEILING PENDANT ARMS
The ceiling pendants for special treatment rooms, are placed on the
ceiling of these rooms, such as intensive care units and operating the-
aters, above the patient’s bed or above the surgical table.
The ceiling pendant has been created for grouping all the necessary
electrical, data and medical gases services, required for use in operat-
ing theaters in anesthetic or surgical rooms and intensive care areas.

3.7.1 Ceiling Pendant for OPT

G. Samaras S.A. ceiling pendants are manufactured and installed according to the
costumer’s specifications to suit a particular location and purpose. The installed position
ensures that the outlets can be placed immediately above the medical equipment or the
anesthetic machine, thereby removing the hazard of trailing hoses and cables.

The ceiling mounted pendant system
is manufactured totally of special
extruded anodized aluminum
profiles or stainless steel and is
electrostatic painted to any desired color.
The ceiling mounted pendant systems
are produced according to ISO 11197,

Ceiling Pendant Arms

I. Pendant arms Vergina

The horizontal motion is made manually with
pendant rotation ability of 330°. Two circling
movement is achieved with the help of cylin-
drical bearing cases. The arms revolve on
high quality bearings so that the technical
box can be moved very smoothly and se-
curely to any position. Horizontal rotation in
two or three axis can also be provided.

The rotation cylinder of the arm comes as
standard with pneumatic brake, for the stabi-
lization of pendant during the rotation in the
desirable place, while head cylinder uses ad-
justable mechanical brake. Pneumatic brakes
are optional and after request.

The telescopical vertical movement is electri-
cal by special actuator (Swiss made Mag-
netic) with lifting capacity from 5.000N to
8.000N/360W.

The carrying capacity depends on the config-
uration (from 80Kgr to 350Kgr).

II. Technical box Makedonia
- head of the pendant arm

In the head of the pendant and in separate
compartments, are installed the terminal
units of medical gases with the correspon-
ding manometers, the electric sockets and
EQ, while around the table exists a special
stainless rail of dimensions 25x10 mm, for the
suspension of various medical appliances
and tools.

For all units, tailor made solutions are offered
with all the necessary equipment.
The pendant can include different elements
(in number and type) depending on the de-
mand.

Βearings - braking system - pneumatic brakes

In each ceiling pendant arm, a bearing with break system is being used. The brake
system can either be with friction or pneumatic using instrumental air to operate.
Both systems ensure the stability and unobstructed movement of the pendant.

Positioning and placement of CP in the OPT

Usually in each OPT we install one pendant arm to be used by the surgeon. This pendant is called Primary S1 and its role is to provide
the surgeon with all the necessary gases and electrical power. This pendant is typically motorized and equipped with 38 side tubes
supporting monitor and instrument shelves. The most commonly used type of pendant is OLYMPIA 06/04.
The OPT is also equipped with a second pendant used by the anesthesiologist. This pendant can either be with or without motorized
movement. The most commonly type of ceiling pendant used in this case is Pella E13 / Thessaloniki E with movement, or Thermi /
Vergina without movement.
In some cases, for the better support of the OPT’s requirements, a third pendant is being installed, which supports mainly the surgeon.
This pendant is optional and is called secondary S2 and can be motorized or non-motorized as well.
All pendants may consist of one or two arms depending on the needs of the OPT. Furthermore, all the equipment installed on them
may differ. The following table describes our proposition for the most appropriate configuration of each type of pendant arm:
On each ceiling pendant various equipment can be mounted using 38 support tubes as shown in section 3.7.3.
Positioning of the pendant arms is decided according to OPT usage.
