Chapter 1: The beginning
The last thing i remember was “the Beginning of our journey and the first
phase we shared “i will always find you”.
Before the world went to hell i had everything, a perfect family, best of
friends, and i had my future set. i had my hopes set on being doctor, now all the
time i used to study seems to have been wasted for nothing. I don't remember my
past , i don't know who i am, but i do know that the world is ending and there's
nothing i can do to save it.
Since everything started and i woke up from my deep slumber i've been on
my own, but ever since I found emma who is a master of disguise and excellent in
hand to hand combat i've actually found hope and think everything can change and
go back to how it was. I remember running out of an ally and seeing emma fighting
off a dozen of walkers with only a knife and her hands , all I could see was bodies
dropping like flies on the ground until she was the only one left. I walked towards
her and asked “ where did you learn how to do that ?” she looked at me like I was
either crazy for even talking her or just nuts for being out in the open without
weapons.
I followed her for what in my book felt like (ages) without saying a word
until we reached an abandoned house where (no one) would ever think to even go
into. “you never answered my question” I asked her “ Why are you so interested in
what i can do? why are still following me? and most importantly how is it that you
have managed to survive without a scratch with no weapons and no training?”. I
decided to tell her all i remember and all I actually knew about the situation which
was little considering the fact i’ve been asleep for weeks. since then she has trained
me shown me everything I need to know about defending myself against those
things, becoming who I am now has been a roller coaster. I've almost died 3 times
in the past 5 months but if it weren't for emma I don't know if I would be here
today.
As me and emma became closer we came to the sense that we need more
alliances in our team that two people can’t take on the world all alone even though
it took a lot to convince emma to let others in like she (let me in) finally got
through her and that's when we decided to go on the search for other survivors.
I think we were on the move for about 4 days without any luck of finding
any sign of life, that is until we came across a suburban neighborhood filled with
mansions where in another world you would only see stuck up rich people. as we
walk being conscious of our surroundings emma stops out of the bloom and tells
me “there's movement in the mansion to your left” I freeze, we start making our
way to the house (i’m a little skeptic of this, i don’t think we should be going into
the house but away from it but i keep quiet and follow emma). we enter the house
and it looks like someone is actually living here i peace with no walkers in the area
just them, the house looks like it has just been cleaned like 5 minutes ago, and the
floors wet (I think to myself who has time to mop and clean when the world is
ending).
Emma tells me “ i'll check upstairs stay down here and check for any useful
supplies, and food you know what i like” I looked at her with an unsettling look
and tell her “ I don't think separating is not such a good idea remember what had
happened the last time we went our separate ways i almost got killed” she just
stood there for a second and told me “stop being such a wuss and go search the
kitchen” she headed up the stairs, as I watched her disappear into the hallway I
hoped that we did not have company, but in my heart I knew we did and I don't
think things were going to get uglier than they already were.
I head over to the kitchen and lucky me I find a bow and a lot of arrows on
the counter, that proved to me that we were not alone I grab the bow and swing the
arrows around my shoulder, I start running to the stairs when i hear emma yell “
RUN!!” but she was too late , the stranger had kicked her leg and wrapped his arm
around her neck, as I struggled to equip the arrow on the string he had a knife to
her neck and i had an arrow pointed at his head, “ so how are we going to play this,
either you guys get out of my house and leave everything you have or i will cut her
throat and you’ll be next”. as I struggled to decide whether I could save emma and
kill the kid i tried to imagine how scared I would be if people were trespassing in
my house during an apocalypse.
Putting myself in his shoes i decide to put the bow down and try to negotiate
with him.
“can we talk or negotiate a way where no one gets their neck stabbed and or gets
an arrow at his head?” I asked “WHAT DO YOU GUYS WANT ?!” he
(screamed), while Emma was struggling in his arm she say’s in agony “ the same
thing everyone else wants Hope and to survive” he looked at her with remorse, I
noticed he was losing his grip and said the safe word me and emma had come up
with in case anything like this happened “triple berry” he looked confused and said
“ what?” and as he asked in confusement emma elbowed him and flipped him over
and took his knife “ guess i'm on the winning edge here” said emma with her
smirky grin that always seemed to freak em out.
“what's your name? how have you survived this long? and why is it that
there's no Zombies around?” emma questioned while holding the knife to his head
“ i won't tell you nothing”he answered with his ridiculous defeated face “don't test
me you little brat i’m not one to play with you either cooperate or get cut you
decide” he looked at her like she was the devil he was actually scared for his life
now and I started to feel the same “ Fine my name is Logan, i have hid in this
house since everything started before there were hundreds of them out there then
they all just vanished like dust like someone had summoned them to another
location” me and emma looked at each other thinking ( is this guy serious right
now does he think we're that stupid). “ listen kid i don't have time for your little
games i'm in a hurry what happened here?!” “ i swear that's all i know” logan
answered hoping that emma would take the knife away from his neck. Emma
looked at him then at me and drew her knife back in her pocket and let him go “ i
wouldn't stay here if i were you there's a bunch of them on our trail i'd move to
another location” “he can come with us” i suggested to both “ are you crazy we
don't know this kid he might be who knows what i don't trust him” “ the feeling is
mutual but if they are coming and they will come then i don't stand a chance and
neither do you so drop the little girl act and think like a survivor not a protector nor
a killer”
Emma looked like she was about to burst but i believe his words made her
think about the situation “alright let's go grab everything you can mostly food and
weapons, do you have any other weapons here besides the bow?” he looked at her
and answered “ of course i do right this way “ when we stepped into that room we
had weapon choices of anything you could dream from throwing knives to swords,
from handguns to snipers, all types of explosive materials emma and i headed
straight for the throwing knives and swords and i got my first official weapon the
name of the sword was imprinted on it and it read (дамоклов меч) i didn't know
what it said i knew it was russian “ hey logan do you know what this says?” “yea it
just says дамоклов меч but i figure you don't know that but it means, sword of
damocles” “ any information on that “ i asked hopefully “ yes the sword means that
something bad might happen or that the carrier carries a deadly virus” “ yup
leaving this right here” “ okay enough chit chat gather your weapons and lets go”
We covered the house and took anything that will come in handy, we
actually didn't know where we were going and hoped that we will soon find
civilization. as we walk we hear some shouting down the street we all take our
weapons out I took out my sword, emma as well and logan his gun. we see this 2
kids getting chased by a mob of walkers , the right thing to do was to help them but
we decided not to get involved I felt really sad but we couldn't afford losing
anyone on our party. We kept walking, and came across 3 dogs “ aww they're so
cute!” emma exclaimed but the glare of the sun started to fade, and the dogs started
to change, their heads broke in half, and teeth grew out of the sides of the body you
could see the moving flesh in their mouth. they all turned to us and started
growling when i got a clear view I realize that this catastrophe doesn't only bring
the dead back to life it also mutated them in horrifying ways. I looked at both
Emma and Logan but maintained my eyes on logan because he isn't trained for
this unlike me and emma we spent weeks training and these things were dangerous.
He stumbled back hesitating whether to stay or run , the dogs got prepared and in a
blink of an eye they charged at us we sprinted all in different direction. they
separated, one following each of us, I went on a car and so did emma but logan
was running toward a building but what surprised me was that he continued to run
toward the wall,he didn't bother to look back it's like he knew exactly where the
dog was he began to run faster, took his gun out and ran on the wall, he was now
upside down in mid air gun locked on the dog Boom! he landed and walked
towards me and emma as the dog behind him fell on the ground lifeless.He had a
smirk he walked towards us like there was nothing going on he stopped and
whistled, both dogs turned to him, he aimed his gun, i could hear the metal in the
gun moving as he shot both dogs right in the center of their mouth, I looked at
emma and just bursted out laughing. “Shut up or you'll attract the neighbors” “Let's
keep moving they should be on the way and these things are getting more more
dangerous by the second” logan demanded.
“when were you planning on telling us that you can fight these things?” I
asked confused and astonished “well you saw all that weapon i had in that house
figured you understood” he answered, “so that neighborhood you killed all those
walkers?” no like I said they just disappeared “so you weren't lying they just
vanished, we have to get to the bottom of this and i know exactly where to start” I
hated when she said (we have to get to the bottom of this).
Chapter 2 : The Truth
Everything was a blur to us we didn't know where we were and how we got
here, we searched the house it was more of a weapons convention than anything
else, the house was filled with all sorts of weapons even one that would get you
arrested just for even owning it Not only was the house full with weapons but with
food that would last us months, and terribly we couldn't stay here we didn't know
what could be following us or what could be inside this house. As I search the top
floor of the house I look out of a window seemed so old but yet so new and happen
to notice the house is surrounded by hundreds of walkers “ of course” I thought to
myself, what really caught my attention was the man standing next to a car
smoking his cigar like the whole world was still as normal as it was, the walkers
they didn't seem to care about the man it was as if he was immune to them like he
invisible.
I rushed down the stairs finding emma and logan eating tacos (which really
confused me on how they even had time to make tacos in 5 minutes), “i'm not even
going to ask” I said while rolling my eyes “ look outside”, at first they didn't seem
to notice the man until they saw the smoke ‘how in the Hell is he even out there !?”
emma asked in surprise and I never seen her this surprised before. “we need to get
his attention” said logan, I looked at him, and replied “No! what is wrong with
you? don't you find it at least a bit weird we wake up in some assassins house, and
there's a man standing out there not moving surrounded by walkers and not
attracting at least one of them?” they both turned and studied me for a second and
decided I was probably right “ what if he's responsible for us being here what if he
had something to do with all of this?”
“ we need to figure out how to get out of here alive and maybe he's the answer”
emma insisted, she was usually stubborn but this was just something we couldn't
argue about.
We occupied ourselves in that house choosing weapons that will fit our
personalities for what seemed to feel like hours in reality we have been stuck there
for about a day and the man had not yet moved he kept smoking and kept watch of
the house, every time I glanced out of the second floor window it's like he knew
that I was watching like he knew we were aware of the situation, and he would
give me an evil smirk that sent chills down my spine. All I could think was (what
do you want from us?). As i continue to stare outside the window suddenly emma
calls “j” (emma calls me “J” since we have yet to find out who i am and nor what
happened to me), “yeah” “comes down stairs we have trouble!” her tone changed
completely. i stared out the window and saw exactly what emma was so worried
about, the walkers they were changing.
Some walkers were normal as usual but others were turning more aggressive
than they usually were, there was one that caught my eyes he was moving
extremely fast for a walker i wouldn't even call it that anymore. I ran down the
stairs and found emma screaming “RUNNN!” we charged out the window and fell
on the ground the man looked startled, when he saw what we were running for he
charged. I was confused on who he was heading for but then i realized that thing
wasn't his target it was a distraction to get us outside, his eyes were fuming with
anger , they almost looked like they were burning from the inside he had his target
set us. He took a sword from his back and struck before it could hit me i
intercepted his attack with my own sword i kicked him in the stomach “ make a run
for it!” i screamed we headed for the street he was right behind us. with dozens and
dozens of walkers on our tail death seemed inevitable. we reached a river and
plunged in the water, we let the current drive us away from the danger.
Logan was freaking out, but we finally got away from all the danger, “ What
just happened back there!?” he exclaimed, “the obvious the world has finally
reached its breaking point people have completely become mad” i explained “ we
have to get moving they will come searching for us and we need to be ready”. We
headed up the hill and came across a road of bodies on the ground, looking back at
what Emma had taught me first impulse in my head was to ignore it, but when I
looked at Emma and Logan they had that look in their eye, the look that signaled
me to keep moving "let's go"they said, we followed the trail of bodies to pond it
was a long swim to the other side where the trail continued, I stoped " were being
watched" I whispered enough for them to hear me " let's turn around now, my
intuition is telling me were being watched let's go this is a trap" Emma looked at
me surprised.(whoosh) an arrow zoomed right across my face passed logan and
straight at Emma's face. Luckily she caught the arrow right before it hit her target
her " RUN!" We started running to the pond when suddenly we see bodies rising
from the water we froze and when we saw their monstrous eyes we ran towards our
other threat.
These walkers were a lot faster then usual walkers they were gaining speed
by the second, I was already out of breath and I could see the dying hope in
Emma's face and the exhaustion in Logan's eyes. We kept running I felt an arm
grab me by the shoulder and we were raptured into a tree dome, we turned around,
as we got to our feet, arrows passed us and pierced the walkers bodies until all of
more than 20 walkers were lifeless on the ground. We turned around, and saw
enough arrows to kill a whale pointed at us " how did you guys get here? How did
you find our hide out?!" Asked one of the adults " listen we were pursued by an
incredible amount of walkers and a crazed man who seemed to be immune to the
walkers sense of smell we barely got out of there alive, we got dragged by the
river's current until we reached the shore that had a trail of bodies that lead here
that's how we got here, now can you just put those bows down before someone
gets hurt?" Explained logan.
"A trail of bodies huh? ANGEL! GET IN HERE!" He exclaimed " what did
I do now?" " our guest have told us there was a trail of bodies that lead here
anything you want to say" he asked looking at angel like a meal " dad I need to
have fun I can't be stuck in this tree for the rest of my life ok I need to learn to kill
and defend myself so yes I killed all those walkers" explained angel who seemed to
not enjoy his actions being questioned. " go back to what you were doing" " okay
see y'all" said angel as he disappeared into the hallway. "Why in the hell did you
shoot an arrow at my face I for care who it was I just wanna know why you would
shoot a survivor?!" Exclaimed Emma who was still pretty upset about them
sending an arrow at her head, " sorry about that precautions are necessary when
your family's life is on the line" he exclaimed " I believe we haven't introduced
ourselves my name is Ryan, this is my wife Roberta, my sister Danielle, and my
son angel and you guys are", " we'll my name is Emma, he's Logan and...." Emma
was explaining as I interrupted her " we don't know who I am or who I was before
all of this happened I don't know my name so for now we just call me (j)" "okay j
well are you guys hungry?" He offered politely "are you kidding I've been dying
for something to eat what are you offering " Logan asked hoping it was something
amazing.
The family took us in like we were long family friends putting aside the fact
they tried to kill us. Emma was asking them when they had built this house of
course I wouldn't know what time or day that was considering the fact I've been
asleep for like 10 months almost a year and wake up to this cruel dying world.
Angel gave me a tour of the house being the youngest and me with the features of a
17 year old we bonded almost immediately, looking at the house it surprised me
that a tree could be built into something like this.
i was having trouble concentrating on what angel was talking about, i was
more occupied trying to understand the visions i was having i didn't know what i
was seeing or hearing “come on let's go” the visuals in my head laughed and ran on
a sandy beach with beautiful waves with people disappearing into the water, it was
beautiful. i couldn't help but think this was the life i had but i don't remember any
of the people i was seeing, i tried to talk but nothing came out. “j, are you okay is
something wrong” angel asked worried by the expression on my face “ yea i'm fine
just a little dizzy” i responded in a shaky tone in my voice.
“ hey You guys awake?” logan asked as he stared out of the window his
face expression said all he was thinking, “ i can't sleep either” i replied “ me three,
i think we should get a move on tomorrow morning” emma responded and
suggested “ i agree we can't stay here it's not our home and i don't wanna be a
burden to these incredible family” i agreed, i glanced at logan and he nodded “ so
tomorrow we part to our destination” emma concluded “ may i ask where exactly
are we headed?” i asked now starting to noticed i had no idea where emma was
taking us to “ we will know when we get there” she answered “alright well wake
me up when you guys wake up” logan yawned as he fell into his slumber. “ Emma
what do you think is going to happen to us when we get to where ever we are
headed” i asked “ i don’t know (I) don't know but have hope and go to sleep you
will need all your energy tomorrow we have a long way to go”.
i awaken to a riot in the tree dome, all i hear is screaming and tramplin, i
look to the floor logan is there, i look to my left emma's there “ emma, logan wake
up” i call them “ Few more minutes” emma said still 75% asleep “ logan noticed
the noise and shot right, emma noticed after a few seconds i believe she was
processing the noise but who knows what goes on in her head
“What's all that noise” emma finally asked “ i don't know but i don't wanna have
to wait and find o…” Angel came in flying through the door like if a dog was
chasing him, i rushed for my gun, angel had his bow aimed and emma had her
knives “ angel what's going?” i asked in astonishment “HOW SHOULD I KNOW
THEY'RE AFTER YOU!!!” angel answered in a very intense voice
i looked at emma and she gave me the (we need to go, like now!) look she always
gave me when something bad was on the way “we need to go now! angel where
are your parents?” “ DIED because of you !” emma's face changed “ Let's Go”.
Chapter 3: APOCALYPSE
“KEEP MOVING!!” was all i could hear while we kept running for our
lives, we had thought the danger was over but once again we were fighting for
survival. “I have to go back, i have to get my Parents! exclaimed Angel, his face
expression said it all, he was still processing the death of his parents. “You can’ go
back there's nothing to go back to, We need to keep moving you have to forget”
Logan yelled as we fought our way to the river we had washed up on. Angel froze
on the shore of the river, i looked back and immediately saw those things closing
in, Emma looked at angel “we need to go i promise we will find a way to avenge
your parents but we need to go NOW!” angel just stared in silence and i knew he
was about to explode, i grabbed his hand and we all plunged in the water.
The river's current was still as violent as the last time we had to swim in it,
as we were dragged by the current all walkers stopped at the edge of the water i got
a glimpse of their eyes and i felt like they were about to pierce through my soul but
as we kept moving they disappeared one by one behind the trees until we couldn't
see them any more and all we could see was the smoke of an explosion.
we have been in the river for over an hour i was already starting to feel
drowsy and nauseous from being dragged by the river i look over my shoulder and
see were headed straight for a waterfall, i immediately turn around “GUYS” emma
looked back we all started panicking i didn't know whether kicking was the right
option or moving to side, but when i looked over at angel he just had given up he
had nothing to live for any more was what his eyes were telling me. we couldn't get
out of the river there was nothing for us to hold onto we were going down and
there was nothing we could do “so this is how it ends” screamed emma “ i didn't
think i'd go out like this, well it was nice knowing y'all” angel was just listening
and out of nowhere he snatched an arrow and logan's bow tied the arrow to a rope
from his bag and said “ Shoot at the tree Now!” logan didn't hesitate he shot the
arrow, it went right through the tree We grabbed the rope and we started pulling
ourselves out of the water hoping slowly but surely we would get out of this. As
only i was left i kept trying to pull myself but the water just kept fighting back i
wasn't sure whether i'd be able to pull through….. i felt a short snap on the rope i
noticed that it was starting to break i had to think rapidly before i got carried away
with the water as the broke emma tried to grab my hand but by the time she had
noticed i was already being dragged by the water.
Emma, Logan, and Angel all raced after me on the shore, i saw emma's
worried look but i couldn't figure out why exactly she looked like that ,as i tried to
turn around i heard rumbling and crashing, when i finally managed to look back i
saw a waterfall at least 100 feet fall i started scouting for anything that i could hold
on to but there were just rocks that with the slightest touch rolled along with the
current. i thought they would be able to find something but they were just standing
on the edge looking down, i knew emma was crazy enough to jump after me but i
didn't want her too. i stared at the end of the river and my whole new life flash
before my eyes.
“AAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!” i screamed and kicked while i trampled down the
waterfall for a second i thought this was the end of me but i was still pretty high
up and a thought came to me, “come on i told myself think” i dove down the
waterfall and mixed in with the water i started gaining speed, my body started
swirling in the water, for a second i thought of myself as a torpedo, but then realize
what the real problem was i closed my eyes as i was beginning to get dizzy and
reach the bottom(SPLASHH!) i sunked into the water the impact was
harsh and painful the current carried me underwater i almost passed out when i felt
an arm grab me and pull me out. i coughed up water for like a good 10 seconds i
cleaned my eyes and saw an old man standing over me i quickly backed up in
fright “you don’t have to fear me, i’m not going to hurt you” he plead and smiled.
Chapter 4: Redemption
“Are you hungry young man” he asked me “where am i, where's Emma, and
logan ?” i asked in panic “ i don't seem to recall people swimming with you,
besides there was no one else around but me to help you out, you would have died
if it wasn't for me” he told me i looked at him in surprise realizing that emma
should be here by now “ I should get a move on, i need to regroup with my friends,
thank you for your help, be careful, and don’t let those things get anywhere near
you” he looked at me like he wanted to say something but all he said was “you’re
very welcome, i'm sure our paths will meet again, Ling lee is my name, now be on
your way and be careful (everything is not what it seems nowadays).
As i left ling lee’s House and headed towards the cliff i had fallen off, i
looked back he was just staring at me while smiling which really creeped me out
but i just kept walking. i came to the cliff and started climbing. the water was
making everything so hard to get a hold of. i managed to reach the top to my
surprise they were gone, Angel, Emma, And logan have left without me.i saw
footprints and headed the way they were pointing.
ELSEWHERE………..
“ WE ARE NOT LEAVING WITHOUT HIM, WE HAVE TO GO
BACK!!!” I Exclaimed “ emma i don't think (I) survived that fall, no one could
survive a fall that high not even (J)” said Logan “ Logan You know Damn Right
what He's Capable of we are going back and if you guys don't want to come fine by
me I'll find him my self” explained emma as she stormed off into the woods “Wait
emma” yelled Angel “ let's think about this, if i did survive he might have found
shelter we should try to look” suggested angel “ Or We can go back to the cliff
where he fell at, i remember Precisely telling him (J) if anything ever happens go
back to where it happens never go somewhere you don't remember seeing and if
it's over run then run the other way find high ground and shelter and don't move!
got it). so that's the reason why it is imperative for me to return to that waterfall
cliff, i know he came back and, i know he's looking for me i can't let him down not
again”.
“What do you mean again?” Asked Logan his face expression confused me i
could not explain to them what had happened i needed to come up with something
that could change the subject, “we have more serious manners than to talk about
something that happened months ago, we need to find logan and focus on that can
we go now he must be waiting”.
(we have been walking for what seemed to be hours, but that's only because i
was in a hurry to find (J) and me being in a hurry makes things a lot worse for me).
“Em..?” asked angel “ yesss..?” i responded curiously because he rarely
spoke to anyone but himself at night, he was a really conservative kid. “Are we
going the right way and second are we going to die ?” “ (laughing i said ) Yes we
are going the right way and no we are not going to die bec” Suddenly i felt a
sharp pain in my shoulder, like a blade had just pierced my skin i made a short cry
and turned to see an arrow deep within my shoulder (woosh) another arrow came
flying i managed to see where it was coming from, it was a woman and her kid.
logan and angel had already taken cover i managed to take cover behind a tree and
pull out the arrow. “Emma you okay?” asked logan “ yea i'm fine we got to get rid
of her” “on it” smiled logan “ give me the arrow” i tossed him the arrow he quickly
tied it to a stick and swiftly turned around and launched the spear straight at her
chest. her daughter quickly ran towards us we were really confused until we
noticed why she was running “COME BACK HERE!( AHHH!!!!!) GET HER”
there were about 30 men chasing her she was running as fast as she could “
HELP!!” she cried angel quickly changed gears started shooting but the men had
reflectors so guns were no use. she finally managed to reach us with the men on
her tail we ran and kept running, i saw blood on the floor and that didn’t look like
normal human blood i quickly ran as the other followed in the direction of the
blood we ran for what seemed to be hours but was actually 10 minutes.
We managed to lose them within the trees , once we were sure to be safe i
decided to confront the little girl about her mother, “why did your mom try to kill
me?” “well hey my name is Amina Nice weather we're having, and you are” she
responded with a tone “ Child We just saved your ass don’t even” responded angel
with a very annoyed tone “ Well you did save my life but you did kill my mother”
“ in self defense you whiny Little brat, i should have killed you both the second i
had the chance, oh yeah i can still end you” “ You wouldn't dare, you do that and
you will never find your little friend J” She replied with a smirk. We looked at her
in surprise None of us could say anything “Well see me and my Mother had been
following you guys for like what seems to be forever, i know exactly where j is and
i know exactly who and what he is, you end me you will never know anything
about him” “ What do you know about him tell me!” i replied while grabbing her
by the shirt “woah back off did, you get to know who he is exactly when he finds

We seemed to be walking for ages but we were walking towards a tree that i
had noticed like 2 hour ago and still following the trail of blood i stared and
thought for a second could that be j’s blood “Don't worry it's not his, it's the blood
of a wounded hound” she confirmed as she walked. when we finally reached the
point of no return she quickly ducked down “ I knew it's a trap” “ Shut up it's not”
when we realize that it was not we were surprised to see j surrounded by a horde of
zombies surrounding him on top of the tree “we need to get him out of there now”
Chapter 5:RESURRECTION
I had lost all hope i had, there were way too many undead for us to kill them
all. I felt responsible for this i felt like all of it was my fault i have grown fond of j i
felt something for him just something i've never felt before in my heart. i finally
snapped out of it and charged towards the zombies but instantly froze as i saw
undead dropping one by one “What the….” i didn't even see what was happening
all i remember was seeing all the bodies on the floor 30 feet away from me and j
running towards me and amina's head on a stick in front of j, and last thing my
mind processed was me getting whacked in the head with something
I woke up hazy and confused my head was pumping and my heart was
racing tied up with chains. i quickly scouted the room for something to use and saw
the keys lying 15 feet away on the floor, i slowly started moving towards them i
managed to grab them after 5 minutes of crawling. “HELP!” a scream came from
the other side of the room i started to panic it sounded like angel i quickly started
to rush the keys onto the lock, I managed to unlock it and rushed to the barred
door. My hands felt weak and the bars were extremely cold the rubble underneath
my feet were really rough. i saw the others i skimmed through looking for j and
found him. i was looking for amena, i thought everything that happened was a
dream but then i realize it was reality, I was bummed out that didn't get to know
amina's big secret towards j’s existence.
“Emma are you okay?” shouted logan from the other side “ i'm fine is
everyone else good” “ yea we are all fine where are we though” asked logan “ this
looks very familiar, this looks like the megalithic ruins in russia yes they are, i
remember from the tour were in russia.” i explained to them quickly about how i
knew where we were “how in the hell did we get from california all the way to
russia” “ i don't know but we have to figure away out of here i can't begin to
imagine who ever took us here what they are going to do to us….. shhhhhhhh”
suddenly i heard footsteps towards our direction i saw a shadow, and i got back to
my chained up position”, i heard high heels something i haven't heard in a long
time, it sounded like a clock (tik, tok, tik , tok , tik tok) until a women came in.
“Hello emma, logan, angel, and i've been informed you are j. i've been hoping you
would come around, we have been expecting you, your special j more special then
you give yourself credit for” I looked at j just sprung up “WHAT DO YOU WANT
WITH US? WHY DID YOU BRING US HERE?!” i yelled “Shut up you arrogant
little girl we have no use for you, but we couldn't let you get in the way of our
plans, see we need your friend here in order to fix all of this, all this mess has to be
cleaned up by the person who started it all right” she responded as she looked at j. I
heard other footsteps “ who's that, who else is behind this?” “you’ll find out soon
enough, toodles” she waved and as she left the a man entered, didn't even say a
word just went straight for j who was still knocked out “ HEY LEAVE HIM
ALONE!” i yelled as he dragged him out of the room and i was there yelling by
myself. it felt like i have been yelling for hours untill gas came from one of the
vents and knocked us out again.
(Meanwhile)
I started waking up i felt confused a dizzy i heard people talking “we need more
time he's not ready he can't perform such a complicated procedure” “ listen i don't
care get him ready i need everything exactly how it was i won't let a stupid kid get
in the way of my work capish?” what are they talking about i thought to myself i
have not done anything to ruin any ones plans or have i? “ wake up you fool we
need to get you out of here” i plunged out of the chair as the woman had spoke she
backed up quickly making sure she didn't get hit as i broke from the straps and
sprinted to what seemed to be an open hallway, that was until i got knocked onto
the ground “what the…”. “ Bravo mr.j i would have thought you would have been
smarter than to trust a stranger or may i say someone you thought was capable of
helping you “i'm sorry i thought we had enough time i was only tr…” shock he
broke her neck i saw her body fall flat on the floor “ what do you want with me?” “
what I want with you is something you will soon figure out, in the meantime let's
get something straight, you created this and it's Time for you to solve what you've
ruined, enough said guards take him away!" I wa thinking about what he was
talking about I don't remember doing anything, confused and disoriented I thought
to myself does he know me from the past or is this just a sick game to him . as i was
pulled away out of the room i could hear them arguing, yelling, and upsetting tones
that occurred as i vanished into the dark hallway.
Chapter 6: THE MYSTERY GIFT
“Emma, you up?” i whispered, but heard no answer, i sat back and pushed against
the wall suddenly i felt the wall move, i have totally forgot how old this place was.I
pushed the wall a little more, and the rocks started to crumble, emma in the other
cell woke up and quickly ran to the cell, while everyone was mesmerized with the
wall coming down we had totally forgot about those responsible for us being stuck
in here. “ Guys push the wall !” quickly everyone kicked, pushed, and punched the
wall until we were able to get out. “ guys we have no weapons, we do have an
advantage which is me i know this place like the palm of my hand but only thing
that worries me is that they might have already prepared for anything we do” “ it
doesn't matter, we are prepared we trained for this type of things we can handle it”
“mmm guys shouldn't we be running instead of giving inspirational speeches?”
angel sarcastically commented. we ran for a while and came across a field of
geysers, “guys be careful back when the world was intact i learned that the cause
for these things is temperature, this hot weather is not working for us today”.
We walked down the hill into the field of geysers and tried not to step too hard on
the ground. BOOM! one of them erupted i know it wasn't us when we looked back
it was them they were on motorcycles driving towards us full speed, we started
running, i was running out of breath but i still managed to keep running. i looked
back and all i could do was yell “ FASTER!” they were gaining on us and one had
a rocket launcher, somehow we managed to keep ahead and not get caught but they
soon grew tired of our games and the first rocket was fired. my heart was pumping
as rockets came flying towards us.i turned around and a rocket was right in my face
i don't know what came over me i grabbed the rocket and it just dropped to the
ground like the energy have been sucked out of it and i suddenly felt stronger faster
and out of nowhere a flash of light just appeared before my eyes it circled around
me and it flew towards our enemies destroying rockets and their source. the doctors
who were treating me managed to stay alive they looked scared but they had no
idea how i was feeling. i don't know how i did what i did and i have a feeling that
my friends were thinking the same thing.
We kept running for hours until there was no other sign of humans but us.
“Who are you ? matter of fact do i even know what you are?” emma exclaimed as
she backed away from me scared and confused. “ i don't know you think i asked
for this my life has been a wreck since i woke up from that comma i don't know
what was done to me, better than fact i don't even know who i am my self you
think i want this you think i chose to be what or who i am no so start believing in
what i tell you and that is that i don't know who i am and you know i need your
help to figure that out”
“does anyone know where we are?” asked angel trying to change the conversation
“for sure we are still in russia” replied logan. as we kept walking we came to a hill
looking down and what we saw could be our escape “ planes we can leave “ angel
jumped in excitement “question is do we know how to fly it “ i asked “ yes we do
actually my dad taught me when i was like 12 it's fun” emma explained.
As we climbed down the hill we saw a beach and beach means water, Salt water
but still water and most importantly fish. "Guys we found food and a way out of
here " (clink) we heard the plane doors shut (shreesh) we heard footsteps, we all
got together in a circle and aimed our guns "who's there !" I yelled "we can hear
you " the person stepped out feet first but as he started to come out we saw blood
what we thought was human was one of them. "Everybody stay still" Emma
suggested "why would we stay still that's the worst idea" said logan " no listen he
doesn't notice us just stop talking" she explained, and she was right the undead
thing didn't even notice our existence it just walked by like we were one of them.
Minutes passed and the monster was gone, "out of sight , out of mind " logan
whispered we walked around for a little and came to find a camp an abandoned
camp that seemed to have just been used. I could feel the air calm, and soothing but
something was off there was a smell, the smell of death "what's is that smell" I
asked "the wind is blowing north so that means is coming from that direction" said
angel as he point to a hill, we walked up and came to a dump a dump of human
bodies " what is all of this " I asked scared and confused
" i don't know but we don't have time to figure it out we need to go now "
Emma stated I know she was right but I just couldn't help but wonder who was
responsible for this " ok let's go " we walked over to a white jet, and while Emma
checked for gas the rest went inside to make sure it was safe " all clear" we all
screamed from inside as we finalized our search with no success of life in the plain
but us. Emma took charge and went to the pilot room " let's wrap it up ladies " she
yelled as we wrapped up our search,we heard a screech I ran down to the back and
looked out the window and saw this beast looking animal the size of a house, with
a read mark on his head charging towards" step on it that thing looks angry " I
yelled.
Emma quickly reacted and we started to move I ran to the back to look out
of the window and as expected the beast was following us it was quickly gaining
speed and it wa not giving up. All I could think off was the word faster , as we
started gaining altitude I could have sworn the beast latched on to us but all I saw
was the beast trying to catch us, struggling to land on it's feet to jump back and get
us. I walked back to the front “what was that thing” asked angel “i don't know it
sort of looked like a dog, but it wasn't, it seems like this virus is not only bringing
back the dead it mutating them in horrifying ways” logan looked at me “ ok what is
this a promo for a movie” we all laughed “ i'm going to go check on emma you
guys get some rest we are going to need it”. “where exactly are we going?” i
looked back and looked at them “i have no idea”. I headed over to the pilot room
but right outside i saw a note at the bottom of the floor “J go in” i looked around
and saw the bathroom door, i walked in (uh) ‘ what in the world is this”
Chapter 7:Hiding
“What now emma?” i asked “we just keep heading south while you guys
were checking the plain i heard people calling telling us that there is a safe place to
go somewhere the virus has not reached yet”. i looked at her “ no not possible the
world has been terminated by these things there's no way……” i choked for a
second “unless the biological gene of the virus wasn't prepared for the temperature
change, maybe we can beat this thing, maybe we don't need to fight anymore to
end this”. she shaked her head “No we cannot choose the easy way they must pay
for what they done those who murdered our families our friends and those we
loved most have to pay for what they did if it wasn't for them those loved ones
would still be here. So don't you say we can beat this thing and we need to stop
fighting”. “Are you serious we have been looking for a way out and now that we
finally found one you want me to stop and fight i ca” she cut me off “stop
talking” she whispered “no why “ no seriously stop talking” i saw the worried look
on her face “ look outside “ we were passing over california “what the hell” was all
i could say, as i looked all i saw was fire and destruction i could see little things
running around “this is where the radio transmission came from, the radar is telling
me i'm exactly over it i don't get it what's going on here”.
“Guys!” i rushed as i heard angel scream. there was one of those things in
the plain how did it get inside it wasn't bothering them it was just pacing in place “
what is this” i didn't respond i didn't know what was going on anymore. “ok just
stay still and don't engage with it “
i went back to emma “we have a situation one of those things somehow got passed
us and got in the plain”. she set the plain to land. Few minutes later we were on the
ground and the plain stopped i didn't even know where we landed but we ended up
in the airport of cali “ok let's go” we walked out of the pilots room and they were
gone “ANGEL!, LOGAN!” we yelled but there was no answer”there's no sign of
them" i looked out the window and saw them turn into the side of the building with
the walker “ let's go” i grabbed my gun and ran out the jet. we managed to catch up
with them but didn't make any noise we wanted to see what they were up to.
" Angel this is wrong we shouldn't be doing this " logan whispered, angel shoved
him "shut up the faster we do this, the faster we can get out of here" a few minutes
passed as they talked and argued "okay fine let's just get this over with they are
probably looking for us already" logan took out a cellphone and called Someone "
okay we have the test subject get us out of here....... ok we'll wait".
Logan hangs up the phone and puts it away "they will be here in 10 minutes just
keep calm we'll be safe sooner than later".
I couldn't take it anymore "What the hell do you think you're doing?!" They
both gasped " you shouldn't be here this is not your concern go away!" Exclaimed
angel, all I wanted to do was punch him in the face but we had no time for that "
look we didn't come all this way for nothing who the hell are you working for and
what are you up to ?"i asked determined to know what they were up to, he looked
at me and replied " please just go back, as hard as it it to believe we are trying to
save you it's not my intention for you to get caught you need to go now you're
wasting time they are coming and they will stop at nothing to kill you" I wasn't
listening as logan explained how he was trying to save me all I wanted was
answers " look I ......" A car came rushing towards us Four. The car stopped
instantly and as quickly as it stopped armed men withdraw from the car aiming
guns at me and Emma "woah, woah let's not be drastic okay put the guns down we
can settle this like normal people, laughs just messing with you, well well hello
Emma and look who she brought along the the most wanted in dead nation"
"Emma what is he talking about, who is that ?" I asked Emma all she did was look
at me as quickly looked up. Quickly I realized I had been with a bunch of traitors
this whole journey I started walking backwards slowly but Emma quickly grabbed
my hand "I'm sorry j there was nothing I could do, they have my family they have
my sister the only thing I have left in the world " "don't you touch me you
weakling I could have believed and handled them being traitors but you i would
have never thought you could be so evil" " and that's why she was the perfect
clever you were so naive about her and you surviving together that you missed
every opportunity to realized she was a fraud, she is the reason for your demise,
and now you will suffer the consequences of friendship."
"Not if I can help it!" A voice came from every spot in the building,
everyone was startled, I took that opportunity to the advantage and ran "get him
and find that girl " was all I heard as I disappeared around the corner out of
nowhere I'm boosted up 20 stories high and land on my feet next to a beautiful girl
" you're welcome" she told me as all I could do was stare " thank you, but who are
you?" She looked at me and laughed " me well I'm your sister silly."
Chapter 8: Impossible Love
I was shocked , confused and mad but with all that I was happy I finally might
have found someone who knows me from my past "what makes you think I can
believe you?" She laughed "well i Know you can't last more than 10 minutes
without checking your hand for that ring mom gave you when we were little, I
also know that you believe in magic and that love and friendship can solve any
problem "
I smirked "okay I know that I do believe In that but it doesn't prove anything "

then how and why did we get separated what happened when this all started" I
asked curious of my mysterious past "when this all started we were not in the best
shape our family it was being hunted for God knows what, and we all got separated
I've been searching hiding out here for the past months so I don't really know what
happened to you but I will find a way to help you remember "
I don't know what it is but I feel like I can trust her, i feel the way i felt with
emma but it's different this girl may be my sister, but i couldn't let my weakness
cloud my judgement i had to watch my back for some reason everybody wants me
dead and i don't know why.
“so if you're my sister what's my name?” i asked hoping that finally i might
have an answer “you really don't remember, and how rude don't you wanna know
my name?” “ yes” i responded “my name is scarlett and your name is……. Shhh” i
was confused “ my name is shhh? what, what kind of name is shh?” she looked at
me and i could see it in her eyes she really meant to be quiet.
I heard footsteps and men scattering around “ stay here” she whispered “ the
hell i am” i followed she wasn't going to stop me so she just ignored it and kept
going. From two stories down down we heard men shouting, and planning “okay
everybody listen up these 2 are very dangerous and will attack on sight so no
matter the cause shoot to kill” they were planning to kill us “ okay get ready we
need to evacuate grab anything of use and don't hold back no matter who it is run
ok” we grabbed weapons food anything that could help us and i noticed keys i
jammed them in my pocket and ran.
Running out of air i kept pushing myself i felt like i was going to pass out,
and that's when the adrenaline kicked in i felt unstoppable incredible and i felt like
i could run forever. We managed to reach the car we jammed everything and
started the car. We were far enough to slow down so we did,”are you okay?” “yeah
i'm fine” she answered. It was silent for a while i have been wanting to ask her who
i was “ So now that we're far enough answer my question, who am i what's my
name and where do i come from?” she sighed “ let's start with your name , your
name is Riley, Riley Hope so now you don't have to be called J anymore” finally i
knew who i was, but one thing was still unsure to me why is everyone trying to kill
me why does everyone want me.
We were on the road for almost 5 hours we come along an old cabin it was
in the middle of nowhere “ where here” i looked at her “ remind me what are we
doing here” she looked at me and laughed “ you'll see”. We walked into the cabin,
we were unarmed which i found extremely dangerous, once we were in the cabin it
looked exactly like a cabin nothing new until the floor opened and an elevator
came out “until you tell me what this is i'm not going anywhere” she looked
annoyed i didn't care i was not about to get kidnapped again. “ this is a hitech
underground facility where important people have gathered to find a cure, i found
the cure for this mess” i jumped in excitement but realizing she had nothing in her
hand, i figured i was the cure “i'm the cure aren't i?” she looked at me and again
laughed “ you wish you were the cure” “so where is it then?” i asked “ we don't
know exactly the location where is at nut those people that you have been traveling
with they want to destroy the cure, they created the v virus, a biogenetic formula
that reanimates the human brain with one goal ,and one goal only to eat anything
living that comes their way, these zombies are not like the ones in old movies these
are real, they are faster stronger and a lot more arrogant” as she finished telling me
how dangerous these things have become in the past few months we reached the
lower ground.
we were in that elevator for almost 10 minutes, the doors open up and in the
previous month i have not seen so much people in the color white. “Agent hope
have you gathered the intel on the location of the vvirus cure?” Asked one of the
men in white as we walked out of the elevator “ No but i did find something a lot
more value at the moment, my brother for some reason the people we have been
fighting off for the past months want my brother either dead or alive” the scientist
had a panic look in his eyes he sighed “we have to follow procedure you know the
drill” as he finished talking 2 men grabbed me from behind, while a lady with
silver eyes, injected a needle in my skin.
Some type of serum traveled through me, my body shuddered like i was
having a seizure “ all clear!” yelled the lady “sorry about that Riley i’m DR.
Jenniss” “ what the hell did you just inject me with?” she looked startled “it's just
an antibiotic it heightens your genes enough to make sure if you die you don't
come until 24 hours instead of 5 minutes” “what ensures you that i’m gonna die” i
was a little upset that she would think i would die. we were interrupted by a tall
woman she looked upset and began speaking “Okay ladies, and gentlemen if you'll
excuse me i have some newly found evidence about the cure, at least someone has
been earning their dinner Roger will you care to share what you have found” as she
finished i see a boy he looked almost 15 years old, he looked wimpy, almost like a
puny human being “ ok so by tracking down our last contact with the cure carriers i
managed to find an approximate location of where the cure could be “ the tall lady
looked infuriated she grabbed him by the neck “ you lying little pest! you told me
you had an exact location how dare you lie to me!” I was outraged “ Let him go!” i
yelled she dropped him instantly “who dares interrupt me?” i walked forward “ i
did, how dare you treat this kid like he's one of those things” she smirked “always
had the attitude since the first encounter”.
She disappeared into the darkness while looking back at me her eyes were
piercing through my soul i could feel her staring at me when she was out of sight.
“Who is that woman?, and why does she give me the creeps?” Scarlett started
giggling “she's our headmaster, she built this underground facility incase anything
like this ever happened, and hand picked all these people way before any of this
happened”. “So she somehow knew this would happen eventually, did she have
something to do with it? with the outbreak”. She looked at me and nodded no in
silence “we don't know who started this but when we do figure it out…….it's game
on”.
Chapter 9: Child's Play
(4 Weeks Earlier)
“We need to get you out of here it's not safe for you, Logan you need to find
j and let him know why we had to do what we did you need to find him and tell
him the truth about everything”. “Emma i can't leave you here not with them you
can't do this all alone” she looked at me “i want you will be with me along the way
but you have to go just go and find him and no matter what make him believe, and
take angel with you, find him and make him go”. Angel came running into the
room alarms pounding in our ears “we need to get out of here now!” i stood up
“Me and you need to go emma will stay and cover for us, but we need to go now¨ I
was starting to panic ¨ Angel GO!¨ Emma Screamed, we ran down the hall trying
to stay hidden from the guards, the alarms were still ringing, we kept running
nonstop until we reached the hover crafts, we started to slow down until a horde of
zombies came from the other side of the room.
¨There are way too many of them we can't fight through¨, ¨ yes we can’t just
run, here use this, cut off the head don’t stop for nothing¨ angel was different he's
been different since j was taken from us he has become a rebel. He took out 12
zombies in a matter of seconds i barely had time to react ¨ Hey stop Right there!¨
we ran towards the hovercraft, Angel was already inside stating it up the doors
closed as the guards grew near, they banged on the door over and over telling,me
they lasted 5 minutes as the hovercraft warmed up, then the noise started to cease i
opened the door and there was blood everywhere and the bodies were gone.
Quickly i closed the door and the hovercraft started rising into the air. I walked
slowly thinking about what i would say to j when i saw him, how i would explain
everything that happened.
(Present Day)
“Riley Hope, Please find your way to the control unit, Riley hope, Please
find your way to the control unit” i was surprised because after having been here
for 2 days almost everyone knows my name. I walked into the control unit, it was
filled with tv screens each showing very angle of cameras that were installed in,
and outside the facility i felt like i was being watched every second, as i stopped in
the middle of the room the headmaster walked out off a door that read “accès
restreint” French for “Restricted access”, she had a long white dress that revealed
one of her legs as she walked towards me.
“ Mr.Hope i have called you here today to assign you a mission” “and what
may that be” she gave me a smirk “ that is for you to figure out, just know that the
life of the one you loved will be the life that you will take with you to the ground”
Confused but aware of what she was talking about i corrected her “ I have never
loved anyone, not in this life, not in my lost life and next in the next one, i cannot
risk being hurt” her smirk quickly faded but she stole back at me “ Love is
wonderful thing and it can overcome anything, you see this world, is quickly dying
in flames and while you're busy trying to figure out your past others are busy trying
to destroy what you might have”. The room quickly became quiet as everyone
gazed towards us.
“Don’t you people have work to do”she snapped, immediately everyone
rushed to get back to work. i was not feeling the conversation anymore “ can i be
excused now” she nodded, and i as turned and walked away she whispered 5
words to me “ You love what you hate”, i speeded up the paste and dispersed into
the hallways. I couldn't stop thinking about Emma,, Logan and Angel, and the fact
that she was right i did love them but i hated them, they betrayed me and broke my
trust i should want them dead but i can't afford to think like that, they are the
closest thing i have to a real family. Scarlett is my sister but she is also in the mist,
she doesn't know how any of this started but one thing she has is memories, and
that's exactly what i need , if what i have been told is true and they have been
monitoring me , then they must know about me more then they say and i will get
that information one way or another.
Chapter 10: Hells Triumph
I awoke the next morning i felt weird, my gut was telling me today was not
going to be a normal day, the sky was gray and the atmosphere felt gloomy it
looked like it was going to be a rainy day. I couldn't sleep anymore, i got ready and
went out of my dormitory i went up to the roof and spaced out looking at the pitch
black sky. “ Are you ready, today we have a very important mission to accomplish
today we are one step closer to finding a cure for the vvirus, we are one step closer
to redemption” those where the words that accompanied scarlet as she walked
behind me and stood by my side.
i stood there not saying a word, i looked at her “ how did mom and dad die?”
i asked, she turned pale and i could see the tears in her eyes forming “i don’t know
riley, i don't know” was all she could say.
Hours passed and whispers about the cure were spreading around, my room
began to shrink as the bell rang signaling everyone to suit up, people were rushing
to their stations as if we were going to war, i took my time, thinking about
everything that has happened, for a moment i paused, and even though people were
running i saw a lady she was holding her hand out at me at the end of the hall, i
stared for a while until she started walking towards the hall to her right. She looked
so familiar but i had no idea who that could be, my mind was starting to play
games and i started hearing someone call my name “ Riley, can you hear me ?.
Riley are you ok? Riley!” i snapped out of it and scarlett was standing next to me
furiously waiting to pounce. “ I’m so….” she cut me off and whispered “ Let's go”
she was mad at me and i had no clue why.
“Ok Soldiers we are here because we might have just found a cure for this
virus. We can not depend on God, we can not depend on mom and dad, or our big
brother and sisters, now we are each others family and we must survive this
together” she took a break and began speaking again “Today we will bring this to
an end, Scarlett ,and riley will lead the strike team into the field, anyone on your
team must follow any commands if you get trapped and or left behind it is your job
to catch up. Remember this is very risky and it's likely some of you will die”
people started to whisper, i heard some of them change their minds, they didn’t
want to go on the mission anymore. I tried to ignore and look at the positive side “
you really think we can pull this off?” i asked scarlett “if we try we will” she
answered.
We marched our way up the spiral staircase that delivered us to the the roof,
i stood at the edge and stared into the army of undead, their eyes felt like needles
poking me every second, I snapped out of it. I stood still as the hovercraft that
carried the soldiers willing to put their lives at risk to give humanity one last stand.
10 minutes seemed to pass quickly, Scarlett had gone on ahead with the first part of
the group to make sure they stayed in the safe house, while i stayed behind to
facilitate the rest. The hovercraft returned, I quickly gathered everyone and, we
were soon reunited with the rest of the group.
“Did you paige the headmaster yet” i asked scarlett as the last of the soldiers
stepped out, “yes she says to report to her as soon as we have any type of sample
that could lead to the salvation of humanity” I scouted the area, it was hot and i
was already sweating, The area was surrounded by flies, mosquitos, and devoured
bodies, some of them had large scratch marks. “what could have done this?” ,
“what happened here? are those scientist?” i looked around and they were right the
soldiers noticed white coats “Everyone settle down we know this is terrifying but
that's why we are here to prove that we are unstoppable if we find the cure, we
finally have an advantage, we can cure the Nation and maybe even the world or
what's left of it”
Scarlet walked up some steps that lead to a roof she opened the digital map
and mark all locations where there was no infection. She walked to the edge and
looked at the soldiers “they are not soldiers” she whispered, i looked down at them
and she was right they were scared, they are scared and i knew what she was
thinking “ they are just kids, i know i'm a kid too but they are scared, they don’t
know how to block the fear out, i'm not scared, Riley are you?” I had to think about
it, i felt scared everyday, every second i walk around i'm scared that im gonna
have to fight, that i'm gonna have to survive again “yes i am”. hours passed until
we received orders to go and search the sun was going down and i didn't like the
way this place was looking, the headmaster gave us the go ahead and we scattered.
ten minutes into the search we hear screaming and everyone starts to panic scarlett
and i follow the sounds of the screams and find ourselves falling into a hole in the
ground that was covered with leaves we turned our flashlights on. there were 2
pathways “you take left i take right, if anything happens call me” she suggested. I
walked along the tunnel, the walls were covered with human flesh and blood but i
continued to walk. I kept thinking to myself what happened to them to emma,
logan and angel. The headmaster's words replayed in my head “those you love will
be the reason for your fall” at least that's what i think she said
Chapter 11: The Heroine arrives
“Scarlett?” i whispered “where are you?” it was pitch dark you could hear
every single movement i could hear the sound of eyelids closing and opening i
could hear every muscle in my body moving as i tried to remain quiet. Footsteps
followed me but every time I turned around no one was there I felt like some rogue
agent In a suicide mission. "Aaaaaaaa!" "Scarlett" I screamed as I darted to the
direction of the only female voice there was in this entire mission, "Scarlett where
are you!" I kept screaming until i arrived at a white corridor with Scarlett kneeling
on the ground looking at me at the other side. She was trying to tell me something,
I just couldn't figure it out I had too much adrenaline in my body. I shifted my feet
and sprinted towards her but as quickly as I started I stopped, they had planted
booby traps i was standing on one and what i know realize so was scarlett.
we stayed put we tried signaling the others with no luck soon the room seem
to get smaller by the minute, “scarlett are you okay?”, I yelled, she looked up she
was crying her eyes said everything, she was scared the crows really did a number
on her “it's going to be ok, we are going to be ok”. i had thought i was
hallucinating but the room was shrinking and the air was getting thin, the only way
out of here was the door behind scarlett. I looked behind me but the way i had
came through had been closed off by a titanium door. So many things were running
through my mind i had to make a run for it to that door or we were going to be
squashed like bugs.
i decided to run and the sind my foot let go of the tile hyper slicers appeared,
i sprinted even faster scarlett was as still as a rock she was looking at me in fear,
tears streaming down her face. i was right in front of her still running i jumped on
top of her and we slid into the door. her trap was the same going in opposite
direction towards where i was, if we both would have moved we both would have
died. the door slid open it was dark and steamy and smelled just like a hospital.
when we stepped in lights turned on in the form of the epidemic symbol the
room was bright and capsules with liquid marked as cpt6 on the glass, empty and
abandoned, we separated and looked around to find any clue of what this might be
“Are you ok” i asked her, no response “scarlett?” i asked again i started walking
faster and saw why she wasn't answering it was a girl in a capsule “woah” was all i
could say. i walked and stood by scarlett “this is it” she said i looked at her and
back at the girl “this is what” i asked she looked at me and smiled “the cure” I was
shocked “i always thought the cure was a gas or a liquid, how is she the cure what's
so special about her” we kept staring “i don't know but we will find out. she is the
cure and i was told to bring the cure in, and thats what im going to do”.
Chapter 12: Survivors
¨Friendship, love, and happiness is what we fight for, we strive to save
our friends, we jump to the sight of love, we try to buy happiness even though we
can't but in this world we fight to survive. Every man for themselves, we are cruel,
and become vicious animals the second we feel threatened so we jump to
conclusions, we think about the worst possible outcomes and we jump for an
attack, we go for the most obvious attack. I just never thought i'd be the one
fighting for my life…...again¨.
“We need to find the switch for this machine” said scarlett, “ok just stop for
a second, what if this...she isn't the cure what if it's a trap?” she looked at me and
frowned “we don't live in a world of what if’s anymore, we have to be decisive and
we have to take her in.
Even if she's a bioengineered weapon of some sort. Besides if it was a rap
don't you think, they would have attacked already, so let's go help me get her out of
this.” I decided she was right i was just panicking so i walked around the capsule
and found the wires controlling the electricity flow to the machine. The second i
pulled the plug all the lights turned on “what in the world is this place” i whispered
.
The floors were silver, the windows were tinted like it was some type of simulation
room and someone would just be tortured here or, put to the ultimate test. the water
liquid in the capsule started to drain, in a matter of seconds the capsule was empty
and she was awake. She stared at me, then switched to scarlett, this occurred for a
while until scarlet decided to open it up.
The capsule opened as scarlett pulled the lever on the side of the machine.
The girl looked at me like a hawk, before i realized what her legs were doing
scarlett went flying out of the capsule and into my arms sending us both across the
room. we swiftly got up and looked at her “we don't wanna hurt you , we just want
to help” i screamed scarlett pushed me to the side “speak for yourself, she just
granted herself a hard knock beat down” The girl smiled and hissed back “Game
on!” Scarlett was fuming she charged at the poor girl, the poor naked girl, i tried
my best to look away.
“Scarlett don’t, we have a mission To bring her back to headquarters, we
will not fight her we will find a compromise okay!!” i screamed she stopped
midway and put away her knife that i didn't realized she had taken out “you were
going to kill her weren't you” i asked “no just give her a big scar” she said as she
walked passed me i turned to the girl and she smiled “RIlEY!!!!” she started
running towards me and tackled me to the floor like a happy puppy, I pushed her
off “who are you?” i asked, her grin faded when i said that.
“it's me Sarah, Don't you remember?" i shook my head telling her no. “ We
are like brother and sister, how come you don't remember how much we have been
through, i know about your special abilities, you are magic and you always were,
what happened to you?” i looked at her i could feel the disbelief on my face, she
slowly got off of me, i saw her eyes watering. ¨we need to get out of here now¨ She
said, quickly she glanced at the girl ¨and i mean all of us¨.
she grabbed the girl by the arm and escorted her back out to the surface, i
followed behind i was distraught, i don't know who this person is, she knows my
secret and i know the headmaster is going to hear about this. It didn't take long
until we were in the hover craft, sarah was in the control room i looked at her ¨who
are you?¨ she looked up ¨You're pulling one of on me right, you're kidding because
if tsi is a joke ok i fell for it but don't tell me you don’t know who i am¨.
i could hear her voice cracking as she spoke to me ¨i'm sorry but i don't
know who you are, i was in an accident and i don't remember anything that
happened before the plague began¨ she jumped up ¨he actually did it, that bastard
got away with it, he actually did it¨ i was confused ¨what are you talking about?,
are you telling me that you know who was responsible for this?¨ i asked. she
looked startled ¨i can't tell you or your sister, it will break your heart¨ ¨sarah or
whatever youŕe name is you need to help us, you could be the answer to the end of
this war, i have seen too much, i was chased relentlessly for weeks by a man i
never even knew.
Almost got killed by a mutated freak of nature created by the virus, betrayed
by my companions, and almost killed by russians you have to tell me, they think
it's me. Everyone i have had an encounter with thinks that this has been my fault,
that i'm the cause of the outbreak¨. i could feel me getting tense, she knew
something that could help everyone ¨You have to tell us!¨ i yelled.
Scarlett rushed into the passenger room she pinned me against the seat
“what the hell do you think you’re doing?” She asked “she knows who did this, she
knows who's responsible for this epidemic warfare” she glanced at her and back at
me “wait until we get back to headquarters then we can question her but for now
stay away from her, do that zen thing you do”. I looked at Sarah “i'm sorry” i told
her i looked out the window and fell asleep.
i awoke when we arrived at the headquarters Scarlet had Saran wrap in a
towel covering her. we walked simultaneously down the corridor to the infection
control center, headmaster was waiting for us at the entrance “Nice work. Riley
can i have a word please?” she asked i nodded and followed her to the main office
in the facility, the room was spacious.
The view outside was tremendous minus the huge fortress on the
background, but you could see the flowers, the ponds, and the animals that had
survived. She sat down and gestured me to sit, she looked at me it was complete
silence for what seemed to about 2 minutes, she cleared her throat and it began.
“We never formally introduced ourselves, My name is Addison Love” i
shuckled “i something funny” she asked i stopped. “exactly why did you call me in
here?” i asked her “well se we have a common goal we both want you to remember
and we both need to find the cure. Now i understand you told that girl that a few
months back a man had chased you and your friends for weeks despite the
apocalypse”.
“How do you know about this, and yes he chased us is like he was immune
to them, like he was invisible, they followed his every command like they were his
puppets. He was relentless, he managed to get the family of one of my friends
dead” i stopped to take a breath “one of your friends?” she asked “let me remind
you they sold you out, they picked to fight alongside those who want you dead.We
are in a war right now and we can't have you feeling sentimental so get yourself
together right here right now.That man isn't going to stop we have sent troops to
stop him, i know who this man is i just don't know why he's after you but one
thing's for sure i don't want to find out.
Riley you have amazing gifts, powers that i could only wish of having, i
think it's time for you to start learning how to use them, how to bend the rules in
combat and how to use those powers to restore balance to our world”. I was
frustrated i looked at her and i got up and started walking to the exit “remember
this you are as strong as you make yourself, so believe and you will survive”.
Chapter 13: Powerless
I thought i had it all. I had convinced myself that even though i was in the
middle of a war, that my life was perfect. Day756, year 2027 things have gotten
better since Sarah was cleared, she had no infection , but we failed to realize that
after several painful studies she wasn't what we were looking for, she was the first
step to saving humanity.
“How did the mission go?” Sarah asked. “The mission, well it went well,
how was your stay at the spa?” asked scarlett, i looked at scarlett, confused “we
have a spa and no one bothered to tell me?” they both looked at me and started
laughing “This type of spa is not something a boy would want to be in” she
responded “scarlett would you give us a moment?”.
Scarlett nodded in agreement to Sarah and left us alone on the balcony.
“Are you ready to talk about…. are you ready to tell me what you know about the
person responsible for what has happened” she looked at me and sighed “okay if
you really want to know” i couldn't stop myself from smiling “yes it's the only
thing keeping me on my two feet” i said while grinning from ear to ear.
“For starters you are not responsible for any of this, but someone who i think
you've met before is responsible for everything that has happened to you, i didn't
want to say anything earlier because i knew you wouldn't stop talking about it, but
i know what happened to you before you lost your memory”. The thought of
actually knowing what happened to me, how i lost my memory i was going to tell
her to finish telling me but before i could begin to speak we heard an explosion, the
alarms started wailing,i felt like my eardrums were about to burst ¨LETS MOVE!!¨
i yelled.
We ran to Addison’s office, no one was there, we headed towards the
command room, running through the corridor the alarms still wailing like sirens
¨Riley!¨ someone called me from outside it sounded like they were using a
megaphone ¨Come out from hiding we know you’re here¨ the voice kept yelling i
arrived at the front door, addison, scarlett and others were there too.
¨who are these people¨ addison asked ¨they were the ones scarlett saved me
from¨ i responded, i saw a familiar unwelcomed face. ¨its him, the man outside the
house, the one who got angels family killed, it's him¨ anger filled within me as i
said the words i was ready to wage war but this was a fight we couldn't win.
¨what do you want¨ addison yelled ¨we want to cause no harm, all we want
is a compromise. We have something you want, and you have someone we want so
let's make a trade¨ I stopped him before he kept going ¨we will make no deals with
you, you could be the devil for all we know, no matter what i'm not going with
you¨ they all looked at me and they started laughing ¨oh you silly child we don't
want you, we never did this whole time you've been leading us to her”.
“We knew your sister would one day find you, we knew that your captain
would one day find ¨the cure¨ but what she found was the beginning of the end of
this world¨. i was confused we all were but i figured it out ¨you want Sarah, is that
who you're after?¨ he smiled ¨Bingo!¨ addison looked at me for reassurance.
i felt anger in my heart, i could feel the signals from my brain traveling
through my body, i felt like i could do anything to them with the blink of an eye,
¨how do you know about sarah, Who are you, why were you trying to get us
killed¨. ¨I didn't want you dead, i wanted you to move faster to get us to her, and as
of who i am why don't you ask sarah¨ he responded.
We all looked at sarah she stepped back and looked at me, and looked at
scarlett “I'm sorry i can’t” she murmured as she turned into the building “You will
never get another chance like this” he called out “to find out the truth, you will
never have that chance here, we can help you, we can help you find out who killed
him, and trapped you in that capsule”. Sarah stops for a second, she turns around
we could see the pain on her face “It was you. It was always you, i loved him!, and
you took him from me!” i looked at everyone around us their faces puzzled,
confused, lost and scared. He looked at her his eyes focused on her every
movement trying to figure what she would do before she would even think about it.
“Sarah i know you’re hurting but we are here for you we” “STOP IT! How
dare you try to talk me into leaving with you, you are the most vicious man i've
ever met. You need to go, you need to go NOW!” she screamed. He looked angry,
and ready to start another war. “You will accompany us One way or another, Dead
or alive”. Everyone took a step back, we looked at his army and mainly his face he
looked ready to attack, Addison looked at us “even though they are outside the
gates they will get it eventually when i say the word retreat” she told us as we
waited for him to make his move. he looked to both sides “We Have an army of
what you have been trying to destroy, we have a army of what you have been
trying not to become, if you want war, it is war that you will get but we will take
her Dead or alive. This is Redemption we will come out victorious and there is
nothing you can do to stop us. You think this little fortress will last for ever NO!
WE WILL END YOU. He kept ranting on about ending us until his last words I
realized we just started a war in our own front yard. I looked at him, our eyes met
in gaze and he whispered "you're dead”.
Chapter 14:Wicked
The pounding on on our electromagnetic shield was overwhelming
these people were safe, they had nothing to worry about they were looking
for a cure and now because of me, because of sarah they are in danger. I
speed walked down the corridor to the main office addison was pacing in her
office covering her ears as the pound on the shield shook the building.
The radars were glowing with red sparks indicating the enemies in the area,
we were surrounded by zombies lead by a miniature human army. “Addison
we need to prepare to attack, the shield cannot withstand this much damage
for much longer” i murmured, i never seen her like this, the weeks i've been
here she showed a strong image, no emotions and now, now that her fortress
is under attack she is vulnerable “addison what do you want us to do? we
need instructions now” she was shaking, like she was cold, and in the middle
of a snow storm. “I dont know, im not capable of making any radical
decisions, right now i'm making you headmaster, for now you control things,
just make sure you don't get them killed”.
I grabbed the microphone and spoke “all trained soldiers please report
to mission control” the message played in the background of the pounding
walls. I ran to mission control and the room is nearly empty one thought
came to my head “we are dead”.
I walked in front of the soldiers, they all looked at me with worrisome
eyes, i began to speak “as you can see we are almost at war, Addison needs
all of you to be prepared for the worst I can not promise you that we will
come out alive, but i can promise that we won't go down without a fight” i
took a breath and exhaled.
I continued “those who are weapons specialist please report to the top
of the roof where you will find Scarlett waiting to give instructions. While
those who are specialized in hand to hand you will meet me outside. We will
survive this fight, we will come out victorious.”
They looked at me like i was insane “LET'S GO!” i yelled, we didn't
have time to lose the longer we waited the closer they got to breaking our
shield. I started walking off the platform, looking at the walls how they
trembled like they were in fear, dust flying as the enemies attacked. I moved
faster to the entrance and there he was again he had not moved an inch since
earlier.
“You don't have to do this, whatever you want it can be done another
way” i told him hoping that he would understand. He looked and smiled but
didn't bother to answer me, the other soldiers finally came out with full gear,
some with sharp bladed knives others with all types of swords, i looked up
and saw scarlett in position with her group.
We were prepared to attack, just like they were. I looked behind me,
and was surprised to see sarah “why are you here, you need to go now, this
isn't going to hold forever, he was clear that he wanted you not me you need
to go now” i explained to her “he doesn't want me, he doesn't want me by his
side, he wants my ability, my gift¨.
Why did she call it a gift , i've been thinking about it since i learned
about my ability, but i never gave time for me to learn about it, what exactly
does she mean.
“Your ability, what do you mean” i asked “when all of this started i
was exposed to the virus, it didn't turn me into one of those things it bonded
with me on a cellular level, soon after i was exposed to it, we had a nuclear
bomb explosion, radiation all over cities, all over the our town , i was also
exposed to radiation, but to my surprise nothing happened to me, i took
control of the radiation.
I manipulated it,it was negated, i can turn it into a blast that would
disintegrate a human in a matter of seconds, i could wipe out the last of the
human race, i could end this epidemic, but as long as he lives, i can't.” I was
shocked, Appalled with what i was hearing but all that would come out was
“Will you fight with us.”
She nodded, i walked towards her and stood by her side.
We were facing a war about to erupt. We were not going to go down without a
fight.
“You can still walk away from this” i told him, He walked towards one of his
creatures, as he walked he looked at me and sarah.
“Oh, But we will”
“This force field won't last for long” I looked around as the words
slipped out of my lips, and i saw the fear, hatred, in some faces i could not tell. The
blank faces just made me want to turn and run, I fazed out and saw us all Dead,
being devoured by flesh eating abominations. I saw me standing behind them all
blood on my clothes, and hands covered in bits of flesh that was drowned by blood.
I came back to reality, and it happened, after hours of trying to break down
the force field, it finally was coming down, they actually did it.
“I told you, this wasn't going to keep us out” he screamed
i could see the force field receding from the top down, like pixels coming apart.
I looked up at scarlett, she nodded, we knew it was time to give it all we had.
“You don't have to do this” I yelled.
“you are right we don't but we will” he responded
the force field was completely down, we had no type of artificial defense left.
they all got ready to lunge one of them sprinted the second, the force field went
down.
Before anyone could do anything, a gun went off it was one of us . i looked up at
scarlett and looked back at the others. My heart was now racing.
The army that once stood still with hungry eyes for blood was now in pursuit of
their prey, they were running like normal beings, like if there was nothing wrong
with them.
While everyone else charged towards them i remained frozen in the moment.
Flashbacks came running back to me like a tsunami. fire sparks twinkled around
me as the smoke from the forcefield generators flooded the background, i stood
motionless looking at the floor thinking to myself “is it true? did i really start all of
this? am i really responsible for this”. The two groups were close to colliding.
I could feel floor shaking as the mutated giants ran across the field, suddenly a
myriad of bullets came down towards the Zombies and their freaks, I snapped the
second the bullets were fired, by the time anyone looked up we couldn't see
anything, due to the cloud of dust that was surrounding the hovercraft.
“MOVE BACK!” I screamed, they all heard me and started to walk back, the
bullets stopped, like a the ammunition had been used all in that blast. It was quiet,
way to quiet “keep your guard up everybody we don't know who this is” as
everyone came back to the front of the house. The dust had faded away, and you
could see it wasn't a hovercraft it was a jet. while everyone stared i looked at the
bodies on the floor all smothered to smithereens, still the army stood strong ready
fro a fight. I looked at the bigger Zombies who stared at their master for orders, i
looked at him and he nodded.
Rocks went flying into the air soon enough the jets wings were brought down, the
plane had landed on the ground, next to the house, I rushed to the plane the
windows were shattered to pieces, i looked for the pilot but the seat belt was
broken and blood painted the floor. The door to enter the plane had fallen off fog
was covering the empty hole that was left, out if it came out an arm, i was relieved
that the person was alive but the hand slid down and blood covered the dirt which
the plaine laid on. i walked towards the person. It was a girl i pulled her out of the
plane, i didn't know who she was. i layed her on the ground, and moved her hair
out of her face.
My heart dropped, it shattered into a million pieces, she was bleeding out there was
no way to save her, tears filled my eyes, as anger quickly took over my body.
“Why did you have to do this” i asked, you could hear the pain and anger in my
voice, i kept looking at her “I was wrong about you… everything they said… was a
lie.. i couldn't let them hurt you…. anymore… that man is the reason for all of
this…. you have to get him to… the research facility in….” she kept coughing
blood i could barely understand her i looked into her eyes “ Take him where!?” i
asked “I love you…… i realized it when… i broke your heart… you are the only
person that i had left…. You are my rock.”
I felt her body become lighter as i held her in my arms, she stopped breathing, my
heart burnt, i could feel it on fire “ WAKE UP!” i screamed, over and over again. It
took me a while to realize that i was wasting time crying when i could be getting
revenge.
Scarlett had already came down and was standing behind me “what are we going to
do she asked? What's the plan?” i turned around and looked at her , she backed up
and i could hear gasps throughout the yard “She did this for us, she died for us. she
was the only person that really cared, she died trying to save us, now they are all
going to pay, with their lives” i responded
“This is suicide” responded scarlet she could see that with my silence all i said was
i don't care.
The darkness started to settle in the only light was from the safe house, it felt like
a movie set. The hatred that had built up inside me was out of control.
I turned around to face my allies “They will pay for hurting those we love, we are
not puppets, they can not control us, We will not give in !”
The war began i was the first to start running towards the enemy
“Riley NO!” i heard scarlet scream i didn't care i kept running, soon enough
everyone was next to me full speed ahead.
The man raised one hand and all the monstrosity this virus had created charged
towards us we clashed, you could hear bone breaking, a tooth flew past my face i
wasn't sure whose it was. I had only one thing in mind and that was to get to that
animal, to end him so we can continue to survive without worry.
As i charged past hordes of undead he just kept smiling at me, he was taunting me,
making fun of me the anger grew more and more . Scarlet was right on my tail.
“ I can handle this you take care of the rest” i told her
“I know you can, but guess what i'm not going anywhere, now are we going to get
this bastard or what?” she responded while smiling. she had an evil smirk that i
