JUST AROUND THE BEND
Episode IX
APPENDIX 2
Ford Dale’s Wagon Models:
There’s nothing so incredible as to go to a museum and see
th
something that defines a century of our history. The 18
Century was a blossoming of industry around the world, and
the opening to a new world of imagination.
Across America we were opening a new land and developing a
new and totally different way of life. Travel, communication,
and the time it took for us to do any job was changing at a rate
unknown.
Here is more than a study of the kinds of vehicles we used for
the first time, and how wheels and the ability to build and
th
modify materials to suit every need. It’s a collection of 18
Century vehicles that we attached to horses. It would not be
long before the vehicles would become motorized.
Enjoy this collection of Dale’s buggies and fine craftsmanship.
We were able to view it at the Richard Russell Museum in
Montana where it is permanently housed..

One day we hope an enterprising person will contract to build
‘Model Kits’ of these wagons. They are about 12 inches long
and up to 8 inches high. The photos were taken through glass
which may be reflected along with the background of the
museum.
