Director’s Notes

The Fairfield Woods Drama Club’s story of the past fifteen months is something none of us could
have foreseen. On March 7, 2020, we were fifteen rehearsals from our opening night of MARY
POPPINS when we got word that the schools would be closing and all activities postponed.
When the new school year began there was still no certainty about what we could and couldn’t
do in school… activities were on hold.

But CJ, with her positive, optimistic outlook kept our hopes alive about finishing what we had
started. In the fall of 2020 we heard about a small theatre company that was closing and they
offered us set pieces that they had used in their last production, which, of course, was MARY
POPPINS. We rented a truck, masked up, and retrieved a variety of props and furniture pieces
that you will see on our stage tonight.

As time went on it became clear that we would be able to put on a show with a host of safety
protocols in place designed to keep everyone healthy. Masks, distance, physical proximity….no
public performance. …As each obstacle was faced, somehow, some way, we managed to find an
answer….and the best answer, as always, has been our cast and crew - including our adult
production team - for giving the time and energy to bring the magic of MARY POPPINS, JR. to
all of you.

As Mary and the Banks’ sing: “Sally forth the way we’re steering, obstacles start disappearing,
go on, chase your dreams, you won’t regret it. Anything can happen if you let it.” Sit back, relax
and enjoy the show!

Principal Players

AINSLEY DAHLSTROM (Jane Banks) is in eighth grade and attending Warde High school next year. Ainsley is delighted
to be performing in her second show with Ms. Frawley! Favorite roles include Amaryllis in The Music Man, Lucy in 13,
Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden, Lavender Matilda, Baby June in Gypsy, and Rapunzel in Rapunzel. In her free time,
Ainsley enjoys singing and doing her makeup.

ASHTON DELLA PORTA (Bird Woman) is a thirteen year old 8th grader who will be attending Fairfield Ludlowe High
School next fall. This is Ash’s second production of Mary Poppins, Jr. and second show with Fairfield Woods’ Drama
Club. They play ukulele, guitar, and sing with Chorus and Chamber Choir.

OLIVIA FARRELL (Mary Poppins) is in 7th grade. She loves going camping with my family and friends in my camper
and loves going to Disney and Universal. She plays basketball and soccer and has a dog named Rocco. In the process of
practicing Mary Poppins, Jr. at home, everyone in her family has been helping her rehearse lines and go over the songs and
dances. Her little sister Jocie loves to do the British accents while practicing! Olivia has been doing theatre since she was
in second grade but has always loved to perform ever since she was really little.

GRACE FUSCO (Miss Andrew) is in 8th grade and will attend Fairfield Ludlowe High School next fall. She studies
musical theater at Broadway Method Academy. Grace’s interests (other than singing and dancing) include arts and crafts,
field hockey and baking.

ADDISON GUTH (Mrs. Brill) is in 8th grade and will be going to Fairfield Ludlowe High School next year. Some of her
favorite hobbies are playing basketball and soccer. She plays on a soccer team with a bunch of friends and it’s really fun.
Aside from sports, acting is one of her favorite hobbies. Addison loves doing shows and getting to put on a performance that
others can watch and enjoy.

EMMY JOYCE (Katie Nana) is in 8th grade. She is interested in musical theatre, digital design and art. In her spare time
she enjoys singing, long walks in the wilderness, trying new foods, and traveling. Emmy has appeared in some local
productions such as Newsies, (Fairfield Woods Drama Club Production in 2019), The Little Mermaid, Annie, The Addams
Family, and Frozen, Jr. (Broadway Method Academy productions).

MOLLY PASSECK (Mrs. Corry) makes her theatre debut with Mary Poppins, Jr. and already loves it! She is in 7th grade
and loves singing, skiing, volleyball, and skateboarding with my friends. Molly is excited for next years’ Drama Club
production and hopes that it is as fun as this one has been!

SOPHIE PENNOCK COLLINS (Winifred Banks) is in 8th grade at Fairfield Woods Middle School. She spends her free
time with friends, reading, and performing. Some of Sophie’s past performances include Newsies, Shrek Jr., Willy Wonka,
and Legally Blonde Jr. Sophie will be attending Fairfield Ludlowe High School next year.

his favorite previous roles include Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie, Romeo in Newsies, Ryan Evans in High School Musical
2, Simba in Lion King Jr, and Willie Cratchit in A Christmas Carol: The New Musical. Stephen would like to thank his
family and friends for all of their support.

ALEX ROSENBERG (George Banks) is an 8th grader who loves doing many activities. He loves performing in musicals,
playing tennis, and hanging out with his friends. Alex has been in musicals such as Newsies {Specs}, Beauty & the Beast
Jr. {Gaston}, Cinderella, Jr. {The King}, Annie, Jr. {Oliver Warbucks}, Legally Blonde, Jr. {Warner Huntington III}, The
Music Man {Harold Hill} and so much more! He can’t wait for you to see this production of Mary Poppins, Jr.!

“Always Look on the Bright Side of Life”, which he sang last year for Broadway Zoomcamp.
