During the ECQ, a strict home quarantine has been implemented in all PASABUY
household, limiting the movement to accessing basic necessities and suspending
public transportation. These are few of the measures to mitigate, if not to contain
the transmission of COVID-19.

However, problems had risen during the implementation of ECQ, one of which is MEDICINE
the access to medicine. Though movement to access basic necessities such as By LGOO III Anna Marie P. Batad
medicine is permitted, the suspension of public transportation has made it
difficult to buy medicines. A number of citizens are faced with this kind of
dilemma during ECQ. There are pharmacies in their area but there are medicines
which are only available in the neighboring cities.

In order to address this problem, the Local Government of Gen. Mamerto
Natividad implemented a program called PASABUY Medicine. Citizens, whose
medicines are not available in any pharmacy in the municipality, will have to
coordinate to the municipal government. They will have to inform representatives
from the LGU on the medicines that they needed and provide doctor’s
prescription, payment for the medicine and their contact information. The LGU
shall be the one to buy the medicines outside the municipality and will not
charge fee for handling. The LGU shall also inform the household when their
medicines are ready for pick up in the municipal hall.

With the ECQ imposed in the whole Province of Nueva Ecija for two (2) months
from March 17-May 15, 2020, and Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine
(MECQ) thereafter, this program had been a huge help to citizens not only in
accessing medicines but also limiting the exposures to the virus.

DILG NE salutes Frontliners

By LGOO VI Alfa Krista C. Reyes

"A true hero isn't measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart."
- Hercules

Amidst the chaos we are facing due to the threats posed about by COVID-19, there are unsung and
uncelebrated heroes - our Frontliners.

Many are unarmed to face this battle and yet are brave enough to selflessly and courageously continue
serving the country.

While most of us resorted to staying at home working and being with our loved ones, our frontliners -
local officials and functionaries, barangay workers, police and army personnel, health workers, hospital
employees, market vendors, cleaners, employees of groceries, pharmacies and other allowed industries,
delivery men, volunteers, media personalities, and countless others - continue to withstand traffic, lack
of public transport, and checkpoints to heed the call in helping to minimize the effects of this
pandemic.

To all the men and women on the frontline of this pandemic, we salute and applaud your utmost
dedication and compassion to our countrymen despite having to sacrifice your own health and safety.
You are our modern day heroes!
