Introduction

Portfolios are a great way to demonstrate the competencies or talk about the ideas
hence they allow you to show and not just tell. Beside that, writing is a thinking made
visible yet it is a process which involves several identifiable steps. Hence writing is a
complex cognitive behavior and a nonlinear process of discovery.Within the essays that
we chose which are argumentative, descriptive, narrative and expository essays. Thus,
my team has contributed together thus producing a portfolio about the essays. In
writing there is a process that refers to a broad range of strategies that include
pre-writing, activities such as defining the audience, using a variety of resources,
planning the writing, as well as drafting and revising. These activities, collectively
referred to as process-oriented instruction, approach writing as problem-solving. Next is
the writing process which contributes six steps, prewriting , drafting, reviewing, editing,
proofreading and sharing. Let's start with prewriting. What is in it? There are topics
which narrow down to specific angles thus researching and analyzing information
sources. The topics that we wrote in the portfolio are the four types of essay,
descriptive, argumentative, narrative and expository writing. Moreover, we brainstormed
our ideas with mind mapping. Then, drafting it to focus the content and structure only
thus writing freely without the correct language, grammar and mechanical aspects.
After that, we review all the works that my team has put together thus improving the
mistakes with editing. Making our portfolio has all the qualities needed and requires all
the topics with relevant ideas. Last but not least, proofreading to trace out all the errors
and try to pinpoint the mistakes reading the text backwards. Lastly, after all the steps
we've done. What‘s left is to share the materials to the students we pointed out for
feedback. Therefore, the purpose of this portfolio is to elaborate the types of writing and
what is its importance. What does it conclude with our audience which are students.
Using different types of writing to improve understanding and social context in reading,
listening, writing and thinking. Hence, brainstorming the ideas in their writing with critical
thinking.

Pre writing

What is process Writing?

Method Writing is an associate degree approach to teaching writing that enables the teacher
and therefore the students to travel through the method of manufacturing a text together. In
process writing, students have the possibility to believe what they're getting to write, produce
drafts, revise, edit, and provide and receive feedback on their work before bobbing up with the

ultimate version of the text. A process approach to writing contrasts with a product approach,
wherever the best plan is to breed a model text.

Stages of process writing:

The artistic method of writing a text is the focus of process writing. Writing could be a productive
ability and therefore the stages of an article lesson take issue from that of receptive skills, like
reading. A typical process writing lesson sometimes includes the subsequent phases:

Pre-writing

During this stage, learners are asked to come back up with concepts and arrange what they're
reaching to write. This stage may include:

- group action ideas;

- Planning;

- Organizing;

- choosing ideas.

Learners can - and may - work collaboratively throughout this stage. they will use techniques
like making lists, mind maps and charts so as to brainstorm and choose the ideas they'd like to
include in their texts. this will be exhausted or outside the room - exploitation ed technical school
tools like Padlet and Edmodo may modify the teacher to line cooperative work whereas students
are at home.

Writing

During this stage, learners can compose the primary draft of their texts. As students are given
the prospect to revise and edit their texts later, accuracy of language, punctuation and
vocabulary isn't essential at this point. Composing the text may be done on an individual basis
or collaboratively - learners may be given the prospect to choose, in step with their preference.

rewriting

This can be {can be} once learners have the chance to appear back at their texts and
reorganize concepts, add, modification or take away sentences and adapt their alternative of
words to create positive the ideas are being sent clearly. Feedback has a necessary role during
this stage. It can be provided by the teacher or by peers: learners can exchange drafts and treat
every other' work.

When revising, students write another draft - which means they're going back to the "writing"
stage. This is often a necessary a part of method writing: permitting learners to write down
completely different drafts as concentrate on the process, instead of within the final result.

piece of writing

When writing many drafts, it's time to proofread, check grammar, writing system and
punctuation. Again, encouraging peer facilitate and obtaining students to browse every other'
work may be useful.

Some issues once adopting a method approach to writing:

It fosters creativity:

in contrast to product writing, process writing doesn't have a model text because the beginning
point. which means that learners have the prospect to use their previous data and begin
pondering a text supported the concepts that they are available up with. once progressing to
use a process approach to writing, however, it's necessary to place confidence in what kind of
text - or matter genre - the scholars are asked to produce. If learners have to be compelled to
write a narrative, an editorial or associate essay, specializing in concepts initial may be an
honest choice. However, if the genre conventions are terribly fixed, like in e-mails, formal letters,
or reports, a product approach to writing might be more suitable.

It encourages cooperative work:

Most stages of method writing provide cluster work and peer collaboration. Learners will work
along whereas they generate and choose ideas - they may find themselves with more ideas in
the pre-writing part if this {can be} done collaboratively.

Feedback is of predominant importance once writing is seen as a process. As learners can
(and should!) write multiple drafts when this approach is adopted, feedback is present
throughout. rather than being provided by the teacher only, there's an area for peer feedback
and peer correction. For peer feedback to be effective, however, the teacher should provide the
tools for learners to present feedback to every other. Some concepts may involve asking
students to concentrate on one facet of the text at a time (e.g.: giving feedback on content first,
then serving to one another revise the organization of the text, etc.)

One in all the best blessings of teaching learners the way to collaborate with each other once
writing is that it resembles how writing takes place in most real-life situations: after we write

texts, before submitting it to the ultimate browser, we typically raise someone to read and
provide U.S. feedback. Why not make an attempt this within the room as well?

Time constraints

Writing takes time - and this is often even additional true with method writing. so as to modify
learners to concentrate on the process, it's necessary to present them time to travel through the
stages, write multiple drafts, and incorporate the feedback they receive on their work. Students
can spend plenty of their time not writing, thus it is important to assist them keep their final
objective in mind throughout the process.

It needs support

As mentioned previously, feedback is vital for a sure-fire method writing lesson. Additionally,
staging the lesson coherently and providing the required quantity of support in every part could
facilitate learners reach their objectives additionally efficiently. For example, if learners are
asked to ensure, it might be an honest plan to present them with tools which will modify them to
proofread effectively.

Examples of narrative essay:

In elementary school, I had many experiences that garnered memories. I was often bullied
on the playground during recess because of my skinniness and height. The larger boys saw
me as a target for their ego to inflate. They might have had problems at home, or were
bullied themselves, and were projecting their frustrations on me.

Anyways, after being locked in a locker, put headfirst into a toilet, punched and pushed
around, called names, played jokes on, and other abuse, I finally had enough. I cracked. I
could not psychologically take anymore hurt and punctures to my self-esteem.

A day or two after my birthday, I was on the school basketball court, shooting hoops. My
mother had given me a basketball as a gift, and I was reveling in the fun of this new sport.
But as expected (though I did not think about it at the time), another child started to bother
me. He came up to me, and without a word, took the basketball out of my hands as I was
dribbling. I was so shocked and emotionally tied to that gift that without a moment’s notice, I
punched the kid in the face. I knocked him down and he immediately ran away crying. I never
asked if he was playfully taking the ball from me, but I had had enough bullying in my day to
react strongly to such an action.

Apparently, the boy went to the principal and reported my violence. I was called to the
principal’s office during my next class, and walked in with my own form of ethics. The boy
had been a bully, and he deserved a repercussion. However, the principal and I did not see
eye to eye, naturally. He called my mother about the incident, and she was surprised that I
would do such a thing. I had always been the quiet kid, playing with toys by himself, or
tagging along with other children as more of a witness than a major participant. No one’s
mother expects their child to punch someone, but it happens for certain reasons. In my case,
I had been dominated by my classmates for years, and that pent-up anger and shame
resulted in a violent action.

From then on, I figured out that I did not need to be bullied. I could take action. I found that
my anger and resentment gave me a wild strength, which was unmatched by the usual

fighting powers of a calm kid. In a way, I went to the dark side (in reference to Star Wars). I
found a way to combat my enemies, but not in the healthiest of avenues.

In middle school, I dug my nails into a boy’s arm and restrained him after he made several
verbal attacks towards me. He was much bigger and taller than me, but my anger guided me
towards illogic and throwing estimating my chances to the wind.

In high school, a junior beat up my twin brother. My brother and I were both freshmen at the
time. When I saw him next, I choked him and even dragged him up to a light post, where I
banged his head on a metal pole. His girlfriend was watching and was terrified. I do not know
exactly what had come over me, but from that time in elementary school where I first used
my fists to resolve an issue, I did not look back. I had found a solution that made me feel
strong, confident, and able to take on the world. However, there was one problem: it put
holes in my bedroom door, it led to unnecessary attacks on my family, and I found that the
sensation of not being able to control my anger was troubling.

Thank heavens I started to meditate. By the time I was 19 years old, bullies were not a
problem anymore, and I had no use for my boiling anger. When I started to meditate every
day, I found that the person beyond the anger was much more agreeable to be around. I
wanted to be more like that person every day. So, I continued to meditate daily, and
eventually I became the person that I wanted to be. I learned that anger was a temporary
solution, but I did not need to drag it on throughout the years. Now, I am much more satisfied
to be peaceful inside.

EXAMPLES OF ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY

As college sports continue to be hugely popular and the National Collegiate Athletic Association
(NCAA) brings in large amounts of revenue, people have revived the debate on whether college
athletes should get paid.

There are many ways payments could work. They could be in the form of a free-market
approach, where athletes are able to earn whatever the market is willing to pay them, it could be
a set amount of money per athlete, or student athletes could earn income from endorsements,
autographs, and control of their likeness, similar to the way top Olympians earn money.

Proponents of the idea believe that, because college athletes are the ones who are training,
participating in games, and bringing in audiences, they should receive some sort of
compensation for their work. If there were no college athletes, the NCAA wouldn’t exist, college
coaches wouldn’t receive their salaries, and brands like Nike couldn’t profit from college sports.
In fact, the NCAA brings in roughly $1 billion in revenue a year, but college athletes don’t
receive any of that money in the form of a paycheck. Additionally, people who believe college
athletes should be paid state that paying college athletes will actually encourage them to remain
in college longer and not turn pro as quickly, either by giving them a way to begin earning
money in college or requiring them to sign a contract stating they’ll stay at the university for a
certain number of years while making an agreed-upon salary.

Supporters of this idea point to Zion Williamson, the Duke basketball superstar, who, during his
freshman year, sustained a serious knee injury. Many argued that, even if he enjoyed playing for
Duke, it wasn’t worth risking another injury and ending his professional career before it even
began for a program that wasn’t paying him. Williamson seems to have agreed with them and
declared his eligibility for the NCAA draft later that year. If he was being paid, he may have
stayed at Duke longer. In fact, roughly a third of student athletes surveyed stated that receiving
a salary while in college would make them “strongly consider” remaining collegiate athletes
longer before turning pro.

Paying athletes could also stop the recruitment scandals that have plagued the NCAA. In 2018,
the NCAA stripped the University of Louisville's men's basketball team of its 2013 national
championship title because it was discovered coaches were using sex workers to entice recruits
to join the team. There have been dozens of other recruitment scandals where college athletes
and recruits have been bribed with anything from having their grades changed, to getting free
cars, to being straight out bribed. By paying college athletes and putting their salaries out in the
open, the NCAA could end the illegal and underhanded ways some schools and coaches try to
entice athletes to join.

People who argue against the idea of paying college athletes believe the practice could be
disastrous for college sports. By paying athletes, they argue, they’d turn college sports into a
bidding war, where only the richest schools could afford top athletes, and the majority of schools
would be shut out from developing a talented team (though some argue this already happens
because the best players often go to the most established college sports programs, who
typically pay their coaches millions of dollars per year). It could also ruin the tight camaraderie of
many college teams if players become jealous that certain teammates are making more money
than they are.

They also argue that paying college athletes actually means only a small fraction would make
significant money. Out of the 350 Division I athletic departments, fewer than a dozen earn any
money. Nearly all the money the NCAA makes comes from men’s football and basketball, so
paying college athletes would make a small group of men--who likely will be signed to pro teams
and begin making millions immediately out of college--rich at the expense of other players.

Those against paying college athletes also believe that the athletes are receiving enough
benefits already. The top athletes already receive scholarships that are worth tens of thousands
per year, they receive free food/housing/textbooks, have access to top medical care if they are
injured, receive top coaching, get travel perks and free gear, and can use their time in college as
a way to capture the attention of professional recruiters. No other college students receive
anywhere near as much from their schools.

People on this side also point out that, while the NCAA brings in a massive amount of money
each year, it is still a non-profit organization. How? Because over 95% of those profits are
redistributed to its members’ institutions in the form of scholarships, grants, conferences,
support for Division II and Division III teams, and educational programs. Taking away a
significant part of that revenue would hurt smaller programs that rely on that money to keep
running.

While both sides have good points, it’s clear that the negatives of paying college athletes far
outweigh the positives. College athletes spend a significant amount of time and energy playing
for their school, but they are compensated for it by the scholarships and perks they receive.
Adding a salary to that would result in a college athletic system where only a small handful of
athletes (those likely to become millionaires in the professional leagues) are paid by a handful of
schools who enter bidding wars to recruit them, while the majority of student athletics and

college athletic programs suffer or even shut down for lack of money. Continuing to offer the

current level of benefits to student athletes makes it possible for as many people to benefit from

and enjoy college sports as possible.

Example of descriptive writing

My favourite place is sitting on my back porch on an early summer morning. The small concrete
back porch sits in the back of my home near the woods and the garden. The area is very
isolated and peaceful. There are no sounds of human life, cars or anything to alter nature. After
awakening in the mornings, I remove the everlasting sleep from my tired eyes and walk to the
small warming porch. I enjoy this time alone to gather my thoughts and feelings for the day.

The old iron furniture squeaks and wobbles when it is sat upon. The umbrella waves with the
wind, as if waving to say good morning. The grill adds smells of a pleasant mix of last night's
barbeque and old charcoal. Freshly brewed coffee and the sharp smell of summer also mix in
the air. Sitting on the morning dew damp chairs and listening to the wind as it brushes with
softness. Bright white light startles me for a moment as I start to awaken for a new day. The
squirrels start to come out slowly as if they are playing hide and seek. The trees are large and
close together as they slap in the wind. Crisp air has a smell of summer flowers and lilacs. The
white tin metal building stands on the edge of the woods. The squirrels climb over the building
as if they were children playing in the yard. A few clashes of sticks and acorns across the tin
roof sound as waves against the ocean. I look further to the side and see a fresh vegetable
garden growing. The beautiful deep green colour of the garden has specks of yellow, red and
orange breaking through. The garden has a wide variety of vegetables growing, the tomato
plants stand tall as if they are the leader in the group? The cucumber and potato plants crawl
across the ground as if they are sneaking up on the other plants. The birds fly over to the feeder
near the garden for morning breakfast and sing in melody with one another. The blue jays play
with each other almost in a small fight to see which one can get to the feeder first. A few other
birds come to the feeder and then jump away as if one of the other birds scare them. The
squirrel's notice the birds at the feeder and sneak as close to them as possible before they fly
away to a hiding place. The animals at play bring a sense of peace to the backyard and allow
me to realize the simplicity of life.

After some time passes, the clouds start to move quicker and change in colour to a dark dusty
grey. I hear the rumble of thunder in the distance. The air starts to smell of summer and all its
delight. The wind moves the tree branches in a more even direction as the tree branches crack
and whistle. The squirrels move swiftly to take cover from the hot summer shower. As I sat
under my umbrella, I heard the ticking of drops upon my porch and the small streams of water
as a river in the mountains. The garden perks up as to take in every single drop of water for
their thirsty branches. The tomato plants are standing even taller and the other vegetables seem
to be spreading out even wider. After the rain has slowed, the garden looks a deeper, richer
green and the grass has a sparkling glow. The clouds start to slow as if like a turtle moving in

the grass. The baby blue sky is showing a small hint of white bright light. As I look to the sky, I
see the sun trying to peek through from behind the clouds. The trees seem to be slowing down
from the wind and a sense of calm comes over the woods. All the green plants in the woods
seem to have enjoyed that small drink of water and have fresh new vibrant looks. A smell of
freshness from the summer rain makes me ready to start my day with a new sense of joy. The
backyard has come alive before my eyes. The beauty of this yard has so many different depths
to it and my senses are overfilled with excitement. Also, a feeling of peace and tranquillity
comes from observing my backyard. The sounds, sights, and smell are most amazing. As I take
one last moment to reflect on the beauty, I realize that the secrets of this earth you may never
know unless you take the time to stop and look.

Expository Essay Example

Poor Study Habits

Studying is an art. Many students do not know how to do it properly though. It seems as if they
are always behind schedule when it comes to handing in homework, or preparing for a test. If
they knew how to increase the effectiveness of their studying habits, they would feel less
stressed and more on top of their deadlines. In order to educate students on how to study well,
the following paragraphs will discuss five poor study habits that lead students into trouble, and
how to tackle these defects. Procrastination is perhaps the most dangerous habit students
develop. They put off their assignments until it is almost impossible to do well on them.
According to the University of the People, “There are many anti-procrastination strategies you
can adopt, from better time management to being more organized, following to-do-lists, to
asking someone to check up on your progress” (“5 Bad Study Habits To Drop And 4 Good Ones
To Keep”). However, to not procrastinate is more of a personal choice. Inner motivation is more
important than outer motivation. Following motivation, each person studies better in certain
places. Libraries, cafes, studying rooms in schools, and more, are often referred to as
conductive places to dive into your assignments. The University of the People states that, “Rule
of thumb: If you fall asleep when you read in a place (say, the couch or your bed), this isn’t the
best studying place for you. The same goes for a place with a lot of distractions, like the beach”
(“5 Bad Study Habits To Drop And 4 Good Ones To Keep”). The best thing to do is to practice
studying in various locales and see what works best for your brain. You will never know for sure
where you study best until you try out many different locations. Along the same lines with
atmosphere, you should know how to get rid of distractions when studying. There is nothing
worse than something breaking your flow when you are working on your assignments.
According to Oxford Learning, “Study distractions can either be internal or external. Internal
study distractions include physiological needs and emotional thoughts. External study
distractions include technology and people” (“Homework & Study Distraction Tips From The
Experts”). This means students need to have peace inside and out. When you study, you need
to get into a certain mindframe and space that is conducive to studying. As a backing for your
studying, you should take neat notes. A lot of students mess around when taking down notes.
But, the key is taking accurate, readable, and comprehensive notes in order to make your
studying and completing assignments easier (Garcia, Lori). With great notes, you can recall

information from class in a cinch and memorize data your brain needs to use for tests. Also,
taking good notes during class keeps you focused on the learning process rather than on your
friend’s jokes, for instance. Having good attention during class can change your grade. You may
have fantastic notes, but maybe you are studying with the wrong people. You could be hanging
out with friends that distract you, or who are not as serious as you are in studies. You should
pick co-studiers who are about at the same grade level or higher in class. There is no need to
be rude and say to someone, “your grade is a C, so I can’t study with you,” but do your best to
choose wisely. It might even be wise to choose to study with someone you do not know
personally, but is from your same class, or studies the same subject. Getting studying done is
notoriously difficult for students. But if they remember to not procrastinate, find the best place to
study, throw out distractions, take clear and comprehensive notes, and do their work with
appropriate people, they can achieve the grades they desire.

Argumentative essays

Examples of argumentative essays

Sample argumentative essay: A University in Every Town

The Turkish government is planning to open 15 new universities in developing provinces
of Turkey. This is a response to pressure coming from local MPs who in turn voice the
demands of their constituencies. However, while the already existing 85 universities are
wrestling with financial and academic difficulties, it does not seem to be a good idea to
add new universities to the system of higher education.

First of all, the new universities will experience staffing problems. That is, they will have
difficulty finding faculty that are qualified to teach in these budding universities. In our
country the number of academicians who meet the academic requirements is limited. New
universities will have two choices: either to draw from the existing pool or to employ under
qualified people. To attract those instructors from other universities they will have to offer
attractive incentives . However, since these will be state universities they will not have the
necessary funds and most academics will be unwilling to go to small town universities
where academic and life standards are below par. The only venue open to these
universities will be to employ local professionals or under qualified instructors. The
inevitable result will follow: a drop in the quality of education.

In addition to recruitment problems, small town universities will have financial difficulties.
The funds allocated to them by the state will not be enough to build from scratch all the
facilities that make a university a "real university". A university has more than a few
classrooms. Students will need dorms, gyms, cafeterias, sports facilities, labs and
computers for their academic and social development. How many new universities can
claim to have only a few of these facilities on their campuses? The result will be a small
town "university" which consists of a sole building that houses classrooms and offices,
and nothing more.

It is argued that the establishment of a university in a developing town will contribute to
the development of local culture, community and economy. However, if a university is
wrestling with staff recruitment problems, or if it cannot solve its financial difficulties it
means that it cannot be of any help to the local community or economy either. It will only
employ a few locals, provide substandard education to a few local youth, and it will not
fulfill the aim for which it was initially established.

Universities are institutions of higher education and they need to provide education to
satisfy certain standards. In order to provide such quality education they need to have
qualified teachers and must provide minimum social and academic facilities. Since funds
are limited, we should raise the standard of our existing universities first. Only after that,
should we invest in establishing new ones.

NCAA brings roughly 1 Billions in revenue a year but college athletes did not receive any
money. People who believe that college athletes need to get pay will encourage them remain in
college longer and turn pro quickly.Supporters of this point to Zion Williamson, the duke
basketball superstar, who during his freshman year get sustained a serious knee injury. Even he
enjoyed playing with duke it wasn't worth risking injury and ending his career and the program
wasn't paying him.In 2018, the NCAA striped the university of Louisviselle men’s basketball
team of its 2013 national championship title because it was discovered coaches were using sex
workers to entice recruits to join the team. By paying salaries and putting their salaries out in
open , the NCAA could end the illegal and underhanded ways some schools and coaches try to
entire athletics to join.

CONCLUSION

People who argue the idea of paying college athletes believe that practices could disastrous for
college sports. It could also ruin the tight camaraderie of many college teams if players become
more jealous that certain teammates are making more money.

Adding a salary to that would result in a college athletic systems where only a small handful
athletes are paid by handful of schools .Continuing to offer the current level of benefits to

student athletes makes it possible for as many people to benefit from and enjoy college sports
as possible.

Descriptive writing is a type of essay that required students to describe something like
objects, things, places, emotion, experiences, situations, and more in details. In descriptive
writing, students did not ‘tell’ the readers that the sky is blue but instead, ‘show’ them that the
sky is blue.

There are tips on how to write a good descriptive essay. While writing this kind of essay,
sometimes students are challenged to use their imagination to create a good descriptive essay
as there may be situations that they have not gone through that they need to write. However,
while using their imagination, students need to make sure that the essay they are writing looks
logical and seems real. A good writing can make the readers feel like they are in the situations

that they are reading. ‘Transfer’ the experience in the essay to the readers so that they feel
close to the experiences by providing necessary amount of details in your writing by using the 5
senses of human body. In writing the descriptive essay, students need to include all five senses
to describe what is going on during that time so that the readers will feel interested in your story.
these sendssory details is also called sensory language which show what do you smell, what do
you see, what do you hera, what do feel and taste. The first sense is sight. In describing, sight
express the appearance of things like the colors or shape of things. The second one is hearing
sense where in writing, it is used to describe sound. Sound can be described as low or high by
using onomatopoeia sounds such as tingtong, boom and many more. The third sense is smellig
sense which describe the smells of something whether it smells good or not. The fourth sense is
taste sense where students tells the taste of something they eat or drink. They can describe it
by teling if the meals is delicious or not and give more details by using words like sweet, sour,
salty, bitter and so on. The last sense is touch. Students can describe the temperature or texture
of thigs that they touched. For instance, if they touch hug someone, they can describe the feels
during the hug such as the body temperat of the person with the word warm or cold.

In order master in descriptive writing, students need to know how to write descriptive
essay. The first thing students shouldknow is Decide a fixed topic. With a specific topic, students
get to focus on the certain topic only so that the students are easier to eliminate points and
elaboration that is not necessary with the topic written. While choosing a topic, make sure that it
is appropriate with the imaginative level or experiences of the students to ensure that the writing
turn out to be real and does not look illogical to the readers (in case the topic is fully based on
the imagination and not experiences). The second one is Take a while to plan what you are
going to write. Once you have choose a certain topic to write, list out the ideas based on the
decided topic before you start your writing. By doing this, Easier for students to compile all the
information and the writing will look organized. In addition, it can refrain students from repeating
the same idea twice. The third one is make sure to use clear language. Precisely choose words
that you are going to put in the essay so that it will bw easier for readers will understand things
you are trying to describe. Good words choice will lead to relevancy of the essay. The last one is
students need to be detailed. In writing the essay, you surely want the readers to feel like they
are in the part of the story that you are writing. Try to reach out the readers as much as you can
by giving details information about the situation that is happening in the writing. You can include
the 5 sensory details that have been explained above.

Descriptive essay has its own way in being written. Although basic essay format is used
in writing it, students still need to take note on what should be writtwn in it to make sure the
essay came out perfectly. Descriptive essay is split into 3 parts which are introduction, body and
conclusion. However, there is one more step in writing a good descriptive essay which is
rechecking the essay. The first step which is writing introduction. Just like another essay,
descriptive writing should have an introduction. As it is the first thing the readers are going to
look at after the title, it should be impressive to make sure it is interesting enough for the
readers to continue reading the essay until the end. Try to put hook sentences such as
suspense situation. In addition, do remember to not put too many description about the thing
you are going to write as you are going to put the it in the body part of the essay. The second

step is writing the bosy parts. The body parts are where all the main points, such as climax, are
written in it. Only focus on one point in each body paragraph as you are going to elaborate
about it in details. then, make your body paragraphs link with each others by putting transition
words as it will help your essay to flow into the following paragraphs. Conjunctions and
prepositions are known as transition words and when inserting the transition words, make sure it
is suitable with the sentences. While writing, do ensure that the consistency of length for each
paragraphs are the same. The third step is writing conclusion. While writing, keep in mind that
your sentences should show hints that it is the ending paragraph so that the readers will know
that they are about to reach at the end of the essay. The conclusion part or ending paragraph of
the essay will stay the longest in the readers’ mind so make sure that you come up with unique
ending as it will leave strong impression to them. In addition, they will remember your essay
even when they come across your essay and read it again. The last step is Recheck the Essay.
After finish writing the essay, review the essay. While rechecking your essay, put yourself as the
reader so that you will get a better outcome in reviewing. When reviewing, there are things that
you need to check such as grammatical errors, inappropriate phrases or points, spelling errors
and most importantly check whether the essay seems to make sense and is easy to understand
with the word choice that you put in the writing. You also should consider checking the
arrangement of the phrases and situations that you are describing so that it will not be confusing
to the readers.

Draft (errors)

In learning all the possible essays that are taught to be used in education,I believe that narrative
is the most used in writing. Therefore, the main point is what is a narrative essay? Why is it
often used in writing? At first glance, a narrativeessay may sound like you are writing a story.
Like the stories you are used to reading, a narrative essay is generally but not always
chronological and follows a clear line from start to finish. If the story jumps into the past, all the
details go back to a specific theme, which is demonstrated by your choice of motif. However,
unlike many creative stories, your narrative essay must be fact-based. This does not mean that
all the details should be pure and free of the imagination, but that you should not completely
make up the events of yournarrative essay. There is nothing wrong with making up a person's
words if you can't remember them clearly, but you shouldn't say they said something they didn't
even come close to saying. Another big difference between narrative essays and creative
fiction, as well as other types of essays, is that narrative essays are motive. A motive is a

predominant idea or topic that you establish before you writing your essay. As you build your
narrative, it will flow into your subject to create a complete picture of the subject. For example,
let's say you want to write an essay about how your first day in high school helped you establish
your identity. You might be talking about events like being seated in the cafeteria, trying to
describe yourself in five words, breaking the ice in math class, or unsure what to do over lunch
because going out isnot acceptable.

All of these ideas flow into the central modified of identity creation. It is important to remember
that while a narrative essay is generally told chronologically and is intended to be read as a
story, it is not purely entertainng. A narrative essay presents your topic by consciously
interweaving the motifs through the events, scenes, and happenings thus the details. While a
narrative essay can be entertaining, its main purpose is to tell a complete story based on a
central meaning. Unlike other forms of essays, it is perfectly okay to even expect to use
first-person narration in narrative essays. When writing a story about yourself it goes without
saying that you will be refeerring to yourself in the essay. It's okay to use other perspectives as
well, like the third or even the second person, but this should only be done if it better suits your
subject. In general, your narrative essay should have a first-person perspective. Your reason is
to read, but you don't have to change your mind about anything. If they don't understand your
point of view, consider stepping up the presentation of the events and the descriptions that
support your subject. Narrative essays also share some charaeristics with analytical essays, in
which the meaning of a book, film, or other medium is gained. However, narrative essays work
differently - they don't try to make sense of an existing text, they use an event. You've
experimented to convey meaning in an analytical essay, you examine the narrative, while in a
narrative essay, you create a narrative. The making of a narrative essay is also slightly different
from that of other essays. Usualllly, instead of grouping specific arguments into paragraphs or
sections, you get your point of view in chronological order. Going back the example of an essay
about your first day of school and its impact on identity formation, it would be strange to upset
events even if ignorance of what to do after lunch is like aidea than choosing where to sit.
Rather thanorganizing yourself to get your information across with maximum impact, tell your
story the way it happened and use specific details to back up your topic.

Furthermore, how do we identify narrative essays? Can we detect the difference between
narrative from other writings? Well here’s a tip on how to recognize the differences. First, each
narrative has five elements that define and shape the narrative which are plot, setting, character,
conflict, and theme. These elements are rarely mentioned in a story but they are revealed to
readers in the story, subtly or not, but the writer must understand the elements in order to put his
story together. The plot is the thread of events that appear in a story. This is the crux of your
story. Where is everything going and what happens when we get there? This can often involve
any conflict, but it is usually a larger "main" part of your story.. Next, isthe setting which is the
location of events in time and place. Thus, the setting of a story is really what determines its
genre as well as its learning curve. The learning curve refers to how much readers need to learn
about the world and as to how different it is from our own. The setting adds to this extensively

because if your book is in a new world, more is worldbuilding is necessary, which means it will
bleed heavily into your narrative. Hence, characters are the people in the story who drive the
storyline, are influenced by the storyline, or even are spectators of the storyline. The characters
are essential. It’s extremely difficult to tell a story without them, as character development is one
of the best parts in narrative writing. Think of your characters as the driving force of the
narrative. Sometimes the character chosen is unreliable and therefore has holes in throughout
the story. Conflict is the problem that is being resolved. Other than that, the plots need a
moment of tension, which implies some difficulties in the resolution required. This part of
narrative writing is where the tension come from. Beside that , conflict of any form whether it’s
between characters, elements in your setting or even in your plot it is essential for not only a
good book but for narrative writing. Next up is themes, these are embedded into your story even
if you’re not trying to. Narrative writing tells a story and with any stories, there are lessons
learned and these become the themes of your story. Whether you mean to or not, your own
thoughts about the world and important values bleed into your work within the narrative writing.
Lastly, a narrative arc which is the story structure the narrative takes. This includes things like
the inciting incident, key milestones like the first slap and second slap, the climax, the resolution,
and even nuances like the character arc. Withinthe points given above narrative are easily
pointed out to the writer. Therefore, students can write narrative essays efficiently in their writing
for better results.

However, there’s a question why students need to know about narrative essays rather than
other essays like argumentative, expository, narrative, ad descriptive essays. Well, let me
provoke the students why narrative is the chosen type of essays in writing. There are masses of
reasons why it’s vital for youngsters to study narrative writing. Let's begin with the first point,
which is to stimulate their creativeness and to foster their creative expression. Beginning in
kindergarten, the State Standards ask colge students to apply a combination of drawing,
dictating and writing to inform a tale approximately of an occasion or set of occasions they
learned and the way they felt about it. As college students continue through standard school,
they have to start to use dialogue, descriptive information and different strategies to make their
testimonies extra thrilling and engaging. Children ought to discover ways to use their
imaginations to suppose the outdoors of the the field andcraft particular and thrilling
testimonies. Thus, it improves reading and develops a better understanding of languages.

Next, narrative writing permits college students to specific their tales creatively to assist college
students make clear their thinking, and train them to specific that during writing in a prepared
way. Moreover, writing narrative essays assists them look for identity along with it facilitates
for them to discover exclusive characters and settings. In addition, the skills that the students
will adapt within this narrative writing are unique. The purpose of a story tale is to seize the
reader’s interest from the very beginning as it attrcts them into the tale. Hence, elaborating the
detail helps students want to discover ways to tricky on tale elements, which include the
characters and th setting, and apprehend why it’s vital to tricky. Making them create suspense,

or tale tension, that vital to maintain the reader analyzing the tale. Students want to analyze the
strategies for constructing suspense into their tale plot. A compete principal event the center of
the tale is the primary event, a part of the narrative writing that info what the tale is clearly
about. This phase desires to be informed through action, dialogue, descriptions, mind and
feelings. Story endings the stop of the tale desires to carry an end to the primary event, in which
the individual displays feelings, hopes and selections they may be making from the primary
event.

Nevertheless, the next topic is about how to score in exams using narrative essays. Can using
narrative will give you good maks? Writing a narrative essay is a necessary skill for field
research. Rather than summarising your experience, it presents it to your reader and allows
them to draw their own conclusions. The narrative essay makes its point by subtly guiding the
reader, as opposed to battering them as a rhetorical essay would or providing in-depth analysis
as a critical essay would in depth analysis essay. Tips on how to score using narrative essays
are clarity. Complex words and syntax impede clarity and should be avoded between sentences
and paragraphs, idas should be clearly distributed. For example, despite the fact that I had
never been to the races before, I was both excited and nervous because of the type of people
who attended. I'd never been to a horse race before. I was excited to go, but also a little
nervous, because I didn't know what to expect from the people at the track.

Don't go into detail about your own movements. As an example, as I walked in the door, I
noticed a television. When I looked around, I noticed posters on the walls. As I went further in I
noticed everyone was watching. Avoid writing in the second person. The writer's personal
experience with the events described is an important part of the narrative essay. Dynamic word
choice is essential for capturing the reader's attention.Try not to sound too clinical. Use the
same slang, idioms, and turns of phrase that you would in conversation. Avoid passive
structures. limit reference. The narrative essay is an eager rhetorical device as it permits the
readers to draw their personal conclusions, however falling into the traps above deprive it of its
effectiveness. By averting those errors, you may subtly manual your reader to your favored
direction.

In addition, every piece of narrative writing should have a number of distinct characteristics.
Characters, also known as the people or subjects of the storey, are required in all stories. In
order to create a developed storey, specific of characters are usually required. For example,
each storey will frequently have a protagonist, also known as the or heroine. This is the story's
main character. There is frequently an antagonist, who is a character who oposes the
protagonist. Overall, each storey requires characters to propel the plot forward or react to the
plot's events. Last but not least, every storey, in addtion to characters, must have a plot, or
events that occur. Consider your favourite book. What if none of the events occur? The conflict
is one of the most important aspcts of a storey. Any struggle between opposing forces is defined
as a conflict. Consider a storey in which there are no problems. The characters simply lived their
happy lives, with no problems or difficulties to contend with. Would you be interested in that

storey? Most likely ot. Conflict is essential for generating interest in stories. The primary conflict
is usually between the rotagonist and the antagonist, but this is not always the case. Struggles
can exist between societies, within characters, or even with natural occurrences. Internal and
external conflict are the two basic types of conflict. Internal conflicts are internal conflicts that
occur within a character.

EXAMPLE 2:
MEETING A FAMOUS PERSON
I believe that everyone in this world has their own favourite artist and so do I . My favourite
artist will always be Lana Del Rey .I love her because she made great songs and is also a
good role model. She’s a very talented artist. This is because she writes her own songs and
has a unique voice.I have a lot of pictures of her and it is my dream to attend her concert one
day. Meeting famous people always shocks me because when we usually see them on the
screen or the internet but then they are right in front of you.I can’t believe that I was able to

meet Lana Del Rey in person. It is the moment that I treasure the most and one of the best
experiences I ever had in my life.

Last month,me and my friends were eating at this famous restaurant not knowing that it’s
owned by Lana Del Rey. I can say that the place was lavish and luxurious. All the food is
good too even though it's quite pricey but it was worth it. To be honest I rarely get the chance
to dine in a luxurious restaurant like this and it was my first time where I was at a place
known to be the spot for celebrities and superstars. So I was enjoying my time while I was
eating there.

While I was busy eating and chatting with my friends, suddenly I heard loud screams and
everyone went crazy. Everybody who’s at the restaurant was taking their phones out of their
pocket and busy taking pictures of this one person . I was clueless and had no idea what was
going on so I just continued eating my dish. One of my friends tapped my shoulder hurriedly
and one I turned my head. There I saw my favourite artist , Lana Del Rey. I almost dropped
my plate because I was mesmerized by her appearance. She went inside the restaurant and
sat next to my table. My friends convinced me to go approach her but since I was very shy at
that time I was reluctant. My friend persuaded me again saying that this chance only comes
once in a while. I plucked up courage and I approached her at her table. She greeted me very

Once me and my friends were done eating we decided to leave the restaurant. I met her
again and told her I am her biggest fan and how her songs always relate to my situation. I
give her some courage words so that she will be more motivated in producing her songs.
She thanked me for the support that I gave heR and she offered me her autograph. I was
speechless and excited. She was always smiling and she looked even more gorgeous in
person. She also asked me a few questions about myself and I told her briefly about my

Turning spiritually, now I will visit a brief memory of meeting the most famous musician in

humble and pleasant character. She said that she will look for me once I attend her concert.I
also thanked my friend for giving me the courage to greet her. Before I left the place , I told
her that it was nice meeting her. She waved us farewell while we left the restaurant. I could
say that it was such an unforgettable moment .Meeting Lana Del Rey taught me that we

need to always be nice to everyone and we need to pay attention to others even when we

are known worldwide. That was my experience meeting famous people and I was so happy

because I was able to catch up with my idol.

Going to the salon( descriptive writing )

17 September 2021. Upon commencing my eyes as I awaken, I stretch at the same time as
taking a look at the cursing clock that appears to hate me. I name my clock that due to the fact
each day it appears as though it desires to wake me up at a later time every day. Then as my
mind begins to acquire, I understand that it’s the weekend, because of this that I can sooner or
later loosen up. I advised myself that when the weekend comes, I want to get my nails
accomplished and sooner or later loosen up and release all of the pressure and tension. In my
mind, an afternoon of rest is an afternoon in the salon wherein you stroll in and appear to be all
smiles, despite understanding that there may be the maximum numbing door and the
tremendous and extended submitting that the nail artists appear to do. So, my day started after I
strolled through the door of the salon, I got a warm welcome from the standard employees.

It appears as though I might be having a horrific day after which having a person greet you with
a grin can flip your frown upside down, simply as rapidly because the moon units and the solar
begins off evolved to rise. Nothing is higher than having a person virtually trying to be pleasant
to me. Not the handiest, they greeted me with a warm smile however as I waited as they
completed different customers' nails, they set me down with multiple magazines to make the
time fly through. Along with the welcoming greeting that I acquired, I couldn't help but smell the
aroma of alcohol from the nail polish remover and nail polish. It’s nearly as though it becomes
burning my nostril and taking my breath away. As time went through the door of polish, the route
became greater bearable for my nostril to take.

Then the door of creams that have been being messaged might be smelled for the duration of
the store. This made me feel like the door nearly experienced trickery due to the fact that at one
second my nostril felt it become burning then the cooling sensations of the creams made my
nostril experience particularly flawlessly fine. It sooner or later has become time for it to be my
flip to get my nails accomplished. While I stood up and sat withinside the chair I was given to dip
my arms withinside the remover and get all of the colours eliminated from my fingers, my nostril
started to burn once more however having my arms and nails messaged all through the burning
took all of it away.

While she started to reduce and report away, I should experience the mild abrasions that have
been carried out to my nails. Sometimes I should experience a mild reduction to my pores and
skin like a touch pinch. As I got here throughout the colours of stupid polish or florescent
extravagant polish, I concept approximately the temper that I might need and the colour that
regarded to give an explanation for me. I am a quite mellow individual however I love vibrant
colours which are substantial so I picked a vibrant crimson for my fingernails and toenails. So,
as I was given my fingernails completed, I was given the maximum first-rate pedicure of my
lifestyles. If something could make an individual's day it’s that first-rate messaging chair and the

little bathtub of warm water to vicinity your feet. After the first-rate scrubbing, I started to
experience the creams placed on after which quickly after the nail polish on my toes. This made
for a first-rate enjoyable hour and placed my day properly into the vicinity.

In conclusion, after all of the uncommon senses that I learned all through my appointment, it
made me understand that I am so grateful I can experience and open up the first-rate matters
that lifestyles present for us. I realize that my appointment usually makes me feel comfortable
and equipped for something despite all of the bizarre smells and all pricks to the pores and skin.
However what makes the day higher is the nice and cozy and comforting welcome I get from
every other individual. These are my stories and the manner I experience approximately a nail
appointment

Skills vs education of knowledge

Education structures are everywhere in the international community and are primarily based
totally on the concept that scholars get and recollect facts from lecturers and books. These
structures take a look at this information with standardized checks which evaluate college
students to every different type . The most effective take a look at the form of facts that is
feasible to a degree in checks. The intention is gaining facts, now no longer growing capabilities
via means of which to apply and make facts. Unlike the vintage fashion of training wherein
humans remembered matters with a view to skip checks and get better ratings than different
college students, the present-day international requires a brand-new form of training wherein
the focal point is deep know-how, creativity, and facts control capabilities.

Most training structures withinside the international are designed to make college
students recollect matters. One purpose is that colleges sense the want to evaluate college
students. They try this via means of giving checks. They need in an effort to supply grades and
determine which college students are clever and which are now no longer. They feature as a
sorting mechanism for society. From the earliest grades, college students are placed on tracks
with a view to determining their futures. Another purpose colleges want to make college
students recollect matters is that via means of doing so they'll have the ability to check their
information and decide in the event that they recollect or now no longer. They accept as true
that if college students recollect matters its miles similar to know-how the one's matters. Schools
additionally want to impart information due to the fact this way, despite the fact that college
students could have specific character capabilities, they are able to all have equal information.

Einstein said “Imagination is greater essential than information. Knowledge is limited.
Imagination encircles the international” (Needle, 2007). All the information withinside the
international community is in vain until you're capable of using facts in innovative ways.
Knowledge is what different humans have created. Understanding is all approximately what you
consider something. Everybody sees, hears, feels, and thinks differently. No humans withinside

the international community have the equal know-how of the equal thing. It is not possible to
provide checks from a factor of view. Because of this, checks are illogical. The most effective
purpose checks exist is to label college students as “clever” or “stupid.” There are many types of
intelligence, however. One of the maximum well-known researchers withinside the subject of
intelligence, Gardner, observed at least seven specific types of intelligence (Gardner, 1999).
Intelligence and know-how are related. Unfortunately, checking the most effective degree is one
form of intelligence.

In the present-day international, capabilities are greater essential than information. If
someone is aware of many facts, it's impressive, however now it is no longer very useful. It is of
plenty extra significance in an effort to locate facts quickly, arrange those facts, examine and
recognize the primary ideas, however, specific portions of facts together (synthesize), and
create new facts. Together those capabilities make what we name facts control and innovation,
the capabilities that are maximumly preferred withinside the enterprise internationally.

Most humans withinside the international community accept as true that training is ready,
remembering matters to take checks which degree one’s overall performance towards different
humans who've studied the equal facts. However, this concept does not fit the fact of the
present-day international wherein information is much less essential than creativity and deep
know-how. To achieve success withinside the age of technology, training has to consciousness
on supporting college students advantage facts control and innovation capabilities.

FINAL OF DESCRIPTIVE WRITING

Descriptive writing is a type of essay that requires students to describe something like objects,
things, places, emotion, experiences, situations, and more in detail. In descriptive writing,
students did not ‘tell’ the readers that the sky is blue but instead, ‘show’ them that the sky is
blue.

‘Transfer’ the experience in the essay to the readers so that they feel
close to the experiences by providing the necessary amount of details in your writing by using
the 5 senses of the human body. In writing the descriptive essay, students need to include all

five senses to describe what is going on during that time so that the readers will feel interested
in your story. These sensory details are also called sensory language which show what do you
smell, what do you see, what do you hear, what do feel and taste. The first sense is sight. In
describing, sight expresses the appearance of things like the colors or shape of things. The
second one is the hearing sense where in writing, it is used to describe sound. Sound can be
described as low or high by using onomatopoeia sounds such as tingtong, boom and many
more. The third sense is the smelling sense which describes the smells of something whether it
smells good or not. The fourth sense is taste sense where students tell the taste of something
they eat or drink. They can describe it by telling if the meals are delicious or not and give more
details by using words like sweet, sour, salty, bitter and so on. The last sense is touch. Students
can describe the temperature or texture of things that they touched. For instance, if they hug
someone, they can describe the feelings during the hug such as the body temperature of the
person with the word warm or cold.

In order to master writing a descriptive essay, students need to know how to write a good
descriptive essay. The first thing students should know is to decide a fixed topic. With a specific
topic, students get to focus on the certain topic only so it is easier to eliminate points and
elaboration that is not necessary with the topic written. While choosing a topic, make sure that it
is appropriate with the imaginative level or experiences of the students to ensure that the writing
turns out to be real and does not look illogical to the readers (in case the topic is fully based on
the imagination and not experiences). The second one is to take a while to plan what you are
going to write. Once you have chosen a certain topic to write, list out the ideas based on the
decided topic before you start your writing. By doing this, Easier for students to compile all the
information and the writing will look organized. In addition, it can refrain students from repeating
the same idea twice. The third one is to make sure to use clear language. Precisely choose
words that you are going to put in the essay so that it will be easier for readers to understand
things you are trying to describe. Good word choices will lead to relevancy of the essay. The last
one is that students need to be detailed. In writing the essay, you surely want the readers to feel
like they are in the part of the story that you are writing. Try to reach out to the readers as much
as you can by giving detailed information about the situation that is happening in the writing. You
can include the 5 sensory details that have been explained above.

Descriptive essay has its own way of being written. Although basic essay format is used
in writing it, students still need to take note on what should be written in it to make sure the
