Every educators in this world want do the best for their students’ future. According to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk,
the founding father of the Republic of Turkey, he said that a good teacher is like a candle because it consumes
itself to light the way for others. Teachers are like our second parents in school because they play significant
role in students’ life. They not only teach us in academics and extracurricular in school but teachers are also
responsible to teach the students about life lessons for shaping the students’ future. This is because most of
the children of working parents are spent more time with their teachers than their parents. Besides, there are
also the students that have broken family or some of them also do not have parents and live with their relatives.
So, the teacher must play important role to help this kind of students and always be there for them through thick
and thin. Thus, the children will learn many things from their teachers than their parents. Being a good teacher is
my dream since I was in primary school because I love to help people in studies especially my friends at school.
As a teacher to be, I hope that I can make my students happy and have an interest to learn in my class.

Firstly, I will be a teacher who is always positive and supportive for my students. Giving encouragement and
motivation to the students is very important to build their confidence. For instance, I will teach, guide and give
them opportunities to recognize their talent until they success. Besides, I will make sure all my students get
involved in the classroom as some of students are introverts which they would rather to be alone instead of
joining with other people to do something. So, I have to learn how to handle these introvert students such as
constantly interact and communicate with them, giving them opportunities to give opinion, and so on. This can
help them to be more courageous and allow them to feel accomplished and feel like they are important part in
the classroom. In addition, I also must be tolerant with my students because tolerance is very important to
improve the social quality between teachers and the students at school. For example, if the student do
mistakes, don’t judge them without asking the truth but encourage them to learn from the mistakes. This is
because the student who successfully fixes the mistake experiences personal success and this will increase
their motivation and self- esteem.

Secondly, I would like to be a caring and friendly person to my students because I want my students feel loved
and give them a sense of belonging when they are with me. I will treat my students like my own child as my
teacher did to me when I was in secondary school. She inspired me to be like her because as student they love
when their teacher love and treat them like their children. Besides, being a good listener is important to every
teachers for help their students solve their problems. As a teacher, we must concern about our students such
as their condition, their family background and others. We should make our students comfortable with us to
share their problems. Thus, teachers enable to understand their students better and strengthen the teacher-
student relationships. Communication is also important between teacher and students. As a teacher I will be
open minded person while conversing with my students. For instance, I will give them full of my attention, and
give empathetic responses to them while they are talking to me. So, In this way can help the students
understand that I valued them and their feelings. In advance, we should give good advises to them to face their

problems in their life. According to African Proverb, listening is the most difficult skill to learn and the most
important to have. Although there are some students scared or shy to share their problems, at least as a teacher
I must understand them and help them as much as I can.

Besides help my students to achieve their goals, I also have my goals to achieve which is I want to be an
excellent teacher. For example, I want to be a good leader, hardworking and creative person. Leadership is very
important because teachers need to be leaders for their students in school such as the skills to handle the
students, the skills of give instructions well to the students and many more. Then, as a teacher I also must
hardworking to achieve my goals such as making an innovation in my school. Being a teacher also must be
creative especially while teaching in school. This is important to avoid my students getting bored when learning
in my class. For example, I will use various of teaching methods in the classroom such as playing some games
while learning, do some group activities, use technology in the classroom and many more. So, the students will

enjoy learning in the class.

Last but not least, I want to be a good example to my students because as a teacher, I have a responsibility to
teach my students by setting a good example to them. According to Gail Goldwin, a good teaching is 1/4
preparation and 3/4 theatre. This is because, teachers is the role model for the students to look up to and to
learn from. For example, as a teacher I will show full of respect to my students even though they are younger
than me. Usually, all teachers expect their students will be respec to them, but some of them not realize that is a
two-way-street. For example, there also the teacher with bad attitude such as yell and scream to their students,
ignore the students, and never smiling and being friendly with their students. For me, as a teacher this bad of
attitude should be avoid because the students can be hate the teachers and do not respect their teachers. So, I
hope that I can be the best teacher for my students soon.
