About Us Iowa Premium Flip Book

About Us Iowa Premium Flip Book

Iowa Premium is a regional beef company exclusively offering
premium family farm raised corn-fed Black Angus beef.

1

Where Our Story Begins

Our well-marbled, flavorful beef is a tribute to the heritage, tradition and passion for producing premium beef.

Our story begins with the partnership of two families. The families of farm-feeders who raise cattle and grow the crops
that feed them. The family of employees at Iowa Premium who select, trim and package our beef. Together, we are
dedicated to providing the highest quality beef in the country.
Iowa’s iconic reputation for producing exceptional beef is rooted in its farming heritage and stems from its ideal set of
natural resources —deep rich topsoil, temperate climate and plentiful rainfall. These conditions are perfect for farm
families, fields of corn and Black Angus cattle to thrive — the trifecta when it comes to raising premium beef.

Our Beef comes from Farm Families

Farm families in Iowa and surrounding Midwest neighbors have been
sustainably and responsibly raising cattle for generations.
The tradition of growing crops and raising livestock go hand-in-hand in this
part of the country. Our farmers grow the corn and forages they feed their
cattle thus the name farm-feeders.

All cattle have been born, raised and processed in the Corn and cattle are a sustainable

turn cattle manure adds nutrients
back to the soil to grow next year’s
crop. This process is natural,
renewable and sustainable.

Our Midwest Family Feedyards

The synergy between raising cattle and growing corn goes back for generations. Cattle feeding is on a smaller scale
and along with growing crops is part of a traditional diversified family farm.
Time-honored husbandry practices coupled with the farmer’s attention to cattle care and comfort diminishes stress.
The result --- higher quality beef.

5

Our First Priority

Responsible cattle care is a conviction – a central practice, the right thing to do and a requirement.

Iowa Premium advocates humane and compassionate treatment. Cattle must be 6
handled in a manner that imposes the minimum possible stress - on the farm, in
transport and at our facility. We do not tolerate willful mistreatment.

Cattle care, comfort and security are responsibilities farmers take seriously.
Farmers provide a nutritionally balanced diet, fresh water, and proper facilities
along with attentive daily care to protect the health and well-being of their animals.

Designed with the influence of Dr. Temple Grandin, Iowa Premium’s animal
handling facilities accentuate the natural instincts of cattle to reduce animal
stress. In addition, employees receive low-stress cattle handling training. As a
capstone to our commitment to responsible humane cattle treatment, our facility
undergoes third party animal welfare and handling auditing.

Farmers adhere to the humane handling, care practices and guidelines
of the Beef Quality Assurance program.

Our Hand-Selected Flavorful, Tender Beef

Our cattle procurement team hand-selects only corn-fed
Black Angus beef cattle that exhibit superior beef quality
characteristics from family farm-feeders.

Angus cattle have higher quantity and quality of marbling
than other cattle breeds.

Marbling is a leading indicator of beef’s flavor, tenderness
and juiciness. All are key factors in a remarkable beef eating
experience.

Our beef comes from cattle that
have grazed on grass pastures then finished on a
nutritionally balanced, locally-sourced corn and forage
diet.

Cattle enjoy eating corn and benefit from it’s nutrition.
Corn is an excellent source of energy allowing cattle to
grow and thrive.

What cattle eat influences beef’s flavor. Corn imparts a
bold, rich beefy flavor unmatched by any other grain or
feed stuff.

Everyday Stewards

The original environmentalist, farmers, have a personal stake in
the quality of our environment. It is not just where they raise
cattle, it’s also where they raise their families.

The land is the family’s legacy to pass down to the next
generation. Cattlemen implement practices and technologies to
improve the air, land and water. They continually look for ways
to enrich and enhance the farm for the next generation.

At Iowa Premium, we believe in running facilities responsibly and maintaining
land sustainably. We continually seek ways to conserve and protect our
natural resources.

• Resource management - tracking water, electricity and natural gas usage

• State-of-the-art wastewater treatment system utilizing ultra violet light
disinfection for cleaner water

• Methane capture system from anaerobic lagoons to reduce use of
natural gas
