DOWNTOWN FARMERS MARKET
Clinton Square - 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Tuesdays, June 14 through October 11, 2016
Presented by the Downtown Committee of Syracuse
The Downtown Farmers Market returns for the season Tuesday, June 14, 2016. As the
growing season continues, The Market will feature more than 50 farmers and produce dealers
selling fresh, seasonal vegetables, fruits, nuts, eggs, cheeses, baked goods, flowers, plants,
handcrafted items and more. Some weeks, The Market hosts live entertainment.
As we look forward to the 44th Annual Season, the Downtown Committee will continue to
partner with local organizations to promote wellness and healthy lifestyle programs. The Food
Bank of Central New York will return to offer cooking demonstrations, showing market visitors
how to prepare their fresh produce for meals, as part of the Say Yes program.
During the Market season, subscribers to the Downtown Committee's weekly email newsletter
will receive updates about what's happening at the Downtown Farmers Market, and a schedule
of what's in store for the next Market Day. If you have any suggestions about how we can
improve the Downtown Syracuse Farmers Market, please let us know!

Today we have a bit
of a summer staple

This recipe has just the
perfect proportion of
mayo to potato, so
things don’t get too
mayo-y if you know
what I am saying. That
just ruins potato

One of the best ways Bouncy House
to have fun
Inflatable castles (closed inflatable trampolines, bouncy houses, moon
bounce, moonwalks, or CITs) are temporary inflatable structures and
buildings and similar items that are rented for functions, school and
church festivals and village fetes and used for recreational purposes,
particularly for children. The growth in popularity of moonwalks has led
to an inflatable rental industry which includes inflatable slides, obstacle
courses, games, and more. Inflatable's are ideal for portable
amusements because they are easy to transport and store.

RE/MAX was founded in January 1973 by Dave and Gail
Linger.. The company was established with a
maximum concept, meaning agents would keep nearly all
of their commissions and pay their broker a share of the
office expenses, rather than a share of the commission.
In 1975, Dennis Curtin purchased the first RE/MAX
franchise outside of Missouri. The company had 100
franchises in two years.
It became an annual event. In 1977, RE/MAX opened its
first office outside the U.S. In 1978, the RE/MAX red,
white and blue became the official RE/MAX logo.
In 1994, RE/MAX expanded outside North America with
the establishment of RE/MAX Europe by Canadians Frank
Polzler and Walter Schneider.

Grimes Nation adds Urban Solution
Network Directory to media portfolio
By Sean L. Herring
He can be reached at [email protected]
The man, the myth and a legend among many other football
greats at Syracuse University, Roland Grimes carried the
football for the division one school for three years. Roland
Grimes years at Syracuse University had prepared him well for
the real world. While playing football he earned a bachelor’s
degree in family and community services from the then College
for Human Development and a master’s degree in
rehabilitation/school counseling from the School of Education.
He was also a man ahead of his time. Long before President Obama talked about
participating in public service, Roland Grimes was already immersed in the Syracuse
community. Grimes, along with a former teammate Jerome Hall developed a semi-
pro football team in Syracuse that worked with young men athletic ability as well as
their education and public service commitment. Grimes opened a neighborhood
convenient store and created jobs by hiring community people from the
neighborhood. He worked very closely with another SU graduate Edwin Moss, where
he served as an account manager for a local Syracuse newspaper called Pride of
Syracuse.
Long after those days of carrying the ball in the dome, today
Grimes is an owner, producer and host of a YouTube talk show
called, The Roland Grimes show. Recently, Grimes added an
online magazine to Grimes Nation portfolio, Black Expo online
magazine. The online magazine focuses on promoting and
highlighting small businesses, entrepreneurs, and
professionals in the Washington D.C. area. “This is an
exciting time”, he said. “The opportunity to bring an online
directory to Washington D.C. will allow Grimes Nation to bring
pertinent informational news along with our vision to millions of
households”, he added. Grimes is a leader and a visionary
ahead of his time. If only we can catch up with him.
Grimes is a speaker, freelance writer, and author of a book called American Legacy which you can
purchase on Amazon. You can reached Roland Grimes by email: [email protected]
