2 Jazz emerged in late 19th and early 20th century New Orleans, blending ragtime, blues, and European musical influences. Welcoming Jazz Artist Tim Ishii Farrington High School Health Academy students toured our communities, where employees shared their personal stories, why they chose this work, and what inspires them to stay. Their insight helped students understand the heart and purpose behind serving our kupuna. The students were impressed by the modern, beautiful communities, the thoughtful amenities, and the safeguards that support residents quality of life. Many said they’d love to live here one day, and could even see themselves working here. Inspiring the Next Generation Arcadia was honored to welcome Tim Ishii, nephew of resident Ms. Marcia Wong, for a special musical performance. Tim, Director of Jazz Studies at UT Arlington, performed with four of his friends. We sincerely thank Tim and his friends for sharing their talent with our community and hope to welcome them back soon!
The Honolulu Zoo’s origins date back to 1877, when King David Kalakaua used the area to house 3his personal collection of exotic birds and animals. Arcadia Adult Day Care clients recently embarked on two exciting outings, from discovering the lively attractions of the Honolulu Zoo to enjoying sweet, fresh-baked treats at Tous Les Jours. Arcadia Adult Day Care clients and Arcadia At Home members enjoyed a joint outing to the Hawaii State Library, guided by Library Director Baron Baroza. During the visit, clients and members learned about the building’s rich history. The library is more than 100 years old and is one of Hawaii’s original Carnegie libraries, built through philanthropic support to expand access to public education. Director Baroza introduced the group to the many resources available today, including books, digital services, archives, and community programs.Adventures Around Every Corner Stories Behind the Shelves
