Opening Inauguration Speech By: Wan Muhamad Noor Mata, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and President of the National Association of Thailand. Represented by : Associate Prof Dr Ismail Lutfi Japakiya Economic Adviser, Rector, Fatoni University, Thailand Peace be upon you and may the mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you. 1. All praise and thanks are due to Allah SWT, for with His grace and favor, we are able to gather here at the Opening Ceremony of the ASEAN Halal Expo (AHEX '23), from November 29 to December 3, 2023, at ASEAN MALL, Pattani, Thailand. 2. First and foremost, I express my appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the organizers, UNITI Asia Link Sdn Bhd (UAL) (Export Management Company), in collaboration with One Stop Center Co. Ltd. (Importer Company in Thailand), and UNITI Group Co. Ltd. (Owner and Manager of ASEAN Mall), for inviting me to inaugurate this event. 3. I take pride in the collaboration between Malaysian and Pattani companies that has resulted in the establishment of the world's first Wakaf Mall in South Thailand, which was once a turbulent zone. The ASEAN MALL Wakaf Shopping Center is a significant initiative with a tremendous impact on the Muslim community in Thailand, Malaysia, and worldwide. Ladies and Gentlemen, distinguished guests, 4. The ASEAN MALL Wakaf Shopping Center in Pattani is evidence of the success of the Muslim community in developing a Wakaf project with commercial value. Furthermore, the ASEAN MALL in Pattani, developed based on the Istithmari Wakaf or Investment Wakaf concept, can serve as a model for Wakaf Investment projects globally. 5. What are the benefits of ASEAN MALL? Firstly, it provides employment opportunities for Pattani residents, with approximately 100 workers from Pattani currently employed at ASEAN MALL. Secondly, ASEAN MALL helps Pattani traders develop their businesses, with 40 shops and stalls owned by Pattani locals at ASEAN MALL. Thirdly, ASEAN MALL opens opportunities for anyone to become a Wakaf investor, where investors not only receive Wakaf rewards but also annual dividends. Fourthly, a portion of the income generated from business activities at ASEAN MALL will be allocated to the Wakaf Fund to assist Pattani residents who are eligible for education and basic needs. 6. Therefore, it is crucial for Muslims worldwide to contribute to the success of ASEAN MALL by participating as Wakaf investors, becoming traders at ASEAN MALL, or being regular customers by purchasing products available at ASEAN MALL, as they are guaranteed to be 100% halal. Supporting the advancement of ASEAN MALL means promoting the economic development of the Muslim community. Allah SWT in the Quran says: “And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression.” (Surah Al-Maidah 2) Ladies and Gentlemen, distinguished guests, 7. Since its establishment two (2) years ago, various programs have been organized at ASEAN MALL as a strategy to attract more ASEAN entrepreneurs and Thai citizens to come to South Thailand, engage in business, and shop at ASEAN MALL. In June 2022, the first ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2022 was held. In May 2023, the MAROI Festival was organized, receiving overwhelming response with over 30,000 guests and the participation of more than 100 companies. 3

8. I am also informed that 170 booths are set up for ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2023, and it is expected that more than 50,000 visitors will attend the 5-day expo. The main objective of organizing ASEAN HALAL EXPO is to provide opportunities for entrepreneurs to promote Halal products from Malaysia for export to Thailand and other ASEAN countries. Additionally, Thai entrepreneurs have the opportunity to explore the Malaysian market for their products. ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2023 focuses on 'Business to Business (B2B)' and 'Business to Customer (B2C)' programs, including Halal product sales booths, Halal product promotions, Halal forums, Halal talks, and business matching, business networking, and business pitching from November 29 to December 3, 2023. Wholesalers and buyers from the Thai entrepreneur network and ASEAN countries are expected to participate in ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2023, presenting a significant opportunity for companies across ASEAN, including Thai and Malaysian companies, to export their products internationally. 9. The organization of ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2023 in Pattani, Thailand, involving entrepreneurs from ASEAN countries, especially Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore, aligns with the commitment by the governments of Malaysia and Thailand to resolve conflicts along their border by transforming the area into a trade zone, as agreed during the recent visit of the Prime Minister of Thailand to Kuala Lumpur to meet the Prime Minister of Malaysia. The withdrawal of military forces from southern Thailand, currently in its early stages, will restore peace in the Southern region and aid in boosting domestic investment, attracting foreign investment, and driving economic growth in Southern Thailand, including Pattani. The result will be the well-being of the people and economic and social progress in the region. 10. The organization of ASEAN HALAL EXPO at ASEAN MALL will expedite efforts to enhance economic growth in the trade zone in Southern Thailand and northern Malaysia through business cooperation among entrepreneurs participating in the expo. Ladies and Gentlemen, distinguished guests, 11. The latest statistics show that Malaysia's trade volume with Thailand continues to perform exceptionally well, reaching RM112.42 billion from January to November 2022, increasing by 27.4 percent during the same period in 2021. Thailand is listed as Malaysia's third major trading partner among ASEAN countries, the sixth-largest export destination, and the eighth-largest import source. Malaysia's Halal product exports to Thailand amount to RM1.8 billion and are expected to increase annually. 12. I believe that through ASEAN MALL, the export of Halal products from Malaysia, Thailand, and other ASEAN countries will expand into Indochina and penetrate the global Halal market if ASEAN MALL can serve as a hub for Halal products from ASEAN countries. I suggest the creation of a 'ONE-STOP CENTRE for ASEAN Halal Products' at ASEAN MALL to facilitate entrepreneurs in obtaining all information about ASEAN companies producing Halal products and fostering collaboration among ASEAN entrepreneurs to enhance economic growth in Southern Thailand and the ASEAN region. Ladies and Gentlemen, distinguished guests, 13. The success of any program can be measured not only by its results but also by the extent of success in mobilizing efforts and fostering cooperation among various parties involved in its organization. 14. I am confident that with the support of the governments of Thailand, Malaysia, and other ASEAN countries, the annual ASEAN MALL and ASEAN HALAL EXPO will pave the way to strengthen economic cooperation among ASEAN countries and accelerate growth in the ASEAN region through the distribution of increasingly demanded Halal products on a global scale. The Halal industry is seen as a new growth sector based on its significant potential in this market, following the advancement of Muslims worldwide and the growing awareness, creating a high demand for Halal products and services. Business opportunities in Halal extend not only to the food and non-food sectors but also to service sectors such as finance and banking, insurance, education and training, research, certification, consulting , logistics, healthcare, and tourism. Ladies and Gentlemen, distinguished guests, 15. ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2023 and the role of ASEAN MALL are crucial to achieving the goals and aspirations of the IMT-GT or Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle, which is a framework formed to enhance growth and prosperity on the borders of the IMT-GT countries. Through IMT-GT cooperation, the private sector is being promoted as the engine of growth, and it is hoped to drive growth in the ASEAN region. 4

16. The Asian Development Bank has conducted a study and concluded that IMT-GT has significant potential to stimulate cross-border economic integration in six priority areas: Infrastructure Development, Agriculture and Fisheries, Trade, Tourism, Human Resource Development, and Professional Services. ASEAN MALL can play a vital role in promoting economic growth and integration within the framework of IMT-GT due to its strategic location in Southern Thailand. 17. Therefore, the involvement of the government and private sectors from Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia to leverage the potential of ASEAN MALL in the Pattani region is essential to realizing the goals outlined for IMT-GT. Efforts and initiatives made by UNITI Asia Group and the management of ASEAN MALL to organize various programs involving entrepreneurs from Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia to promote their products must be supported. Ongoing cooperation from government agencies in Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia to assist entrepreneurs ready to export products to ASEAN MALL will expedite the process of establishing ASEAN MALL as a gateway to Indochina. 18. Moreover, within the framework of the triangular economic cooperation between Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand, one of the six critical sectors to develop and accelerate economic growth in the border region between these three countries is Halal products. Therefore, I appreciate the efforts of UNITI Asia Group and the management of ASEAN MALL in organizing ASEAN HALAL EXPO or AHEX 2023, aiming to showcase Halal products from ASEAN countries and provide opportunities for Halal product entrepreneurs to establish strategic collaborations to explore new markets. Ladies and Gentlemen, distinguished guests, 19. I hope and pray that ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2023 will successfully bring many entrepreneurs from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and other ASEAN countries and their products to ASEAN MALL, providing them with opportunities to collaborate, find strategic partners from other countries, and explore new markets in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and, subsequently, Indochina. I believe that nothing can be achieved without collaboration. Therefore, the success of organizing ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2023 at ASEAN MALL relies on solid cooperation among various companies and government agencies from Malaysia and Thailand. Through this Expo, 'Business Pitching' and 'Business Matching' will enable many Malaysian and Thai companies participating in ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2023 to achieve high sales and have opportunities to collaborate and penetrate international markets. 20. I am also informed that, in conjunction with the organization of ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2023, the UNITI Foundation under UNITI Asia Group has taken the initiative to launch a fund to collect donations to assist 200 asnaf (those eligible for charity) in Pattani, Thailand. I hope that all of us can provide strong support for this noble effort by contributing to this fund. "Allah alleviates our difficulties when we help others in need." The Prophet Muhammad said, "Whoever alleviates one [person's] hardship, Allah will alleviate from him one of the hardships of the Day of Resurrection. Whoever makes it easy for a person in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this world and the Hereafter." (Hadith narrated by Muslim) 21. In conclusion, I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation, thanks, and congratulations to all parties involved in the success of ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2023 at ASEAN MALL, Pattani. I am ready to provide cooperation and assistance to ensure the success of programs and activities conducted by ASEAN MALL and the Wakaf development project of Madinatussalam in Pattani. 22. I pray that Allah SWT blesses this effort, and with the words "bismillahirrahmanirrahim," I joyfully declare the inauguration of ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2023. In conclusion, with the guidance and grace of Allah, peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you. Speech By: Wan Muhamad Noor Mata, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and President of the National Association of Thailand. Represented by: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ismail Luthfi Japakiya, Economic Adviser, Rector, Fatoni University, Thailand Opening Ceremony, ASEAN Halal Expo (AHEX ‘23) 30th November 2023 ASEAN Mall, Pattani, Thailand. 5

Welcoming Speech Mr. Ahmad Fahmi Bin Ahmad Sarkawi, General Consulate Malaysia to Songkhla Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh, Selamat Sejahtera dan Salam Malaysia Madani. Firstly, I wish to express the highest gratitude to Allah, for through His grace and blessings, we are gathered here at the Opening Ceremony of the ASEAN Halal Expo (AHEX 2023) that takes place over five (5) days at the ASEAN Mall Wakaf Shopping Center, Pattani, Thailand; to achieve the vision and mission of the nation’s economy. I also want to extend my appreciation and profound thanks to the organizers, UNITI Asia Link Sdn Bhd (UAL) (Export Management Company) in collaboration with One Stop Center Co. Ltd. (Import Company in Thailand) and UNITI Group Co. Ltd. (Owner and Manager of ASEAN Mall), for inviting me to inaugurate this event. I understand that this marks the second time the ASEAN Halal Expo is organized collaboratively between local Malaysian Bumiputera companies and local companies in Southern Thailand, warmly welcomed by the governments of Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and many others. I see this as a truly noble effort deserving support and endorsement from various parties, especially government entities. For the Malaysian government, we believe that supporting entrepreneurs is one of the wisest paths to long-term economic development. Ladies and Gentlemen, The Malaysian government is highly committed to fostering collaborations with neighboring countries, particularly Thailand and Indonesia. Recently, Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, held discussions with the Prime Minister of Thailand, Srettha Thavisin, to strengthen and establish cooperation between the two nations. Both sides engaged in discussions regarding the formation of joint task forces to enhance bilateral relations in trade and investment, tourism, agriculture, food security, and border security. In my opinion, the initiatives of ASEAN Mall and ASEAN Halal Expo align perfectly with the aspirations of the Malaysian government. This is because they are establishing a new market access that will bring about numerous mutual benefits. Ladies, gentlemen, and esteemed attendees, Allow me to highlight several aspects of regional economic integration, trade activities, and the role of gateways within the ASEAN context: 1. In terms of Import and Export Activities, regional economic integration not only facilitates market access (gateways), but also by participating in ASEAN economic integration, countries can diversify their export markets, reduce reliance on a single market, and minimize the impact of economic downturns in specific regions. 2. Concerning Supply Chain Connectivity, Efficient Goods Movement, better infrastructure networks, and transportation will contribute to the efficiency of supply chains, reducing logistics costs for businesses. Reduced Transit Time and Cost will be achieved by streamlining customs procedures and reducing trade barriers. 3. Furthermore, this regional economic integration will create various investment opportunities, leading to industrial development, job creation, technology transfer, and economic growth. Therefore, once again, I express full support for the efforts to develop the ASEAN Mall and organize the ASEAN Halal Expo aimed at enhancing investment and trade in Southern Thailand, especially in Pattani, which will also benefit Malaysia and other ASEAN countries. That’s all, wabillahi taufiq wal hidayah, wassalamualaikum wbt. Opening Ceremony, ASEAN Halal Expo (AHEX ‘23) 30th November 2023 ASEAN Mall, Pattani, Thailand. 6

Closing Inauguration Speech YB Dato' Mohd Salleh Saidin, Tourism, Culture and Tourism Exco, State of Kedah, Malaysia. Assalamualaikum wbt & a very Good Evening. All praise and thanks be given to the presence of Allah SWT because with his abundant grace and grace we can together attend and gather at the Closing Ceremony of ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2023, from 29 November to 3 December 2023 and the Launching Ceremony of ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2024 at ASEAN MALL, Pattani , Thailand During the 5 days ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2023 is held at ASEAN MALL, we can clearly see the important role played by ASEAN MALL in helping ASEAN entrepreneurs explore the Thai market by making ASEAN MALL in Pattani a `gateway' to bring in products halal I would like to say a million thanks and congratulations to the organizers and everyone involved in making the ASEAN Halal Expo 2023 a success. For me, ASEAN Mall, Pattani, is the beacon of economic progress for Muslims in organizing the 'supply chain' or the supply chain of halal products among ASEAN countries. Unlike other supermarkets and malls, ASEAN MALL in Pattani is not only the first Waqaf Mall in the world but also a very strategic hub to bring together ASEAN entrepreneurs and showcase their products continuously The success of ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2023 can be seen with the presence of more than 30,000 guests and buyers and the involvement of 170 entrepreneurs from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore. I can see the story of success with the construction of ASEAN MALL. There are already 4 Malaysian companies that have already acquired oryo and their products have already been sold at retailers in Patani and throughout Thailand. Another 10 Malaysian companies are awaiting Oryor's approval. And I believe that within a year we will see more Malaysian halal products will be able to penetrate the Thai market as well as the markets of Indochinese countries. Likewise, we can see that the products displayed at the ASEAN HALAL EXPO this time have received encouraging sales and there are several companies that have already entered into an MOU with a large Thai company. Apart from that we can see the entrepreneurs who have rented commercial spaces in ASEAN MALL are progressing their business and this shows the increasing support of the Pattani and Thai community to ASEAN MALL and opens up a very wide opportunity for ASEAN entrepreneurs to take advantage of ASEAN MALL to sell products them ASEAN MALL, which was developed in collaboration with Malaysian and Thai companies, is a very unusual initiative. In terms of investment, it will give satisfactory returns and open up opportunities for anyone to become an investor, giving individuals the opportunity to get annual returns as well as rewards in the afterlife. This is a clear example of how commercial waqaf develops and takes root based on the values of blessings and kindness and benefits various parties, whether individuals, organizations, society and the country. Our hope is that ASEAN Mall will not only be the focus of investors and entrepreneurs at the ASEAN level, but also attract the attention of investors and buyers from all over the world. ASEAN Mall should be a center where halal products can be obtained easily, quickly, and at reasonable prices. This will pave the way for a more inclusive and sustainable halal economy Through ASEAN Mall, we can see the unity between economic activities and social benefits. This is not only about creating wealth, but also about how the existence of ASEAN MALLA helps address poverty among the people of Pattani by providing jobs and business and investment opportunities. ASEAN Mall is the best example of how economic and business activities based on waqaf can go hand in hand with social benefits. In fact ASEAN MALL is a business in the 'social business' category because it not only provides profit but also provides continuous social benefits ASEAN Mall is not just a shopping center or trade hub. It is a reflection of our efforts, as an ASEAN community, in developing the economy of Muslims in the region. This mall is a symbol of the 'gateway' or entrance to the countries of Indochina, offering unlimited opportunities to entrepreneurs and producers of halal products. Here, the diversity of cultures and products from all ASEAN member countries are exhibited, showing the uniqueness of ASEAN products to the world. 7

This allows the tourism sector to be developed. I hope that Malaysian tourism companies can work with the management of ASEAN MALL and other tourism companies to formulate a strategy to develop the country's tourism industry through ASEAN MALL by ensuring suitable transportation and accommodation facilities for Malaysians and other ASEAN countries visiting Pattani and ASEAN MALL. Apart from organizing a business expo, I would like to suggest that the management of ASEAN MALL hold cultural and artistic activities that are allowed by the Sharia so that ASEAN MALL becomes a popular ASEAN business hub and cultural center In planning future programs, I would also like to suggest that ASEAN MALL can carry out activities that encourage innovation and creativity so that young entrepreneurs, start-ups, and innovators can grow and collaborate with entrepreneurs who are already established in the business world. ASEAN Mall should be a center where new ideas are explored and commercialized, right? As has been mentioned by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Pattani should be an active trade zone. We should explore and optimize every available opportunity to ensure that Pattani is known as a cultural and historical center, an important trade hub in Southeast Asia. ASEAN Mall should be the center of gravity for economic growth in this area. With the variety of halal products offered, from food and beverages, fashion, cosmetics, to health services, we pave the way for a healthy and resilient ecosystem. Apart from the persistent efforts by ASEAN MALL management and entrepreneurs, it is also very important for us to acknowledge and appreciate the unwavering support of government agencies, corporate bodies in Malaysia and Thailand. The provision of grants from central and state government agencies KUSKOP, SME Bank, MATRADE, UPEN Kelantan, UPUK, Kedah, Angkasa, Perlis has helped make ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2023 a success. Without cooperation and commitment from all parties, the dream of making ASEAN Mall a hub and center the distribution of halal products will not be a reality. I hope and believe that the central and state government agencies will continue to cooperate with the management of ASEAN MALL to make the programs to export products from Malaysia to Thailand through ASEAN MALL a success. Before I end this speech, let me express my hope and prayer that ASEAN Mall continues to grow, not only as a trade center but also as a prestigious halal product distribution center in the world. May Allah SWT bless our efforts and bring lasting benefits to all of us Once again I want to record appreciation and thanks a million to the organizer which is UNITI Asia Link Sdn Bhd (UAL) (Export Management Company) in collaboration with One Stop Center Co. Ltd. (OSC) (Importing company in Thailand) and UNITI Group Co. Ltd. (UG) (Owner and Manager of ASEAN Mall for organizing the ASEAN HALAL EXPO for these 5 days. I hope that more ASEAN entrepreneurs can attend the upcoming EXPO to expand their business network and explore new markets, increase sales of products and services and become traders An active ASEAN. It is quite difficult for entrepreneurs to find business partners at the ASEAN level without a business center such as the ASEAN MALL that not only plays the role of ``Gateway'' but also as a ``Trade Center'' for Malaysian entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs from other countries to hold meetings to discuss development strategies businesses looking for markets at the national level of ASEAN countries and other countries in the world. Finally, I want to take this opportunity to say appreciation and thanks and congratulations to all parties involved in make ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2023 a success at ASEAN MALL, Pattani. I am ready to provide cooperation and help to make the programs and activities run by ASEAN MALL successful in the future 20. I pray that Allah SWT blesses this effort and with words bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I am with is pleased to inaugurate the Closing Ceremony of ASEAN HALAL EXPO 2023 and to inaugurate the Launching Ceremony of ASEAN HALAL EXPO or AHEX 2024. Closing Ceremony, ASEAN Halal Expo (AHEX ‘23) 3rd December 2023 ASEAN Mall, Pattani, Thailand. 8

Support Speech Puan Pateemoh Sadeeyamu, Gabenor of Pattani, Thailand. First and foremost, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the organizers, One Stop Center Co. Ltd. and UNITI Asia Link Sdn Bhd, as well as ASEAN Mall Pattani and strategic partners of the ASEAN Halal Expo (AHEX '23) such as the Pattani Food Business Association, Fatoni University, the Halal Institute of Prince Songkla University, Ibn Affan Cooperative, As-Salam, True, and Global Ikhwan. I would also like to express my gratitude to the management of AHEX 2023 for inviting me to this evening's media session. I understand that there will be more than 200 companies participating, including product owners, manufacturers, and wholesalers from various countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore. Furthermore, it has come to my knowledge that an estimated 50,000 visitors are expected to attend this vibrant expo. I take great pride in Pattani being chosen as the 'Gateway' for business owners to export their products and businesses to Thailand, Malaysia, and the entire ASEAN region. I foresee the role of ASEAN Mall and the city of Wakaf Madinatussalam making Pattani and the three (3) southern regions of Thailand more advanced, developed, and competitive in the future. For your information, Pattani and Southern Thailand are not only rich in agriculture, fisheries, and food sectors but also strategically located to serve as a gateway for trade, tourism, and education between the Southern ASEAN countries and the Northern ASEAN countries. This is attributed to several factors that strengthen Pattani: 1. Population: Pattani has the highest population of Muslims in Southern Thailand, with a total population exceeding 700,000 in 2018. The Southern Thailand region has a population of 9.4 million, while the overall population of Thailand is 71.6 million. The total population of the Indochina region is 257 million, presenting a substantial market for ASEAN entrepreneurs. 2. Potential: Pattani possesses significant economic potential, evident in the numerous development projects, especially around ASEAN Mall. Pattani is poised to become a Halal Hub and a Business Center connecting our country with our neighboring country, Malaysia, and with ASEAN countries, particularly the Indochina region. With this rapid progress, the Pattani region holds high potential for entrepreneurs from our country and Malaysia to expand their businesses. 3. Logistics: Pattani and Southern Thailand will become a hub and business route connecting Thailand, Malaysia, and Indochina, facilitating entrepreneurs in terms of logistics arrangement. Delivery of products through the Southern Thailand land route is more cost-effective and convenient compared to alternative routes, expediting the import and export processes, particularly between Malaysia and Thailand. 4. Language: The fourth factor is language, where the advantage lies in the Southern Thailand community's proficiency in speaking at least two languages, Malay and Thai. This will undoubtedly facilitate the import and export mission between Northern and Southern ASEAN countries. In conclusion, I invite all entrepreneurs, government agencies, and the entire population of Pattani and Southern Thailand to join hands in making the ASEAN Halal Expo (AHEX '23) a success and in supporting ASEAN Mall and this trade initiative. That concludes my remarks. May success and guidance be with you all. Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Thank you. Press Conference, ASEAN Halal Expo (AHEX ‘23) 6th November 2023 ASEAN Mall, Pattani, Thailand. 9

Opening Speech Dato’ Jamal Mohd Amin, President, UNITI Asia Business Group Director, ASEAN Mall, Pattani, Thailand Waalaikumussalam wbt dan Selamat Sejahtera. First and foremost, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all parties involved, be it from the Government Agencies, Private Institutions, Business Professionals; whether from Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, and other ASEAN countries. Your support and endorsement for ASEAN Mall will never be forgotten. As I have mentioned before, ASEAN Mall was established with a clear and sincere intention, which is to contribute to the economic development of the three (3) southern regions of Thailand. Additionally, it is also designed to serve as the 'Gateway' between businesses in Southern ASEAN and Northern ASEAN; undoubtedly providing returns and progress for many. With the advantage of the population in Southern Thailand being fluent in both Malay and Thai, it will facilitate many opportunities for traders, academics, tourism companies, and others; in exporting their respective products or services. This is because, while most people in Southern ASEAN countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Brunei can speak Malay and English, they are not proficient in Thai. On the other hand, in Northern ASEAN countries like Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, people can only communicate in Thai (Siam) and not in English and Malay. This language barrier is not only a constraint for various parties but will also be detrimental to all of us, especially ASEAN countries. Furthermore, the ability to use two languages makes Southern Thailand one of the focal points for both Malaysian and Thai leaders in developing the country's economy. This will undoubtedly attract the interest of many investors and industrialists to invest in their businesses here. This should be welcomed by the people of Southern Thailand to further boost their economic development. Moreover, the concept of Investment Waqf (Wakaf Pelaburan) is an excellent concept to be applied by many parties, especially among developers and business people. Through this concept, ASEAN Mall, Pattani, has successfully been developed. Those who contribute to the Waqf in ASEAN Mall will not only gain continuous rewards but also qualify for returns on profits from businesses conducted on this waqf land. In conclusion, I would like to congratulate and commend the AHEX 2023 team for successfully organizing this expo. Despite the rainy season, it did not hinder the business community and economic warriors. That's all from me, Wassalamualaikum wbt. Opening Ceremony, ASEAN Halal Expo (AHEX ‘23) 30th November 2023 ASEAN Mall, Pattani, Thailand. 10

Welcoming Speech En Zamri Bin Mohd Said Program Director ASEAN Halal Expo Assalamualaikum wbt, Salam Malaysia Madani, Salam Sejahtera, Good Morning dan Sawadee Kap. “Peace be upon you and may God’s blessings and mercy be upon you. Greetings to Malaysia Madani, Greetings of Peace, Good morning, and Sawadee Kap. Waalaikumussalam wbt, Salam Malaysia Madani, Salam Sejahtera, Good morning, and Sawadee Kap. Alhamdulillah, as in the previous year, once again the ASEAN Halal Expo has been successfully conducted with the enthusiastic participation of over a hundred entrepreneurs from ASEAN countries, including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and others. A total of 120 entrepreneurs seized the opportunity to collaboratively make the Expo a success, serving as the annual event to gather halal products from across ASEAN at the ASEAN Mall Pattani under the guidance of various agencies from Malaysia and Thailand. The ASEAN Halal Expo also serves as a platform providing opportunities for entrepreneurs from ASEAN countries to explore markets in Southern Thailand and Indochina. Over 200 SKUs were showcased at AHEX this time. Various activities were conducted, including Business2Business sessions such as Business Matching, Business Pitching, Business Networking with buyers and participating entrepreneurs. AHEX 23 also featured Business 2 Customers activities on days 3, 4, and 5, including competitions, performances, lectures, martial arts demonstrations, and various other engaging activities aimed at attracting the public to participate in this Expo. Since yesterday, several MOUs have been signed between Malaysian and Thai entrepreneurs in the presence of buyers. This proves that the Expo provides significant opportunities for the involved entrepreneurs. AHEX 2023 aims to increase the number of Halal product SKUs from entrepreneurs in the Thai market and, subsequently, in Indochina. Hopefully, the success of AHEX this time will bring substantial benefits to all entrepreneurs from Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, and other ASEAN countries. Before I conclude, allow me to share a verse of poetry: ”Ke Sungai Lempo membasuh muka Jumpa Perigi di tengah Jalan ASEAN Halal Expo kini dibuka Setahun Sekali Kita Jayakan That’s all, Wabillahi taufiq wal hidayah wassalamualaikum wbt. Opening Ceremony, ASEAN Halal Expo (AHEX ‘23) 30th November 2023 ASEAN Mall, Pattani, Thailand. 11

2.0 About ASEAN Halal Expo 2023 2.1 Introduction The second “Asean Halal Expo” program is a Trade Fair that focuses on the mission of advancing the Halal industry in ASEAN countries. This program has been planned and organized by a combination of several business entities, education, corporate and government agencies such as One Stop Center Co. Ltd. (Importing company in Thailand), UNITI Asia Link Sdn Bhd (Exporting company in Malaysia), Halal Institute, Prince of Songkla University, Thailand and more. Asean Mall in Pattani, Thailand has been chosen as the expo location this year in accordance with ASEAN Mall’s own vision and mission, which is to expand the market for Halal products in ASEAN countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia and others. Various events were held throughout the program such as, sales exhibition of Halal products from ASEAN countries, Forum, Business Matching, Business Pitching, local events, Malay Aroi competition and many more. All of these programs include Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Customer (B2C). A total of 108 entrepreneurs and companies from various countries participated, setting up booths at this expo. Despite its cultural richness, the region has faced challenges related to security issues and occasional conflicts. However, efforts are continually made to promote stability, development, and cultural preservation in the area. The province boasts beautiful landscapes, including beaches along the Gulf of Thailand, lush greenery, and historical landmarks that attract tourists interested in exploring the area’s history, culture, and natural beauty. 3.3 Pattani Population Pattani’s population is culturally diverse, with a significant Muslim presence. It serves as a vital hub for import and export activities, especially in industries like agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism. 2. Logistics Hub: Pattani’s infrastructure, including roads and transportation networks, plays a crucial role in facilitating the movement of goods between Thailand and Malaysia. Improved logistics infrastructure could further enhance the efficiency of trade, making Pattani an essential logistical gateway for both nations. 3. Cultural Exchange: Beyond commerce, Pattani serves as a bridge for cultural interactions. The proximity encourages people-to-people exchanges, fostering a greater understanding of each other’s cultures, traditions, and ways of life. This exchange is not only beneficial for tourism but also for building stronger diplomatic ties between Thailand and Malaysia. 4. Investment Opportunities: Pattani’s position as a gateway presents investment opportunities for businesses looking to expand into both Thailand and Malaysia. The region’s favorable location can attract investors seeking access to markets in Southeast Asia.
