Exercise 1 Interpret the index number for each of the following situations.

Calculate the index number for the number of smartphones sold in the year 2018 based on the year 2015.

3. The number of students in a school decreased from 1 600 students in the year 2017 to 1 520 students in the
year 2018. Calculate the index number to show the change in the number of students in the year 2018 based on
the year 2017.

2012. Find the price index of the shoes for the year 2009 based on the year 2012.

5. The table below shows the price of a type of washing machine in the year 2015 and 2018. Calculate the price
