Public speaking has typically been thought of as formal, and one-on-one communication with an audience of listeners. The type of information communicated is specifically designed to inform, convince and ertertain. Pitch is how high or low a speaker's voice is. Voice pitch refers to the perceived relative highness or lowness of a tone by the ear. The vocal pitches varies from person to person naturally. Public Speaking Principals of Materials Audience Topic Materials are extremely important in making a speech. Materials can be gained in many different ways. Some of the common ways to get information is by personal experience, the library, the Internet, or by speaking with people who are expert with the topic. The Britannica Dictionary defined audience as a group of people who gather together to listen something (such as concert) or watch something (such as movie or play). The audience is the main reason for delivering a speech. It is essential for speakers to establish a personal connection with their audience. Topic is basically what is the speech about. In other words, the topic is what the speaker wants to convey in his speech. There must always be a reason for the topic to be discussed such as to inform, persuade, or convince. Topic must be relevant to the listener's expectations and areas of internet while also taking into account their prior knowledge. The speech topic can be determined by considering the occasion, audience, and the speaker's qualification. A succesful speech must be appropriate to both audience and occasion.
