A Gift
by Robert L. Kane, MD
If you are 65 or older—or younger-it’s OK to do this
before you turn 65—you should give a gift on your
birthday. That’s right: give a gift.
It is a notebook you give to your loved ones and
caregivers with all the relevant information they
might need to know in case you cannot speak for
yourself, which, frankly, can happen any time, but
Family members and other loved ones often face
several challenges in coordinating the affairs of their
charges. One important step toward facilitating that
task is to gather all the relevant information in one
place. The notebook should include any and all
pertinent information.
The format is up to you—anything from an old-
fashioned three-ring binder to an iPad., to
someplace on the Cloud (just make sure your loved
ones can access it).
