pick-up on the afternoon of Closing Day, after 12pm EST. The carrier will either provide the label upon pickup, or email

MEDICAL INFORMATION
MEDICAL INSURANCE
Campers are required to have valid health insurance coverage. Please provide evidence of your camper’s coverage
where indicated in the Health History form. Attach clear photocopies front/back of your camper’s health insurance
certificate or card where indicated on the Medical Authorization Form.
IMMUNIZATION POLICY
The vaccination of all members of the Camp Judaea community is essential to maintain a safe environment and
decrease the risk of transmission of these preventable illnesses. All children attending Camp Judaea MUST receive
the full complement of routine vaccinations as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and
the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. Camp Judaea requires vaccination for measles, mumps, rubella,
chicken pox, polio, hepatitis A, diphtheria, pertussis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Haemophilus influenza type B,
and Neisseria meningitidis. Current tetanus immunization will also be required. If you have any questions concerning
this policy, please contact the Executive Director.
LICE TREATMENT POLICY
Untreated lice can quickly become a camp-wide problem during the summer. In everyone’s best interest, we have a
strict lice policy. All campers will be checked for lice on Opening Day. Should lice or nits be found on a camper, he or
she will be treated at camp by the Asheville Lice Treatment Center for the cost of $225, which will be billed directly to
parents and charged to the credit card we have on file. This cost will include all necessary follow-up checks and treat-
ments. Please refer to the Incidental Payment Form for further clarification.
MEDICATION
**Camp Judaea requires all camper families to order prescription and regular over the counter medications pre-
packaged before coming to camp through the services of “CampMeds”. To ensure that 100% of our camp families
participate in this mandatory program, Camp Judaea is paying the cost of CampMeds packaging service. You are
only paying for the cost of your child’s medications. Please contact CampMeds as soon as possible to avoid late fees,
an additional non-compliance camp fee of $25 per camper, and challenging delays in starting your child’s medication
regimen at camp.
1. Fill out your camper’s “Online Health History Form” located in your family’s CampInTouch Forms Dashboard
on Camp Judaea’s website. The medications listed on this health history form must match the medications
listed on the “Camp Meds Enrollment Form.”
2. Contact “CampMeds” included on the dashboard to enroll in the program.
MEDICATION “VACATIONS”
We strongly encourage you to maintain your child’s routine medication regimen during their session at Camp Judaea.
If you are considering a “vacation” from medication for your child, please communicate about this with us.
OTC MEDICATIONS
Over the counter medications are usually stocked in the Health Care Center. If your camper takes an OTC medication
on a regular basis it is necessary to order the OTC medication through CampMeds.

PARENT LOGISTICS
FAMILY EMERGENCIES & PARENT CONTACT INFORMATION DURING CAMP
If there is a family emergency, please inform our Executive Director, Walter Synalovski.
Walter will then handle the emergency in a sensitive and appropriate manner. Decisions regarding how to handle the
specific situation will be made in partnership with Walter Synalovski and a camper’s parent(s) or guardians. Only after
the camp is notified are arrangements made for parents and children to talk. This approach prepares the camp to sup-
port your children through the difficult situation. Please call the Camp office at 404-634-7883 x103 to speak with or
leave a message for Walter Synalovski.
If you will be away from home when your child is at camp, or if your summer address is different from your address
during the rest of the year, please contact the camp office.
COMMUNICATIONS
OFFICE HOURS
Camp Judaea will have the same phone number during the summer 1-800-788-1567 or 404-634-7883. The best time
to call us is between 8:00am and 8:00pm. The office closes sometimes during meals, but you can always leave a mes-
sage and we’ll return your call as soon as possible. While we do have email access at camp, it is best to call us if you’d
like a timely response.
For emergency calls only, after 8PM, please call the camp office at 404-634-7883 x103
MAIL
We encourage campers to write home at least once a week. Letters may take considerable time to arrive home. If this
happens, don’t worry, as “no news is usually good news.” If you receive a “homesick” letter from your child, or are
just concerned for any reason, please call or email Walter Synalovski, he will check out the situation and get back to
you. We encourage you to pre-address and stamp the envelopes to ensure that your child’s letter gets to the correct
recipient.
E-LETTERS
Parents can e-mail their camper(s) during the summer through the CampInTouch system (Online Community section).

CAMP RULES AND REGULATIONS

Camp Judaea encourages parents to visit the camp on the first and last days of the camp session. We do not allow
family visits when the camp session is in progress

IS PROHIBITED AT CAMP. This includes but is NOT LIMITED to Cell Phones, iPod Touch, iPhones, iPads/Tablets/
Kindles, iWatch, Laptop Computers, TV’s. DVD players, video cameras, and any hand held electronic games and any
device capable of showing video. Cellular phones are NOT permitted at camp. If a camper brings a cell phone, it will
be collected and held in the camp office safe until the end of the session that the camper is attending. Only an MP3
player that does not have a screen that only plays music such as the iPod Shuffle is permitted at camp. Campers will
only be permitted to use their MP3 player in their cabin during personal time and during specified personal fitness
time (i.e. exercising/jogging). If you choose to send any electronic devices, please be aware that the camp will not
be responsible for any loss of/or damage to such equipment.
WE prohibit all types of toy guns (dart, Nerf, water, etc.), knives, including Swiss Army of Boy Scout types, or weapons of any
kind. DO NOT SEND SILLY STRING, WATER BALLOONS, LASER POINTERS, SCOOTERS, HEELY SHOES OR SCISSORS. All of these
items can create hazardous situations in camp. Please do not send any aerosol cans. Directors reserve the right to confiscate
any item deemed dangerous or detrimental to the camp community.
PRIVACY VS. PROTECTION
While respect for the privacy of individuals at camp is a value we teach and encourage, the needs of the community
sometimes supersede the needs of the individual. If the health or safety of other campers or staff is at risk, campers
and staff may have their belongings searched and inventoried in the presence of two (2) designated members of the
senior administrative staff, but only at the direction of the Executive Director.
CONTACT WITH THE STAFF
Before and during the summer, all communications between parents and the Camp Judaea staff must go through the
Camp Judaea office. After the summer, your child may wish to “friend” his/her staff members through Facebook or
other social networking sites. This should only be permitted with your explicit permission.
ANTI-BULLYING
Camp Judaea will not tolerate any form of bullying or cyber-bullying, nor will Camp Judaea tolerate retaliation against
any person who reports bullying, provides information during an investigation of bullying, or witnesses or has reliable
information about bullying. We believe that bullying behaviors are harmful to students’ physical, emotional, social,
psychological, and academic experiences. These behaviors negatively impact the victims, bystanders, and bullies and
create a negative camp environment.
INCLUSION AT CAMP JUDAEA
We strive to understand the needs of every camper and work hard to ensure that campers of varying abilities are
given every opportunity to participate and thrive in an inclusive environment while promoting fun, learning, and
new experiences. Each campers’ talents and qualities are contributing factors that help build a sense of community,
equally valuing every camper, while still preserving the group cabin experience for all. Our goal at Camp Judaea is to
support all campers to participate in activities to the best of their ability, share meals in a group setting, and develop
strong peer-to-peer relations for a lifetime of friendship. We make an extra effort to teach our campers, through expe-
rience, what it means to be part of an inclusive Jewish community. The principle of kol yisrael arevim zeh lazeh (all of
Israel is responsible for one another) guides us as we strive to include a place for each individual camper to succeed at
camp. We believe that inclusion is good for everyone – kids with and without disabilities, families, staff, and our entire
community. All counselors are trained in our inclusion philosophy and on making camp inclusive.
