Modul pembelajaran ini, pada dasarnya merupakan penulisan yang telah kami lakukan demi tercapainya tujuan untuk berpartisipasi dalam menyediakan sarana pembelajaran yang dengan praktis dapat digunakan oleh peserta didik. How To Describe Something sendiri merupakan modul pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang ditujukan untuk peserta didik tingkat SMA kelas X/10. Modul ini disusun pastinya dengan tujuan memenuhi sumber belajar peserta didik khususnya pada mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Bahasa Inggris merupakan International Language yang mana di Indonesia meiliki peran sebagai bahasa asing yang tidak bisa diabaikan dan penting untuk diplajari. Maka dari itu, sangat dibutuhkan media pembelajaran yang dapat dengan efektif menunjang kemampuan berbahasa peserta didik agar terus berkembang. Kegiatan di setiap unit dalam modul “How To Describe Something” ini mencakup 4 keterampilan berbahsa, yakni: Listening, Reading, Writing, dan Speaking. Latihan-latihan yang tertera dalam modul disusun dengan instruksi sederhana sehingga peserta didik dapat dengan mudah memahami apa yang diperintahkan dan apa yang harus mereka lakukan guna memenuhi/menjalankan perintah yang ada. Modul ini disusun juga dengan guna untuk membantu peserta didik agar dapat melatih kemampuan berkomunikasi menggunakan Bahasa Inggris.

Deskripsi Modul Modul yang berjudul “How to Describe Something” adalah modul Bahasa Inggris untuk siswa kelas X/10 SMA yang di dalamnya berisi topik-topik sebagai berikut: Pengertian teks deskripsi (descriptive); kerangka teks deskripsi (descriptive); contoh teks deskripsi (descriptive); dan cara membuat teks deskripsi (descriptive). Sesuai dengan topik yang telah disebutkan, akan ada 1 unit dalam modul ini, yang mana pada unit ini akan mengandung materi bahasan dari KD 10.A.5, 10.B.3, dan 10.C.3. Dalam modul ini berisi uraian materi dan beberapa latihan (Challenge) yang diharapkan dapat menunjang peningkatan 4 skill dalam berbahasa Inggris siswa. Latihan-latihan tersebut dikemas dalam 4 poin yakni A, B, C, dan D, dengan penjabaran sebagai berikut: Poin A. Listen Around You! yang dimaksudkan untuk melatih kemampuan listening; Poin B. Look at The Text! yang dimaksudkan untuk melatih kemampuan reading; Poin C. Write Your Idea! yang dimaksudkan untuk melatih kemampuan writing; dan Poin D. Tell to Your Friends! yang dimaksudkan untuk melatih kemampuan speaking. Di samping itu, tersedia glosarium sebagai panduan awal siswa dalam memahami beberapa kata yang akan mereka temukan dalam unit-unit yang akan mereka pelajari. Pada akhir pembelajaran akan terdapat sejumlah soal evaluasi akhir sebagai tolak ukur pemahaman siswa atas materi yang telah mereka pelajari di setiap unit. Terdapat juga beberapa link pembelajaran di setiap unit yang dapat diakses dengan mudah oleh siswa. Selain itu, juga disediakan panduan penilaian sehingga siswa dapat secara mandiri memberikan nilai atas pekerjaan mereka masing-masing. Selanjutnya juga terdapat summary atau rangkuman materi dan vocabulary list di setiap unit untuk memudahkan siswa dalam mengingat kembali apa yang telah mereka pelajari di setiap unit. Dan terakhir, setiap siswa akan menemukan penilaian diri dan skala keberhasilan yang mana dapat membantu siswa untuk merefleksi diri mereka sendiri apakah telah memahami materi dengan baik dan menjawab soal-soal evaluasi dengan tepat.

Petunjuk Penggunaan Modul Dalam menggunakan modul ini untuk media belajar siswa, maka siswa diharapkanuntuk menyediakan kamus Indonesia-Inggris-Indonesia guna mendukung kegiatan belajar agar berjalan lancar. Siswa juga diperbolehkan untuk menggunakan alat elektronik beserta koneksi internetnya hanya untuk mengakses link yang tersedia dalam modul atau akses lain yang dapat mendukung kegiatan belajar, misalnya kamus online. Untuk dapat menyelesikan tugas/latihan di setiap unit, maka siswa diharapkan untuk memperhatikan dengan baik instruksi yang telah tertera dan melakukan dengan sebaik-baiknya apa yang diperintahkan sesuai instruksi. Setelah memahami uraian materi dan mengerjakan latihan-latihan yang tersedia, siswa diharapkan untuk mengerjakan soal evaluasi akhir di setiap unit guna mengukur pemahaman setelah mempelajari unit terkait. Setelah mengerjakan evaluasi siswa dapat menghitung secara mandiri skor yang akan mereka dapat sesuai dengan panduan penghitungan skor yang telah tersedia. Apabila skor yang didapat mencapai batas skala kesuksesan, maka siswa telah melampaui pembelajaran di unit tersebut dengan baik dan dapat melanjutkan pembelajaran ke unit selanjutnya. Namun, apabila skor yang didapat dari evaluasi belum melampaui batas skala kesuksesan dan siswa masih merasa kurang memahami materi, siswa dapat mengulangi kegiatan pembelajaran mereka di unit yang belum mereka pahami dari awal sampai akhir serta mengerjakan ulang soal evaluasi, apabila masih menemukan kesulitan, siswa dapat berdiskusi dengan teman sebaya atau mengajukan pertanyaan kepada guru.

CHAPTER 2: LOOK AT THE TEXT! In this section, you will learn about reading and understanding the descriptive text. CHALLENGE 2: READ THE FOLLOWING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT! Venice is a city in northern Italy. It has been known as the “Queen of the Adriatic”, “City of Bridges”, and “The City of Light”. The city stretches across 117 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic Sea in northeast Italy. Venice is world famous for its canals. It is built on an archipelago of 117 islands formed by about 150 canals in a shallow lagoon. The islands on which the city is built are connected by about 400 bridges. In the old center, the canals serve the function of roads, and every form of transport is on water or on foot. You can ride a gondola there. It is the classical Venetian boat which nowadays is mostly used for tourists, weddings, funerals, or other ceremonies. Structure of descriptive text The structure of descriptive text consists of two parts, namely identification and description. 1) Identification Identification contains the introduction of the object to be described. Examples include, 'What is that object?' or 'Where did that object come from?'. 2) Description Description contains a more specific explanation of the object being described. In this section, you can explain the appearance and personality of the object. Example : Let me introduce you to my friend. His name is Alif. He is my friend at university. (This is the Identification of the object) Alif is so handsome. He has an oval face, black hair, rounded eyes, and a pointed nose. He is so smart and friendly. (This is the description of the object) d. Language Features of Descriptive Text Language features of descriptive text consist of three, namely adjectives, Simple Present Tense, and adverbs of frequency. 1) Adjective Descriptive text is inseparable from adjectives. When describing an object, we definitely use adjectives, such as big, small, tall, short, smart, friendly, and so on. 2) Simple Present Tense The Simple Present Tense is usually used to express general facts or truths, as well as habits. When describing an object, we will use this type of tense because what we describe from the object is a fact.

The cave is located in the Dukuh Mandayana Candirenggo Village, Ayah District, Kebumen Regency. In the Petruk Cave, there is no lighting that illuminates the cave. It is still a very natural cave so Petruk Cave is very dark to enter. Petruk Cave’s name is taken from the punokawan of the puppet character that is Petruk. The cave is Named Petruk Cave because the length of the cave is as long as the Petruk’s nose. In the cave, there are 3 floors that are the first is a basic cave, a Hindu cave, and a Petruk cave. The base cave is a short cave that is just 100 meters away. The cave is used for tourist attractions. A Hindu cave is part of the cave that is usually used to put offerings to the ancestor. Inside Petruk cave there are so many stalactites and stalagmites which are really awesome. If you want to explore this cave, you must be led by guides who are ready to take you through the cave.
