As a middle school teacher, last year I had the pleasure to teach for SHARP
Literacy’s SLGI. I experienced first-hand how each lesson uses familiar

landmarks and locations from the Milwaukee area to combine art and literacy.

It’s thrilling to see students immersed in SHARP lessons geared towards
reaching all students as they explore new vocabulary.

I noticed that some students typically off-task instead thrived during the
SHARP lessons. Because they enjoyed the integrated art projects, they were
more engaged in literacy. The students’ hard work pleasantly surprised me.

After completing their projects, I could see the sense of pride and
accomplishment as they shared them with their peers and displayed them

around the room.
