Come Together
with Your PM&R Community
AAPM&R is your community of 10,000+ physiatrists. As the leading medical association focused on advancing
the practice of PM&R across all clinical areas and practice settings, we’re a community of thought-leaders
who advocate for PM&R physicians and your patients, a provider of cutting-edge learning opportunities and
much more. Together with Academy members, we developed the vision for the specialty and are actively
putting our plans into action to make this vision a reality.
Our Vision:
Physiatrists are the essential medical experts in value-based evaluation, diagnosis
and management of neuromusculoskeletal and disabling conditions.
Physiatrists are indispensable leaders in directing rehabilitation and recovery, and in
preventing injury and disease.
Physiatrists are vital in optimizing outcomes and function early and throughout the continuum of patient care.
We adopted this vision as our own organizational vision statement and are working to support all physiatrists during the current
period of intense healthcare changes through PM&R BOLD. PM&R BOLD represents the work of hundreds of volunteers and
thousands of physiatrists’ input to determine and actualize the specialty’s future. Taking an active role in your Academy and
your specialty is critical to claiming this future. Learn more about PM&R BOLD at aapmr.org/pmrbold and be sure to explore
our BOLD sessions during #AAPMR21!
We need your support to help physiatry’s future thrive! Together we are stronger, and together, we can shape the future of PM&R.
Be part of the PM&R community in 2022.

Welcome to AAPM&R’s virtual Annual Assembly!
We look forward to you joining us at this year's AAPM&R Annual Assembly.
As the chair of AAPM&R’s Program Planning Committee, this meeting is
something we work toward and look forward to every year. Although some
of you may be disappointed that we’re not gathering in-person, there is a
bright side to all of this. Academy staff, educational volunteers and AAPM&R
leadership had the foresight to plan for a hybrid meeting from the beginning,
so we are prepared for this transition and excited to welcome the entire
PM&R community to physiatry’s biggest event of the year!
We have a top-notch virtual vendor that has been on-board since the beginning, who will Rachel Brakke Holman
provide an exceptional virtual experience for all attendees. We also learned a lot from last MD, FAAPMR
year’s virtual meeting and have made a number of changes to make this year’s virtual meeting
even more seamless, engaging and educational. The content that was planned for this year is
not changing, but we are now fully virtual—via a new and improved virtual platform.
While meeting virtually, we will be Reimagining Our Future Through Technology and Science
with content focused on how science and technology are advancing our specialty. You will
have countless opportunities to learn from each other and make meaningful connections
with other physiatrists. It’s more important than ever that we share the wealth of knowledge
that PM&R has to offer, while motivating and supporting each other to reach new heights.
Attendees will enjoy 70+ clinical and practice symposia, four exciting plenaries with nationally-
recognized speakers, a cutting-edge Research Hub and opportunities for networking. The
Assembly is your time to engage with your PM&R community to advance the specialty and
help move our BOLD vision forward.
I wish you an inspiring Annual Assembly experience. We look forward to seeing you
virtually in mid-November and be sure to save the date for #AAPMR22 in Baltimore on
October 20-23.

and compliance with public health guidelines and other restrictions, prevents or otherwise renders it impracticable for the Assembly to
proceed in-person.

Data to Demonstrate Your
Value and Improve Your Care
AAPM&R’s Registry is a physiatry-owned, single repository of data which will harness the combined power
in numbers of the entire specialty. This mass of data can then aid the specialty by guiding efforts to reduce
burnout and defend our scope of practice.
Not only does AAPM&R’s Registry provide the data to demonstrate your value, it provides data to improve your care
by tracking your success on a national scale and studying the most effective treatments for your patients. As more
data is collected, the specialty will become stronger, together.

—ENGAGE WITH EXHIBITORS AND SPONSORS
Products, services and therapeutics offered by exhibitors and sponsors play a vital role in patient care.
Take time during and after #AAPMR21 to engage and learn more about what these organizations have
to offer your patients and your practice. Their support also helps support AAPM&R financially, please
thank them for their ongoing collaboration with AAPM&R.
Ways to Engage with Exhibitors and Sponsors
There are multiple ways to engage with exhibitors and sponsors.
R Attend Educational Theaters, Product Demonstrations and Sunrise Sessions
N Check the online agenda for complete listings of organizations hosting educational sessions and make them part
of your virtual experience. Please try to attend during the scheduled times as not all sessions will be available
afterwards on-demand because of their organizations’ regulations. However, some will be, so be sure to check the
on-demand offerings as well!
N Start your day with Sunrise Sessions – be sure to check the schedule as you’ll have the opportunity to learn from
some sponsored sessions prior to the official AAPM&R content starting each day.
N Educational Theaters and Product Demonstrations will be held during break times.
R View Sponsored On-Demand Education
N Some organizations will be featuring on-demand education and videos. Please take a moment to explore the content
these organizations will be sharing.
R Explore Exhibitor Listings
N Each exhibitor will have the ability to post informational brochures and videos, and links to their virtual platforms or
websites. Some may even link to their own Zoom “rooms” to provide the opportunity to engage with attendees. Take
a moment and explore what each organization has posted and save some of their materials for future viewing.
R Visit the PM&R Pavilion
N Some exhibitors also will be hosting a table in the PM&R Pavilion to engage with attendees. This year, attendees can
visit the booths at any time where they will find videos and materials posted to a Whiteboard to view and download.
N Additionally, we will have dedicated hours to “chat” with exhibitors. Attendees can take a seat at the table and have a
face-to-face conversation with an organization representative.
N Please talk a moment, learn something new from an exhibitor or simply thank them for their ongoing commitment to
the Academy and PM&R.
