—WELCOME

Welcome to AAPM&R's Annual Assembly!

Thank you for joining us at physiatry’s premier annual event. I am thrilled you’re Deborah A. Venesy
here during this important time where we can reconnect with each other, gain MD, FAAPMR
new perspectives, discover new technologies, learning fresh perspectives to
transform our practices.

Although I look forward to this meeting each year, our 2022 meeting is even
more exciting! After three years away, we’re once again able to gather together
in-person and I couldn’t be happier. We need to see each other to network, just to be
together, to enjoy each other’s company; tell each other what’s going on in our lives—in
our professional life and our personal life.

Our member volunteers continue to elevate our Assembly experience year-over-year to
make this a memorable time for all of us. They are shining examples of our theme, Leading
the Way, in action, and together with Academy staff, they have some exciting things
planned for us in Charm City.

Join your Member Communities throughout the Assembly for valuable networking and the chance to meet others who
share your similar clinical and practice interests. The state-of-the-art PM&R Pavilion welcomes back in-person exhibitors
and plays host to the hands-on Learning Center and Research Hub, where you can listen to the latest research updates
and explore e-posters. Be sure to celebrate your colleagues during Physiatry Day on Friday—stop by the Member Resource
Center to participate in exciting activities! We also have the PhyzTalks Plenary—if you’re staying until Sunday, don’t miss
these exciting presentations from seven of your peers while enjoying a delicious breakfast.

Each session and event you attend here focuses on the education, conversations and resources you need to be successful
now and into the future. From participating in PM&R BOLD discussions, attending our new technologies and practice
evolution sessions, to sharing your thoughts in our Town Hall, you’re helping to Lead the Way.

I wish you an outstanding Annual Assembly experience. Be BOLD and be well! (and enjoy Baltimore!)

IMMUNOGENICITY

XEOMIN, a uniquely purified neuromodulator without
unnecessary proteins, has a low protein load and
demonstrated no lack of effect in clinical studies due to
neutralizing antibodies.*

THE SCIENCE

*The direct impact of the non-therapeutic proteins on long term safety or efficacy has not been established.
Information about the unique XEOMIN manufacturing process and the properties of incobotulinumtoxinA is
not intended to imply superiority over other botulinum toxin type A products. As with all neuromodulators,
including XEOMIN, there is a potential for immunogenicity.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

INDICATIONS

XEOMIN® (incobotulinumtoxinA) for injection is indicated for the treatment of:

• Chronic sialorrhea in patients 2 years of age and older • Cervical dystonia in adults
• Blepharospasm in adults
• Upper limb spasticity in adults

• Upper limb spasticity in pediatric patients 2 years of age and older,
excluding spasticity caused by cerebral palsy

WARNING: DISTANT SPREAD OF TOXIN EFFECT
See full prescribing information for complete BOXED WARNING.

The effects of XEOMIN and all botulinum toxin products may spread from the area of injection to produce
symptoms consistent with botulinum toxin effects. These symptoms have been reported hours to weeks after
injection. Swallowing and breathing difficulties can be life threatening and there have been reports of death. The
risk of symptoms is probably greatest in children treated for spasticity but symptoms can also occur in adults,
particularly in those patients who have underlying conditions that would predispose them to these symptoms.

—GENERAL INFORMATION

Dear fellow participants of the AAPM&R 2022 Annual Assembly,

The Academy would like to thank all our members who submitted suggestions to help Sam S. H. Wu
our Annual Assembly be the model of accessibility for national and international MD, MA, MPH, MBA, FAAPMR
medical meetings.

The Baltimore Convention Center will house this year’s Annual Assembly events in
the ADA compliant environment. The convention center is located in Baltimore’s
Inner Harbor tourism district which is surrounded by scenic waterfront views, great
museums and culture. The closest hotel to the Annual Assembly’s convention space is this year’s
headquarters hotel, the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor. This hotel is connected via an enclosed
skywalk to the convention center.

At the convention center, we noted that some of the AED cabinets and disinfecting wipe
dispensers presented a protruding object hazard. We have formally requested that the
convention center management team provide an easily detectable warning element below these objects.

We also noted that a few of the meeting room doors in the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor have a pull side clearance width beyond
the latch that is less than 18 inches. To solve this issue, we have formally requested that the hotel management prop doors open
during events. We also noted that in ADA hotel rooms, the bed clearance on the bathroom wall side is less than 36 inches. We
have also formally requested that the hotel management relocate the bed.

The sidewalks around the convention center and the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor are accessible with curb cuts and good width
to allow those using mobility devices to travel comfortably with their able-bodied colleagues.

The President’s Reception is taking place at the POWER PLANT Live!, which is also ADA compliant. There are accessible buses
to take participants from the convention center to the POWER PLANT Live! The restrooms at this venue also have accessible
entrances for participants using wheelchairs and scooters. In addition, there are bars and tables at appropriate heights for those
using mobility devices. We hope that all attendees will enjoy the music as well as their opportunity to challenge fellow attendees
to some fun arcade games while reconnecting with one another!

In preparation for the AAPM&R 2022 Annual Assembly, our Academy worked with Mr. Andrew Yarrish who is a consultant
specializing in accessible environments. Mr. Yarrish also toured and assessed the convention center, the Hilton Baltimore Inner
Harbor, POWER PLANT Live! and overflow hotels to ensure that Academy-sponsored events will be accessible to all participants.
This comprehensive assessment and remediation request is documented in a detailed site survey which is shared with the
convention and hotel management teams, and made available in the Accessibility Information section of the Annual Assembly
website. I am confident that the site evaluation and remediation process has been given the necessary attention.

We understand that despite all the preparations, there may still be ADA Statement
unanticipated issues pertaining to other types of disabilities that have
not been addressed in this letter. We again ask for your support and AAPM&R conferences are ADA compliant.

communicating the value of PM&R in rehabilitation care aligned with the Academy’s mission and
vision. Showcasing PM&R’s medical expertise in treating patients with Long COVID raises awareness
of the value of physiatry-led multidisciplinary care early and throughout the continuum of patient care.

Visit the Member Resource Center to learn more about our efforts, including:

= Our PASC Dashboard that shows how many millions of Americans are estimated to be
experiencing PASC/Long COVID symptoms by state, county and nationally. Explore it at
pascdashboard.aapmr.org.

= Guidance statements released by our PASC Collaborative on fatigue, breathing discomfort,
cognitive symptoms, cardiovascular complications, pediatrics and autonomic dysfunction.
Additional guidance is planned on mental health and neurology. Read them at
aapmr.org/guidance.

= Our press coverage – AAPM&R and several Academy leaders are being featured in a variety of
media outlets discussing their Long COVID expertise and the Academy’s call to action. Learn
more at aapmr.org/press.

Thank you to all of our members and volunteer leaders who are treating these patients, especially
those involved in our PASC Collaborative and Specialty Brand Expansion Committee who have
spent countless hours to advance these efforts.

Please join us in sharing our guidance and Long COVID Dashboard with your physician colleagues to
support patients.
