that person. The teams will start at one side of the gym. Everyone will sit
down and grab the ankles of the person behind them. The teams will scoot like
caterpillars to the other side of the gym. The team that makes it there first

stand directly across from the other partner at opposite sides of the gym.
Everyone should kneel and stick one knee out. One side will be called Coke.
The other side will be called pepsi. I, or a volunteer will call out either coke or
pepsi. The side that is called out should quickly run to their partner and sit on
their knee. I, or a volunteer can also call out “Dr.Pepper,” in that case, the
partners should switch sides. If someone gets confused and is the last to get
to their partner or spot, they are out. We will keep playing till there is one
winning team.

spot.

represent an animal (ex. cat, dog, lion, pig). The class will spread out and close
their eyes. Once the game begins they will begin making whatever sound
corresponds with their animal and try to find the other people that are their
same animal. When a player finds a matching animal they will link and continue
till the rest of the animals in their group are found. Whatever animal group
finishes first wins.
Objective: The players must listen to find all the animals in their group.
Equipment: No equipment
Key Skills: Listening and Cooperation
Space Requirement: half court

The Blob Tag

Instructions: Two people will be “it” (or the taggers). They will hold hands
creating a “blob”. The rest of the class will start on one of the lines on one side
of the gym, everytime the whistle blows they will run to the opposite side of
the gym to the opposite line. The blob will have to remain linked and tag those
running across the gym. If you are tagged you become a part of the blob
(holding hands). The game will continue until everyone is apart of the blob.

blob.

will be out. As the game continues, 2 colors may be called out , or bean bags

that is called out.

What time is it Mr. Wolf?

Instructions: Similar to the game “Mother May I”. The class will stand on a line
at one side of the gym. I will choose a volunteer (Mr./Mrs. Wolf). The
volunteer will be at the other side of the gym with their back to the class. The
class will the say “What time is it Mr./Mrs. Wolf?” The wolf will then respond
with a time. For example, if the wolf says 5’ oclock, the class will take 5 steps
forward. Once the players get close to the wolf , he/she will shout
“lunchtime”, and start chasing the players back to the starting line. If anyone
is tagged they become the new wolf.

Common Denominator

Instructions: Similar to the game Telephone. The class will make a circle. I will choose a
volunteer to be the guesser. I will appoint the head of the circle and that person will
come up with a characteristic that describes multiple people in the class but not
everyone. The head of the circle will then whisper the characteristic to the person to
their right and so on and so forth. A player can only whisper it once. If that
characteristic describes you, you will still whisper it to the next person but after, sit
down in your spot. Once the characteristic has been whispered to everyone in the circle
the guesser will try and guess the characteristic. The head of the circle will say if it’s
right or wrong. The game will continue like this until we’re finished.
Objective: The guesser must correctly determine the common denominator between all
the players sitting. The players must not let the guesser hear it and properly deliver the
characteristic.
Equipment: none
Key Skills: Listening
Space Requirement: half court

Ball Tag

Instructions: I will divide the class in half. Everyone on each team gets a number that
corresponds with someone from the other teams number. The teams will be on
opposing lines with space in the middle. I will stand in the middle and call out a number.
The two players with that number will step forward out of the line. I’ll throw the ball in
the air and they need to try and catch the ball. If one of them catches it the person who
did not is automatically out. If neither of them catches it, they need to get the ball and
try to tag the other person with it. Once they are tagged that person is out, if noone is
tagged and the whistle blows they are both out. The team with the most people left
wins.
Objective: The players must try and catch the ball, or tag the player with the ball on the
opposing team.

Shark Attack

Instructions: The players (swimmers) will start at one end of the gym. I will
pick three volunteers to be the sharks. The sharks will stand in the middle of
the gym and yell out “shark attack.” The players will run and try to make it to
the other side of the gym. If a player is bit by the shark they have to lay down
and do a swimming movement, until another player (swimmer) saves them by
high-fiving them. They then are back in the game for the next round.
Objective: The player must try to make it to the other side of the gym without
being bit by the shark.

chasers. The chasers will line up in a single file line at one side of the gym. The
runners will spread out in the remaining space. I will blow the whistle and the
first person in line for the chasers will try and tag as many people in 10 seconds
or by whenever the whistle is blown again. If any of the runners are tagged they
will join the back of the chasers line and wait for their turn. The original chaser
is now apart of the runners. The game continues in this fashion.
Objective: The players must try and remain a runner.

Active Opposites

Instructions: In this game every command means the opposite. One person will volunteer
to call out different commands. All the players will start at one side of the gym. An action
will be called out and they must do the opposite. For example, if the volunteer says “walk”,
the players should run trying to make it to the other side of the gym. If the volunteer says
“up”, the players should go down doing any movement that is close to the ground to get to
the other side. Each command will end with stop. If the player makes a mistake they have
to go back to the starting line.
Objective: The players must think quickly and perform an action opposite of what they are
