North Atlantic Whale

Untitled presentation (2)

North Atlantic Right Whale
By: Nina A

The north atlantic right whales migrate from the Pacific Ocean

North atlantic whales eat copepods to survive. Copepods are a group of small
crustaceans in almost every freshwater and saltwater habitat. The whales habitat
is in the Atlantic Coastal waters or close to the Continental shelf.

Each fall, some whales travel more than 1,000 miles from feeding grounds to the
shallow coastal water of South Carolina, Georgia, and northeastern florida. They
migrate to provide important feeding, nursery, and calving habitat.

Female right whales give birth to a single calf after a year of pregnancy. Females
also live up to around 45 years old. Males live around 65 years.

Entanglement in fishing lines attached to traps and gill nets on the ocean
floor is one of the threats to endanger the whales
