Our Fears

What is your biggest fear? Are you scared of
heights? That is a really common one. But those
are just small instances or incidents which make
us feel sick in the stomach. What we’re really
scared of, is what makes a deep scar on our
minds for a long time. We all have at least one
fear of something or the other. May it be a few
harsh words from your very close friend, or a
little scolding from your mom, or losing a thing
that is the dearest to yourself? Although these
may seem childish, these ‘fears’ grow along with
our minds, and turn into something that we
would never want to experience. After growing
up, we might be terrified of rejection, or be
traumatized if our dearest one leaves us. We
should never let that scar turn into a hole. We
should learn to control human emotions and not

let our fears control us. Unconscious minds
never let go of their fears and try to make
their fears cover their abilities. We should let
our conscious mind take control in such
situations and try to make those fears our
strengths. We should overcome our fears and
let them slowly wash away from our minds,
instead of letting them overcome us.

I have many memorable days at school that I cherish very
much. One of them is the day I took part in our school
carnival which was organised to collect funds for a charity
for the Al Jalila foundation. Each grade was given to put up
a stall either of food or games. My class had kept games
stall and I along with 2 of my friends were in charge of the
stall. We had kept the game of basketball. Each child was
given 3 chance to throw the ball into the basket. If all the 3
balls went into the basket, then the child will get a gift. We
charged the kids Aed 5/- per child to play the game. Many
kids came to our stall to try their luck. Few won prizes and
few others lost. We collected lot of money from our games
stall. We had lot of fun that day managing the stall and the
kids who came to play the games.

Our school collected overall around AED 10,000 in cash from
the carnival which was handed over to the Al Jalila
Foundation person. Our carnival was a big success thanks
to all the kids and their parents who participated in the
event and generously contributed to the good cause.

The Bat Who Couldn’t Fly

Once upon a time there was a bat family. One day
the mother bat gave birth to a baby bat. She liked
her child very much but the baby bat could not fly.
She trained her baby bat to fly but still it could
not fly. But the baby bat can at least hang in the
tree upside down. She wish her baby bat could fly.
As the baby bat grew into a bat still it could not
fly. The bat family did not know what to do with
the bat. They thought of keeping the bat with them
but not giving to any other bats. One evening the
parent bat went to search for food when a bad
wind storm came and the bat fell down and it tried
hard to fly to his house and finally the bat
succeeded to fly to his house and his parents were
happy.

MORAL OF THE STORY - When we try hard
only then we succeed

I came to this country when I was 2 years in the early 80s.
From then onwards, I have always felt at home here in UAE. My
father was working for Fujairah Marble & Granite Factory in
Dibba and we spent some good years of our childhood in the
rustic town, Dibba, Fujairah where almost everyone knew each
other… We were staying at the company quarters inside the
factory premises. We had two gardens in front of our house, one
where we grew vegetables and the other for plants and a small
Mulberry tree. We had neighbours from different parts of Asia
like Bangladesh, Pakistan and people from different parts of India
like Goa, Mangalore, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka & Kerala. We lived
there like one BIG family! Kids of various age groups from
different countries played together and grew up together and I
would say those were the BEST days of my life… Whenever it
used to rain- that too very rarely-we kids used to come out of
our homes and dance in the rain with great gusto! It was

celebration time for us whenever it rained and we all enjoyed
those moments very much.

It was March 31st 2010, we were invited to a birthday
party we were reach there at 4 pm, but we all fell fast
asleep. Suddenly when my father woke up and he told
us to get ready and dressed quickly, we rushed out of
the house and we managed to reach the party venue
on time.
The party venue was decorated with beautiful
colourful welcome balloons at the door, the hall itself
was decorated with so many balloons and silky ribbons.
The birthday cake was made out in the shape of a
unicorn's head.
Azra the birthday girl decided to play hide and seek as
one of the party games, all children were happy to play
the game. As the game started, children began to run
and hide. Tia and Gia three-year-old twin girls decided
to hide behind the stage curtain. Azra found most us,
but she could find the twins, we all started to search
for the girls but could not find them. Then Azra called
the names of the girls on the mike , that is when the
girls jumped out from behind the stage curtain , in
doing so their legs got stuck in the curtains and they
tripped and fell across the stage, When they fell the
also brought the stage curtain down onto the cake. The

cake smashed to floor and was destroyed. This was one
of my first birthday parties that I came back without
eating the birthday cake.
This is one of the incidents I will not forget easily.

If I were a Principal

A school is a learning centre. It is headed by a
Principal. She has full powers to manage the
school with the help of teachers and supervisors.
She is responsible for a healthy academic
atmosphere in the school. She has to maintain
discipline. The Principal of a school is not an
ordinary person and if I get an opportunity to
become a Principal, I shall spare no effort to
become an ideal Principal, I shall try my best to
make my school a model school. I shall see that
everything is done in my school in a most
systematic way and scientific manner.

If I were a Principal.

It’s a dream come true. Being the principal is a proud moment for me.
I would be the happiest person on Earth. I would make sure that my
responsibilities are always done on time.
I would make sure all the children are following the rules and
regulations of the school. I would also make sure that the school
canteen is neat and clean. The food supplied is fresh and healthy so
that the students don’t fall sick.
I would also make sure that the washrooms are always neat and clean.
I would instruct students to walk in a straight line and make sure the
students are taking periods appropriately.
I will try my level best to give more motivation and support to children
who are average or below average so that they can excel in their
studies.
I wish this is a dream that was real.
A dream that would become true one day.

Flying Taxis…What Next???

For me it would be flying caravans…. Hmm doesn’t
that sound exciting?

It would not be like an airplane that is too huge and
requires a lot of energy. It will be more like a Pod
that can fit an entire family and that operates on
green fuel. Well, we could use it for living. Could help
us to save so much on accommodation and transport.

My flying caravan will have so many cool features.

It will be big enough for a family to live with
all the needed facilities . We can fly in it to different
destinations like school, office, malls etc... No
Traffice congestions. No environmental Pollution.
What not, all our Holidays could be flying around
the WORLD. Imagine how much we could save on
the hotels and flights as well.

I believe it will be a really useful technological
innovation.

Thank you!!!!..... Mahati Anand

THE WONDERFUL WOMEN she takes

IF I WERE THE PRINCIPAL

If I were the principal I would allow students to take
3 days holiday instead of 2 on Friday and Saturday. In
the canteen there would be freshly baked pizzas and
delicious ice-creams. There would 8 English periods a
week and the buses would be pink in colour because that
is my favourite colour. Boys will have to go to school
before girls because the girls always wake up so early.
There would be 2 games periods and 2 P.E. periods.
There would be field trips to new countries at more
affordable prices. I will make sure that everybody will
maintain discipline and work hard to achieve their
academic and extra-curricular goals and dreams.
