1. Some glad morning when this life is over, I'll fly away,
To a home on God's celestial shore, I'll fly away.

Refrain:
I'll fly away, Oh, Glory, I'll fly away
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by, I'll fly away

2. Just a few more weary days and then, I'll fly away
To a land where joy shall never end, I'll fly away.

2. Sing the wondrous love of Jesus, Sing His mercy and His grace.

In the mansions bright and blessed, He’ll prepare for us a place.
Refrain:

When we all get to Heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus, We’ll sing and shout the victory!
2. While we walk the pilgrim pathway, Clouds will overspread the sky;
But when traveling days are over, Not a shadow, not a sigh.
3. Let us then be true and faithful, Trusting, serving every day;
Just one glimpse of Him in glory, Will the toils of life repay.

EULOGY

Today we are honoring, celebrating, and
remembering the life of Miss Maudlyn Clarke
otherwise known as Ms. Maud, Mama, and
"Ms. Madelin". While some of you may have
known her better than others, we can all
agree that we're all here because she had an
impact on our lives and we want to honor that.
When someone has that effect on you, it's never easy to say goodbye.

Miss Maudlyn was one of sixteen children born to the late Robert and
Maude Clarke on March 25, 1942 in Brucehall, St James, Jamaica. She is
survived by her seven children- Paul Campbell, Marjorie Glanville-Bennett,
Vilma Glanville, Erma Glanville, Richard Edwards, Leo Edwards, and
Leighton Thompson; three daughters-in-laws- Janice Campbell, Sue-Ann
Edwards, and Patricia Edwards and one son in law, Marvin Bennett;
Seventeen grandchildren-Kenroy Edwards, Richell Edwards, Kenisha
Edwards, Garrick Ottey, Dwayne Campbell, Lianna Edwards, Oshea
Campbell, Claudena Daniel, Andre Antrobus, Latrisha Forrest, Kristen
Johnson, Richards Edwards Jr, Jaheel Rowe, Toni-Ann Williams, Joshua
Edwards, Rezayne Edwards, and Renyah Edwards. In addition, she has
fourteen great grandchildren, Three brothers: Alexander Clarke, Elleston
Clarke, Clovis Clarke, and a host of nieces and nephew.

After growing up in Ginger Hill with her aunt, she migrated from St. James to
Roxborough Avenue, Kingston In order to make a better life for herself. She
stayed there for some time until she relocated to Warieka Hill. Mama was
brought up with traditional values and was skilled at what she did. Mama
mastered the craft of cooking as well as baking. You could look forward to
soup on Saturdays, ground provisions and callaloo on Sunday mornings for
breakfast, and Stew peas and rice or Rice and Peas and Chicken for
Sunday dinner. She made the best cow cod soup and baked the meanest
corn and potatoe pudding there ever was.

Her grandchildren recalled her also making some great cornmeal porridge as
well as corn beef ‘bully beef’ and rice. Mama also took time to teach what
she knew. She was a Jack of all trades and yes, she mastered them all.
Mama worked various odd jobs to feed her family. Whether as a Domestic
Helper, Crash Program Worker or selling at the National Stadium with her
best friend Ms Louisa Foster, she was willing to make an honest living.

Mama was an active member of the People’s National Party. She faithfully
attended their monthly meetings, weekend parties as well as unity rallies in
Sam Sharpe Square. It was a pleasure to see her dress in Orange and Black
from head to toe when attending functions. From time to time, she would
chant one of the Party's phrases, "Mi heavy, mi heavy and mi ready'.Although
she didn”t have the best voice there is, you were guaranteed to hear her sing
gospel songs on Sundays. On Mamas stereo you were sure to hear some of
her favorite songs from artists such as Jimmy Swaggart and the Grace
Thrillers. On Saturdays for the grandchildren, it meant one thing, it's time to
clean!

In 1995, she retired from working as a helper and selling at the National
Stadium to join her eldest daughter in Brooklyn, New York. She quickly
adjusted herself and continued to work diligently and hard until she retired.
Throughout that time, she would be joined by her other children and
grandchildren. Mama played an active role in her children's and grand
children's lives. She would always find time to take her grandchildren to
prospect park as well as other activities. During Christmas time, her
grandchildren were always guaranteed to see a gift with their name on it
wrapped in Mama's signature brown tape. No one was left out. Mama was a
no non-sense person but always gave support and love when needed. Even
after retiring, she continued to provide her support to everyone whether by
cooking, babysitting or picking up and dropping off the grand kids to and from
school.

Mama was loved by everyone. Before she became sick, she gave her life to
the lord. She was a pillar in her community and within her family. She will
surely be missed by us all. To quote a line from one of her songs she played
frequently”...’til we meet again. God be with you till we meet again. “Love you
mama.”
