Natural Disasters

Natural Disasters
of the World

By Riley

Introduction • Natural disasters are events that
are caused by the earth, such as
Volcano Eruptions, Earthquakes,
Tornados, Tsunamis, and more.
When stuff like this happens,
Large areas are usually destroyed
or damaged. So in this power
point, I'm going to go over a few
natural disasters from all around
the world.

Hurricanes

• Hurricanes are a giant storm which can cause floods,
destruction, and other stuff. The 1900s Galveston
hurricane was the biggest hurricane recorded. It cause
8,000-12,000 deaths.

Landslides

• Landslides are another very dangerous natural
disaster. Landslides are big amounts of land that have
become loose. Landslides can be caused by other
natural disasters, such as volcano eruptions and
earthquakes.

Thunderstorms

• Thunderstorms are big storms that cause electric bolts
that crash down to earth, usually they don’t cause
much damage, but when the bolts hit houses or
buildings, it can cause a lot of damage.

Tornadoes

• Tornados are big spirals of wind that can destroy most
things in its path. They are usually formed in stormy
conditions, and happen more often in certain places.

Tsunamis

• Tsunamis are giant waves of water in the ocean that
are caused by volcanic eruptions, or landslides.
Depending on their size they can cause catastrophic
damage to buildings, but sometimes they can do little
to nothing. They usually cause floods as well.

Wildfires

• Wildfires are giant fires that spread to giant
quantities. Wildfires are usually caused by Volcanoes,
Heat Waves, or Human Carelessness.

Sandstorms

• Sandstorms are caused by winds strong enough to
pick up sand grains, and make giant storms of sand
that can have deadly effects on humans and
everything else around it. These usually happen in
deserts.

Sinkholes

• Sinkholes are pieces of land that fall into deep holes
that have formed in the ground. Sometimes they can
be small, and sometimes they can be huge. These can
happen in the middle of city's on roads, or in the
middle of fields. Sometimes they can cause a lot of
destruction.

Floods

• Floods are mass amounts of water that fill places for a
long amount of time, these can happen by rain, or the
aftermaths of tsunamis. These can usually flood
buildings, and houses, forcing people out of their
homes.

Outro

• That’s probably most of the natural disasters out
there, but there's probably a few more that you can
research. Thanks for reading!
