Describe how helping at home develops your character
In this world, there are various characters. Humans can establish a winning personality by
having a decent character. In other words, a strong character such as perceptive, loyal,
hardworking and others are the foundation of a charismatic personality that draws people in.
Hence, a sense of responsibility needs to develop in oneself for the sake of raising self-esteem
so that the person can have a decent connection with the society such as friends, family, and
coworkers. Home is the best place to start off with when it comes to character development since
people grow up and get a lot of education in their own home. Helping at home as a habit may
result in character development which encourages diligence, acquires life skills and builds
maturity in oneself.
One of the character developments which is diligence can attain by helping at home with
the house chores. When a person frequently helps at home, she can feel herself as an important
contributor to the family because helping at home can build trust among people. A mother can
put her trust in the daughter to change the light bulb, wipe the fan and fix the sink. Those skills
are unattainable in any institution and it is from personal experience. Without those skills, a person
may need to hire a professional or help which regards to depending on other people instead of
acquiring the skills to do at home. Therefore, the experience of helping at home does not only
help to develop those skills but also strengthens the trust between parents and family. For
instance, a mother entrusts the daughter to cook and present the dinner for the guests while they
visit the house and the daughter does her best on preparing the dinner for them. In order to
develop the things aforementioned by
helping at home, a person must make the
first move by setting up a schedule and
plan daily on what are the tasks and goals
that the person needs to achieve for the
next day. For example, when one wants to
clean up the bathroom, the person will do
everything possible to guarantee that the
bathroom is in a perfect condition. The perfect condition of the bathroom is the achievement which
can make the person happy and proud of it. According to Ballout (2007), career success is
determined by commitment of work. The more effort a person puts in the work, the tendency to
be successful is higher. When a person regularly practices diligence at home, the person will tend
to apply it in education or work by working hard so that she can achieve the goals.
Helping at home with the house chores will help oneself in becoming a better human being
by understanding and learning new skills. There are a lot of new skills to acquire and enhance
that are very useful for a person in the future. Enhancing cooking skills by learning it from parents
helps a person to survive during the time the
person stays alone. For example, a person can
apply cooking skills at any time especially when
she is apart from parents because of studying
abroad or during married life. According to
Lavelle et al. (2016) dietary habits are influenced
by how the individuals learn their cooking style.
A person who learns cooking skills from her parents may cook healthily by controlling the intake
of ingredients such as sugar, salt and pepper. To give an instance, a person will put a little bit of
salt when cooking fried rice for her old parents. Other than that, learning how to make a bed the
right way can keep a bed tidy for the whole day. Making bed instills a sense of tidiness, cleanliness
and perpetual diligence. It also provides a reviving sense of accomplishment. Next, learning the
fastest way to fold some shirts can save a person’s time and energy to do something else. Ones
will feel easy to manage their lives because of the skills development that starts from home.
A person can build maturity in her personality and way of thinking by helping at home.
Doing house chores enables a person to realize that helping at home is one of the utmost
importance for survival in the future because an adult must be independent by knowing how to
manage everything on their own. There is one situation that commonly happens to people
especially among the siblings in the household. Usually during youth, the last person who finishes
the food among the siblings has to wash
all the dishes. However, when siblings
adapt themselves in performing
housework, the siblings will wash all the
dishes as soon as they finish eating.
According to Josefsson et al. (2013)
emerging maturity with social
adjustment which is contributing to the
society will make a person being
respected and loved by others. This is a
huge illustration of how maturity plays a vital role in the household. On top of that, there are more
house chores that a person can do in order to lighten the parent’s burden by sweeping the
backyard, cleaning the bedroom and doing the laundry. Through this, one can learn how important
it is to give and take by accepting responsibilities in life. The impact is respect, happiness, love
and reciprocation will exist between families. Therefore, that is how family bonds will work when
maturity emerges in the household.
In a nutshell, it is eloquently shown that helping at home can lead to character
development which encourages diligence, acquires new skills and builds maturity in oneself. It is
crucial to develop all the skills aforementioned from childhood in order to be a better person.
One’s character must develop from the childhood stage in order to construct the person's moral
behavior when they grow up. The level of a person's character development today will determine
the kind of world the person lives in tomorrow. The more development a person does in herself,
the easier her life will be in the future. Without ethics and morals, life would be meaningless.
