Network Proposal Project Guidelines

GPS:​ I​ T-IDT-6​ ​Explore and explain the basic components of computer networks.

6.2 Illustrate and describe the functions of various types of networks including wireless.
6.3 Explain key issues in data transmission.
6.4 Characterize the purposes, features and functions of the following network components:
Switches, Bridges, Routers, Gateways, CSU / DSU, NICs, ISDN adapters, WAPs,
Modems, Transceivers, Firewalls.
6.5 Identify factors which affect the range and speed of wireless service.
6.6 Explore networking trends and issues affecting business and personal

Guidelines:

I. In pairs (of your choice), you will complete the following assignment.

You will design a network for T​ aylor Graphic Designs, Inc.​ that is owned by
Mr. Donald Taylor. You will need to choose a server, client computers,
peripherals, media, and software for the company’s needs.

II. Prepare a network design proposal that could be given to the Mr.
Taylor the owner.

a. Use a MS Word template to create the proposal
b. Use the information obtained from the owner to develop the proposal
c. Include the computer and software needs of the company
d. Research the cost of the computers and resources, including servers,

peripherals, media, and software.
e. As a group, draw the architecture (topology) for one of the three

networks discussed in class.
f. Provide diagrams in your proposal.

III. Create a PowerPoint presentation to present to your client that
includes the following:

● Minimum of 10 Slides
● Title Slide – Company Name – Group Members
● Proposal Highlights
● Include diagrams and images

IV. Place the actual proposal in a binder/report cover
