Employability Skills Presentation Assignment

GOAL #1: Create a Flipsnack Flipbook highlighting 6 employability
skills that you need in order to be successful NOW and in the future.
***This should take 2-3 class periods.***
NOTE: USE THE CAREER THAT YOU USED FOR YOUR CAREER
RESEARCH PAPER

a. You will develop this in Microsoft PowerPoint.
b. Before you begin, open a new presentation in PowerPoint and go to the

Design Tab and Slide Orientation. Change it to Portrait.
c. The first slide will be a cover page for your book. It must include a title (be

creative), all group members names (first names only), and an introduction
to your book.
d. The following 6 slides will be a page devoted to each skill you have chosen.

i. Do not have full sentences on these slides – use bullet points and start
all bullet points with the same type of word (verb, adjective, etc.)

ii. Do not have more than 7 words per line or 7 lines per slide (7X7 rule)
iii. Give a brief definition of the skill (use your own words)
iv. Include pictures of good and bad examples of the specific skill

(Do/Don’t)
v. Tell why this skill will help you in life – now and in the future
e. Slide 8 should be a summary of what you have learned. Tell which skills you
found to be the most helpful now.
f. Slide 9 should be a reference slide telling where you found all information
and pictures. DO NOT reference Google. Tell specific sites where the
information/pictures were found.
g. Slide 10 should be a closing slide telling your audience that you appreciate
the time they took to view your presentation.
h. Once all 10 slides are created, save it first as a PowerPoint file (.pptx) and
then save it as a .pdf.
i. Turn in your PowerPoint file to the appropriate assignment in Google
Classroom.
j. You will upload the .pdf to Flipsnack (http://www.flipsnack.com/).

k. It will create a link for you to turn in.
l. Post your flipbook link to the discussion board in eCLASS – Make sure you

put all group members’ names in the post.

GOAL #2: Create a QR Code for your Flipbook
***This should take ½ of a class period.***

a) Use http://www.qrstuff.com/ OR http://www.visualead.com/
b) Once your code is generated, save a picture version of it.

Examples of QR Code Pictures:
c) Turn in the picture file to the appropriate assignment on eCLASS.

GOAL #3: Create a flyer with the QR Code on it that will entice
others to scan your code in order to view your book… Lure them in
with your creativity and design skills!
***This should take 1-2 class periods.***

a) Create this in Microsoft Publisher – Choose one of the blank options (8.5”X11”)
b) Come up with a school appropriate title that makes people want to scan your

code and read your flipbook
c) Include your QR Code picture
d) Include appropriate pictures or ClipArt
e) Make sure your flyer looks balanced (layout, colors, design)
f) Turn in your flyer to the appropriate assignment on eCLASS.

When you’re finished, get the teacher’s approval of your project.
Make sure you show him/her your flipbook AND flyer.
Then, you may print your flyer and hang it in the hallway!
Now that you are finished, go back to your individual computers and go to
the discussion board in Google Classroom. View at least three other

presentations and make a positive comment (2-3) sentences on their

discussion posting.
