Explanation
For the background of my vanitas I chose a house with different
rooms. Each symbol represents a different person and each symbol
is in a different room. I did this because I feel like even though my
family isn't always around each other or in the same room we are
still all connected. For my symbol I chose a phone because that is my
life. My phone is a way I connect with other people and what I spend
most of my time doing. I drew my symbol in a room upstairs
representing my room because that is where you will find me most
of the time. For my brothers symbol I drew a baseball. The reason I
drew that was because he is so involved with all of his sports. For the
most part he has some type of activity each night of the week. I feel
like this really represents him and made sense. I drew his symbol in
a room upstairs because he is usually upstairs and that is where you
would usually find him. For my sisters symbol I drew a
cheeseburger. I chose this symbol not to represent that she likes food
but because that is what she is known for. Anytime we go out to
dinner we know that is what she would order and it is kind of a joke
between our family. A symbol that I thought really represented my
mom was a heart. In her heart I drew a little baby heart to symbolize
the new baby coming. I think the heart really fits her because she is
so caring and will do anything to make someone else feel happy. For
my dad's symbol I chose a hammer to show that he is the strict one
and holds a lot of power. My dad is the one who makes everyone do
things that we don’t want to and always holds up to our highest
potential. For the roof of my house I filled it with words and things
that kind of represent our family. I put down things we like to do or
have done in the past. The reason I chose to do it like this is because I
feel like sometimes things that that our forgotten and it just shows
that no matter what they are always there.
My Name - Ruby
Origin - Latin
My name is Ruby. A feminine given name taken from the name of of a gemstone. The
origin of my name is latin and it derives from the word r uber meaning red. My name
doesn't have a lot of meaning behind it other than something beautiful.
My name wasn’t going to be ruby until 6:30 am on April 6, 2004 when I was born. I was
my mom's second born child and her perfectly planned out one too. She had everything
ready for me as well as a name, Anna. This name had been passed through generations
in my family and I was going to be the honored one to keep it going. My mom had this
name stitched on blankets and hung on the wall in my room. As for my dad he wasn’t a
big fan of this name and had suggested many different names but in the end wanted my
mom to be happy. At first glance my mom knew that Anna wasn’t the right name for me.
She tells me today that the name Ruby never even crossed her mind leading up to the
months I was born. Now looking back she said that was the best decision she ever made
because this name fits me.
My name feels like the feeling you get when you are listening to the radio and you hear
an older song that you know all the lyrics to. You get excited and it makes you happy. I
hope when people hear my name it makes the a little bit excited and happy. With my
name being an older name I usually get comments from older people saying how pretty
my name is or how they really like it.
My name tastes like a huge bowl of sour patch kids. Sour patch kids are sour on the
outside but also sweet. You eat them for a while but soon your tongue starts to get raw. I
feel like this relates to my name because when you first hear my name you think it's
really pretty and a name you don’t hear often. But as you say it more you realize that is
gets kind of old. My name has no nicknames and my family hasn’t come up with many
over the years. Overall I think my name suits me and i am happy to be Ruby.
Most Important Thing About Ruby
The most important thing about Ruby is she is a rubber band. Ruby is a
rubber band because she can be really flexible at times but also hold
things together. She has a very busy family and also has many
responsibilities. She is involved in a lot of sports and extra activities. Being
a rubber band has its perks but also can be hard sometimes. It's like when
you have your favorite hair tie and over time it gets stretched out to the
point that you can’t use it anymore.
She thinks her family plays a big role in her being the stretchy part of
the rubber band. She loves her family a lot and will do anything for them.
Ruby’s family is made of six people and things don’t always go planned.
She never gets to pick where they get to eat or what movie they watch but
that is where being a rubber band comes in. She can stretch and do things
that she doesn't like but can also hold things together and make sense at
times when her siblings need help.
Her mom in particular kind of made her this way. Ruby is very
organized and likes to be prepared for things. She doesn't like to be late or
show up to a party without a gift. None of those things describe her mom.
She doesn’t have many things in common and that is where the metaphor
of a rubber band makes sense. Ruby has to stretch and bend in ways she
doesn’t always like but over the years has become less annoying.
I Don’t Understand
I don’t Understand
why people treat other people badly
why people think we aren't equal
why people hurt other people
But most of all
why people make fun of others
why people hate other people
why people say mean things
What I understand most is
why people are kind
why people are respectful
why people have feelings
Credo
I believe that oreos are better when dipped
in milk
The mushy cookies taste better than
regular ones
The double stuff are more filling
The regular cookies you buy from the store
taste fake
The off brand oreos taste gross
Yummy Taste, Smooth Texture, Perfect
Snack
But the belief that chocolate chip cookies
are better than oreos, is beyond crazy
Emotion and actions
If i could choses anything to eat right now
I would chose strawberry icecream
The taste of the sweet strawberry and
